Hello, I'm Scott. Welcome to my channel. This channel is mostly focused on Mountain Biking, but from time to time I will post some other cool things that I do, or show off any new toys that I get. I live on Long Island in NY so that is where most of my videos take place. I work in a bike shop so cycling is not only my hobby but my life. My PR is on my fat bike. Not by much though.
It's funny that when I lived near there, NO ONE mentioned Glacier Ridge to me once. Now that I've moved an hour or so away people constantly say "oh yeah, you should try out Glacier Ridge."
That's how it is sometimes haha

i know this is an old video, but the trail looks really flat.
This is long island, ny. We don't really have any elevation here but it's a really fun trail.

@@TheCranemeister one more thing, i didnt really see any trail markers. are there arrows at the intersections?
@@skt4271able there are some arrows but you will go through some sections multiple times and then take a different way just after an intersection. Maybe someone local will be there and you can tag along

I don't have the machine anymore. Couldn't ever get the right belts for it. If I could I would have kept it. Sorry
I remember I got there a few minutes after you left this ride and a guy asked me do I know Cranemeister because he was just here. Also the guy told me about a guy who broke his neck going off the rock that the girl jumped over at end of gotta do the ridges. Glacier Ridge is always a good ride.
Scott do you know if they are doing Global Fat Bike day tomorrow morning at Cammesetts Park? I looked all over internet and could not find any answers.

Great machine. I collect snow blowers and this is by far the best machine I own. Unfortunately, mine needs restoration right now and other projects have been pushed ahead of restoring it. Best of luck with yours
I own two.. one from the early 80s with a 5 spd transmission. Both are fairly destroyed right now, but I'll restore. My dad bought the 80s one new -- nothing I've ever seen better.

The Old Dock in is at the Kings Park Bluff
Putting the stem in kerosene (oil based) for a few minutes will even more effortlessly clean it of sealant. And doesn't require you to touch the tyre 😉

Unfortunately Dee moved away. She comes around from time to time but I haven't ridden with her in a long time😔
I'm flying in this Monday for a week with my mountain bike. I'm looking forward to exploring the island. Your guide looks incredibly fit and skilled. He climbed those old steps like it was nothing. I bet you were feeling it after that ride!

There was a dock on the beach that I walked down and just jumped into the water. It was right there.
Hi Cranemeister, I love these ride through videos, thanks! I'm thinking of trying MVH this weekend. How would you compare the difficulty of this trail to Glacier Ridge?
I think it's a little tougher but still very enjoyable. I do prefer Glacier though. Enjoy!

Hey Scott I'm new to mountain biking but there's a set of trails on long island that you might be interested in. It's the shoreham mountain bike trails. There's not much footage of it on TH-cam and what is there is old and in low quality. From what I've heard there some 27 miles of trail with features and boulders and a tight run along the edge of the north shore bluffs. They're not official trails so there not a trailhead I think it's just something that's evolved over time. Check out a vid on here called "Roman brown shoreham mountain bike trails," that's the best footage I've found of them. Since I'm familiar with the area I know where some of the trails begin and end if you're interested let me know I'd love to see a high quality video of this place.
Hi Justin. I appreciate the comment. I've been there 2 times in the past. I know the people that made the trails wanted it to be a private trail at that time so I never filmed or posted anything about them. I've heard rumors of climb adopting the trails. If that happens then I will definitely need to get out there and film.
@@TheCranemeister that would explain why there's not much footage or even mapping of it. I hope climb adopts it. There's so much potential!

Scott is Global Fat Bike day at Cammsetts cancelled this Saturday because of rain?
Not yet. They moved the start time to 9am. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets cancelled.
@@TheCranemeister The weather is rain all day on Saturday. People won't want to ride in cold rain. I thought this year was finally the year I made it to global fat bike day.

I would think so but I haven't heard any details yet. You don't need to register, just show up and ride.

If you're in top gear, do you have to pedal really fast to maintain about 15 mph?
No. I rarely use the top gear. I was fooling around this weekend and got up to 26mph in the second to highest gear.

I haven't heard of that. You have to take some roads to get to Woodbury rd. From Woodbury rd to bethpage it's all paved.

I know you need a valid driver's license but I don't recall having a minimum age.
Sad day for the trails...Climb has removed most of the fun stuff at this trail....my friends and I spent years improving this trail system. Unfortunately they will never be the same, and we are no longer helping maintain those trails. At least this video will be historical evidence of what once was.
That's horrible news. Do you know why the fun stuff was removed?
You know the lame excuses that Climb brings up insurance policies, risk, etc....meanwhile tons of people have safely enjoyed those features for years. And even within thier own trails systems there are other features which are way more dangerous....lame!
