I am an old timer, 50 years of photography. I do own Leicas, Hasselblads, Rollei TLRs etc etc. Leica M lenses of F1.4s were never intended to be used for applications that a modern F1.4 lens on a digital camera is used. They were mostly intended as a low light lens for photojournalism where critical focusing for newspaper reproduction was meaningless. The images were supposed to be just sharp, not critical sharp. Modern concept of sharpness is unfortunately a byproduct of the digital age, where sharpness has become the defacto standard by which the performance of a lens is measured, absolutely irrelevant IMHO. I have a couple of Leica 35mm lenses, an F2.8 Summaron, F2 Summicron and an F1.4 Summilux ASPH which cost me an arm and a leg and few fingers twenty years or so ago. Unless the F1.4 is planted securely on a tripod and focused very very carefully it will not produce sharp results wide open or even at F2.8. The F2.8 and the F2 always produce razor sharp results from F4 onwards. Rangefinders are really point and shoot cameras and not what they have made up to be. Look at the work of Cartier Bresson and see how many images of his meet the modern criteria of sharpness. In the end I will quote Ansel Adams, if a photographer ever manifested the concept of image sharpness and technical perfection in a photograph, it was him. He said " there is nothing more disturbing than a sharp image of a fuzzy concept ". I think we all understand what he said. Just take good photographs and enjoy the camera.

Surprised to hear a photographer calling bokeh a “gaussian blur” . Jeez . Improve your creativity that’s the reason you choose m6 omg. I don’t know if it’s this millennial generation but something with those videos about people discovering film like discovering fire is obnoxious . Slow down your photography.... bla-bla-bla. No need to do a video to brag about your new M6 by the way you could have bought a canonet rangefinder for 60 bucks to fist see how you feel with film first ( amazing camera definitely underrated ) . Anyway love the shot of the sky with birds .

This is a very common "issue" all lenses have a "sweet spot". The point where the lens is the sharpest. I usually google the sweet spot setting for every lens I use.

How and why did you go straight for a Leica M6 when you've never shot film before? You would have been way better off with a slr style I'm guessing. Especially considering the fact that you don't even understand how aperture works and you're not familiar with manual focusing....🤔

It is great to see someone new to film. I love the Leica M series film cameras (I have an M3) but I think you should consider trying a classic manual focus SLR as well, not as a replacement but a supplement to your analogue creativity which you clearly have in abundance. This would give you a different and some would say easier focussing experience. There are many classic manual focus/manual exposure SLR's available. Might I suggest you try something like an Olympus OM1n, the same era as your M6 and costing a twentieth of the price!
