มุมมอง 11K2 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a short video of me talking to homeless man Mark Smith at central station Newcastle Upon Tyne. A SMALL PART OF THE CONVERSATION HAS BEEN TAKEN OUT TO PROTECT PEOPLE MENTIONED IN THE VIDEO.
Music is anoying
I think its a great match for the place
What a nice video,i had big problems with alcohol and substance abuse and was homeless for a while.never touched a drop of drink or drugs in 4yrs now it is nice to see someone being treat like a human.just remember folks it can happen to anyone at any time
We all live in the reality that we find ourselves in, no mater what we have done in the past. I really think this guy could have been helped more.
sad to say it's even worse now.
Such a shame because it once was a vibrant market
Hi Colin this is Raymond. I could not understand why I was not getting any of your videos then I discovered that I had not subscribed to your channel (don’t know what happened as I was sure I had ). Anyway I have now. All the best. Have a great day. It is a nice day here in Lanarkshire. I have to get a set of tyres fitted to the van any day soon. It’s a long story🤔🏴. Cheers 👍
Born in Ashington many a good memory 😊
Beautiful! Looking forward to see Orkney with our own eyes. Thanks for the nice friendly talks on the ferry HROSSEY going from Aberdeen to Kirkwall and Lerwick… hello from Frank and Tina the Germans….
Hello Frank and Tina, I hope that you are both enjoying your visit to Shetland and that the weather has been kind to you. Thank you also for the nice talks on the ferry. You are a incredibly nice couple and very interesting people who have had the most amazing life experiences and I enjoyed every minute of the time we shared together. Enjoy Orkney and keep in touch. Colin AKA 'The Wansbeck Wanderer".

Hi Colin. This is Raymond. I am sitting on stand bye in Stromness trying to get back to the mainland. I will subscribe to your channel and send the odd message👍👍👍
Hi Raymond, it was great to meet at Evie, I'm still laughing about your your logical question regarding who got the job. If your ever back in Orkney I hope that you get in touch because I could have chatted to you for hours. I loved your campervan, a real masterpiece in engineering.
Can you please share the location ?
Ashington, Northumberland
Brought up in that Durty ole Town. Went down the Ashngton Duke pit in 1954 Coneygarth drift. Seams were running out and some heights were at only 18inches.
Ashington
Ashganistan at its finest land of the Shell suits😂
I grew up in Elder Square by the college. You went right over our old house.😢
I used to lived in orkney and my teacher stiles lived in orkney and her family and grandchildren they still loved living up there
Its a special place
My Auntie lived in Chestnut St and one of my cousins in Beatrice St.
I lived in Chestnut street for 5 years.
I love this Colin. In the deepest parts of the Fatherland. Thank you.
My pleasure, please make sure you like and subscribe for more local videos.
Such a shame this beautiful place is being destroyed by greedy business people it's now lost it's shopes and all the old world is being destroyed just like my town very sad to see. Love to all ❤
You are so right and sadly this is whats happening to most towns in uk
Most of these people who are saying they are homeless, are liars. Most are deliberately begging on the streets for cash.
We were there last September. Loved it. Great video and nice to have scottish music to add to the flavour. Brilliant .We will be back, It was probably our favourite place we visited. Thank kou !!
Thank you for the kind comments.
Great video thanks. Nice to see where some of my ancestors lived in the 1860. Mostly Rendall’s and Work surnames.
There are still family's with those surnames, especially Rendall.
I was born in Asha, and moved to pegswood when i was 34.Lived on newbiggen road when born, then in elder square from age of 3 till 34.Sad to see it like this now.Im only 3 miles up the road, but hardly go there now.

WWOOO. ¡¡ mucha belleza. espectacular.¡ 👍🎉🎉🎉💯😁🙏
Wow the scenery is beautiful
The safest place to be is here too
Not the worst Market i've seen ( functional might best describe it) But a pretty characterless place ( And that's no reflection on the People) But i think n the 60's when i assume the 'Mines' & u might have had other industries were in full operation,&people were probably full of positive Vibes! But yrs of being pretty much ignored ( is Newcastle the closest Largest City?) and it appears it's been stuck in 'Limbo'. On a more positive noten.i ,hink this was the area where the ' 'Charlton' family came from? Two greats of the game!
Its a dying town and very sad to witness
some cracking views
Great day oot Andy, magical place
I told some French truck drivers this story, They was gobsmacked, Some disbelieved, We had a good laugh, & more beers, I saw one of the drivers a while back, And he is stilling that story to other drivers, I like to think it's a true story,
I love it
Nice work
Another great video Colin.
Thanks Dave.
Hello from Canada. Well done!
Hello to Canada
It's being overwhelmed with new demographics just like Blyth and Workington in the past 12 months
Its very sad, especially with the amount of revenue taken out of the town by countless governments.
A treeless eyesore ...typical of those towns ...no idea of asthetics even a plant box is exotic .....er its a sh... Hole ...i know i come from there.
Generally the people living in Ashington are amiable, humble, & down to earth, we go there now & again in the summer when the Market is on, and have fish and chips, from the corner chippy, absolutely A1 delicious!
Ashington folk are what you say, amiable, humble, & down to earth, I met some lovely hard working people.
I lived at 250 Milburn Rd (next to Woodwork Shop) until I was 7 then we moved to Ellington. My Grandma had the shop at bottom of Milburn Rd, S&I Bewicks. My Grandad Stan Bewick was a bit of an entrepreneur in the old days. Was a great place to grow up. Lot of Meadowell scum moved up to Ashington after the riots in 1992. Pits closed before that, drugs,no hope........doomed.
I lived in Ashington for 8 years and it was incredible the speed of its decline. Very sad
Labour Party stronghold.
Shame they haven't fought to improve it 😕
It's a shame that all governments have taken the money from the coal and not reinvested it. Ian Lavery is a big talker but has only lined his own pockets just like the rest of them.
Slavery Lavery, Parasite of the Ashington people.
You passed the bird at the burger van when you passed Wilko the first time
Closed the Pits killed the town,
It's very sad to witness a dying town especially when the UK government made billions of pounds from it in its hay days.
@@thewansbeckwanderer6343 like every pit village up and down the Northeast coast...ghost towns.
I live 10 miles north of Ashington originally from Pit villages. Ashington was our regular Saturday visit for shopping , Pictures and Swimming bath's. My Mam and Dad would go to the Auction every Saturday and my older Brother would take me and my younger Sister to the pictures. There was a choice of three. The Regal, The Buffalo and The Wallaw We would have a look in Mains toy and cycle shop. The indoor market , Woollies and down to Crisps toy shop. Ashington had everything you could want shopping wise ...Many, many happy memories from a child in the 60's
It is changed so much since I left in 1973
Its a dying town very sad to witness Lydia
The film is fine, soundtrack good, it proves the old saying "distance lends enchantment to the scene"
0300 here in Canada I'm a Newbiggin lad justseen my mom on Ashington main street

Thanks Jane, its where I need to be x
@@thewansbeckwanderer6343 I hope you and your wife have a blessed ❤️🙏 life x
Brilliant. It looks even worse on film. You should send it to Aunty Beeb with an invite to make a documentary. Surprisingly little dogshite though; but then, we've smelt and stood in quite enough of that... ;-)
BOBBY AND JACK CHARLTON GOT OUT. . . . . . .
Anyone can get out if they really want too just like the Charlton's lol
My daughter lives here !! Wish she would come home to the Midlands ,what a socially deprived area
I don't blame you wanting your daughter to come home
Omg that was amazing. The water was so green
The water is crystal clear and the whole place is beautiful
Well the council did well planning that out didn't they 😂😂😂
