Cuz a lot of people already tried and Touma still kick their asses. A girl once tried to throw a building at him, he fucking calculate it trajectory and finds a gap where he could jump to avoid it. Accelerator threw a steel container at him and use exlosion, he uses his own reflection to avoid it. He even one-shotted a trained american soldier once. Touma ain't no slouce even without Imagine Breaker. That guy's a fucking tank.

It's not a magical power, and it's actually quite interesting from a narrative point of view.

He's an esper, Magic will kills him if he uses it. Go learn the lore of the series. He's pretty good already at science. He fixed a robot once with minimal help from a broken translator. It's the Esper bullshit he didn't get. Touma is already ststed to be at the level of an expert martial artist in the LN.

@@kamijounotouma5596 I didn't say "use". I said "learn" so he can think of counter measures for different types of spell. Also,as of NT 6 , there's no indication that he can use martial art

Touma already have trouble keeping up with his school, there's no way he have enough time to learn magic, and even then he already have the best strategical feats out of everyone in the series. He once planned out and manipulate two opposing organizations using nothing but some rough Intel. Touma himself had said in the first arc he can take on 4 Skill-Outs (who are Athlete levels) to an Extreme diff fight. And before the series started, Touma's actually a delinquent who spends his time picking fights everyone he could find all because he was "looking for excitement."

@@kamijounotouma5596 Touma is somewhat good at fighting but not on the level of professionals. Also, I'm not entirely serious here. If he can fight like his friend and has the knowledge on the level of Kiharas, most of the fights would be boring

Even Tsuchimikado who he loses he defeated at their second fight (who was still moving at the same speed during their first fight) Touma being martial artist doesn't change anything now anyway, most of his opponents are Gods, that punching and licking does jackshit to. He's better off relying on his Hax and strategies.

Don't compare a shounen to a fantasy anime. Most standard shounens are intended to show the entire journey of the mc until he reaches his dreams, eventually they will have the "training arc" where they show the mc improving his physique, his techniques, powers etc and only after that they fight against the antagonists of each arc. Index is not a shounen and does not follow this training pattern, but rather something more roleplaying. It's the fights with the antagonists of each arc that becomes a training for the mc. The timeline between events is very short, so it's like the mc fights against a new antagonist every day and so, he evolves and gets stronger. It's like a video game where you defeat monsters to level up. In ep 1 this mc was already a very experienced street fighter because he has lived in the city for over 10 years, so can you imagine how many fights he has faced on the streets every day over the course of 10 years? . The novel mentions that he even acquired precognition because of so much shit he's already faced, although the anime cuts the part that explains this . the anime also cuts his genius in fights, the Battle IQ in which he uses anything in the scenario to his advantage. like the classic dirty tricks of throwing sand in your opponent's eyes
