If you want the Old Testament translated for original languages, then you have to use the masoretic text as it’s in Hebrew. Translating from the Septuagint, you’re using a Greek translation from the Hebrew done about 200 BC. They have used the masoretic, septuagent, and other old texts in some cases, look at the footnotes.

I do have the slate grey. However there was a strong chemical smell when I first got it. It has improved.....but there is still a chemical smell. Not sure why.

CSB is simply a bad translation, it should not be a translation. It should more like a reference text.

i wish they would bold or semi bold jesus’s words instead of OT references. i think their bible font would be okay with paragraphs in bold without hindering reading ability. i’m with you though i’m not a huge fan of red letter because of my highlights but i do like jesus’s words to stand out.

Not a bad translation but a bit disappointed that translators of most translations usually seem to choose the masoretic text over the older septuagent that new testament writers quote from

I just received my VBV is the burgundy and the personal size in the slate. They are beautiful.

I purchased one of these (slate grey) and received yesterday... Nice print, good "feel" in the hand, easy on the eyes to read... will be my go to for some time.

It looks great, a premium Bible on a "budget" (still isn't "cheap" 😁). I'll get to see what its like myself when the one I ordered arrives...

They did this Bible so well. I have no idea why the CSB was done so poorly. They are COMPLETELY different in quality. Mind-blowing.

Great review! It looked as though the thickness of the pages were difference at the front of the bible, where you would record marriage and birth dates, as to the actual bible notetaking pages. Would you say that the pages are on the thinner side for a notetaking bible?

If you could chose one between this Bible or the NIV Grace and Truth Study Bible?

Nice review & helpful comparison! You might already know this by now but the Large Print Compact in the brown leathertex (only that colour) included that really nice Korean paper. I happened to get one in brown & later found out that the Prime version had the lesser quality paper! This Korean paper is one of the best I've ever seen. The Prime Reference in goatskin also has the Korean paper and I'm tempted to get that. Would be nice if Schuyler did the Personal Size Quentel in the NASB 2020 too.

How good is the paper on this bible? Can you write in it?

Great to find a review of this - seems to be the only one I can find, and you’ve done a great job. It’s a lovely looking Bible, and good to see that it comes in the bonded leather option too. I’ve got both the bonded and genuine leather Verse by verse CSBs but I’ve always found them just that little bit too big for anything other than pulpit preaching, so this variant looks like a nice alternative due to its size.

I want to lime the csb but they don't capitalize the deity of God. That's just a deal breaker for me.
