    I’ve come to hate it after 3 years. My employers treat me like a machine. 7 hours of back to back sessions. No break except a prolonged lunch. I’ve totally got the burn out

      @TheRMT_effect I am located in rural Indiana. I practice massage at a chiropractic clinic. I am an employee paid by the hour. Yes three hours in the morning then they give us a two hour lunch and then 4 hours in the afternoon. I would prefer to have a regular 30 minute lunch and breaks in between sessions. They believe it messes with the scheduling🙄

    Thank you for the informative videos 👍 I'm considering enrolling in RMT school here in Vancouver. Theres plenty of jobs availiable, the pay is around $100 an hour and they accept new graduates. Even with the split it still looks like a very doable 100k a year working 8 hours a day. Am I missing something? Is this too optimistic?

      Thank you so much for watching, Jasmine! 1. Safe 3 months of expenses ASAP and put it on a High interest Savings Account. 2. If you are going to be self- employed, set aside money for taxes from the time you get your 1st pay check and put it on a different bank account (out of sight, out of mind) 3. Know the difference between revenue and profit - focus on increasing profits. 4. Once you have your savings in order, start investing. The younger you are, the better. Even if its $50/ month. It adds up! I also added a few links to the description box of videos you can see about financial planning. I hope this helps!! I wish you the best in your last few months of school and graduation . • @TheRMT_effect
      @TheRMT_effect ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Igor-en8gp It’s based on the cost of the treatment. For example, for a 30 min treatment you may get paid $65. You will need to ask that question to the employer to be certain, but usually your pay structure is calculated as a percentage of the total cost of the treatment. If your split is 60% and they charge $100 for a 1 hour treatment, you will get paid $60. If they change $160 for a 90 mins, you will get paid $96. Hopefully that makes sense? Many job posts I'm seeing in the area (I'm from Toronto as well!) offer around $50/hr, would that be the set rate? So $50 by how much hands-on work is done? Ive also seen similar posts of $50/hr and a percent split but how does that work with the hourly rate given? P.S I love your energy :)

    • @TheRMT_effect
      @TheRMT_effect 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Emilia!! Thank youu 🥹❤️This is a great question! It depends on the company. Some job posts write the percentage split equivalent as an hourly rate, so that could be a possibility. For example- say the company charges $100 and pays you a 50% split, they sometimes write $50 rate. Other companies give you a $50 hourly rate regardless of the job that is performed . Always ask these questions at the interview for further clarification. Some companies offer the 2 options and you are able to choose. Don’t feel forced to accept any job that underpays you, no matter how fancy it looks. Remember that you are interviewing them as much as they are interviewing you! Also ask if this is a self employed or employee position (this will impact your taxes and how much $ you actually get to keep) and if gratuities are expected. I hope this helps!! Message me if you have any other questions. Best of luck in your job search 💙

    This is a valuable resource for massage therapists just starting out. There aren't many massage therapists making that dollar amount at this stage. As someone who knows how much goes into taking in that amount so early in your career, I applaud you for having a phenomenal year financially. 🙌

    Which college in ontario is best to become a massage therapist

      Hi Lea, I am not familiar with all the schools in Ontario, but in Toronto I know that Humber, Centennial, Sutherland Chan & CCMH are quite popular. I personally went to Centennial College and loved it! It prepared me very well. That said, at the end of the day success is very dependent on the Individual and how much effort they make. I hope this helps. Best of luck! 😊

      @@TheRMT_effect Can you do a video on life in massage school and tips to make life and studying easier there. Also what do you learn there. And I hope there is no math there....

      Hi Lea! That’s such a great video idea. I will definitely add this to my list. If you live in Ontario or any other province where massage is regulated you will learn anatomy, physiology, basic pathology, basic business, hands on skill, orthopaedic assessment, etc. In the US the curriculum will vary depending on the state as far as I know . The school should have the curriculum available on their website if you need more information. I hope this helps ! 😊

    I really appreciated your videos. I also find it interesting the amount of healing it takes to be a massage therapist. It is a lot of school . I had a question about continuing education. I want to start working eventually for a spa once I finish my massage therapy school education. I have seen online that people learn neuromuscular therapy and myofascial release and so forth. Do you think going to a seminar is the best way to get the Continuing education credits ? what worked for you after your first year of practicing and deciding what to do for more education as a massage therapist?

      Hi Stephanie! Great questions! There’s tons of Continuing Education courses to take and I find that taking additional courses really helps shape you as a therapist after school. Personally, I focused on mastering the basics first for the initial 5 months and then took my first course. I was hooked after that LOL 😂 i like courses that have hands on as well as theory. Seminars and talks are great, but I find that practical components are very important to succeed in this field. Are you in Canada? Theres some really cool courses to take here if you want to go into the spa industry
