Solid video; thanks! A couple thoughts on your network/internet issues, as an IT guy: 1. Make sure the Eero device you have next to your internet modem/router is hardwired to the router, not connected wirelessly. 2. Connect your PC to the Eero device with Ethernet, rather than Wi-Fi. 3. The PSP lag/connection issues almost certainly have nothing to do with your Internet, but rather your local network; when connected to the same local network as your PS5, the PSP only needs an internet connection briefly when initially connecting in order to authorize with PSN, then you can disconnect internet completely and keep playing indefinitely as long as you don't disconnect from your local PS5. So, also ensure your PS5 is connected via Ethernet to the Eero device that's next to it (you may need to purchase an inexpensive 5-port gigabit Ethernet switch if you run out of ports on the Eero device). 4. Disable the built-in Wi-Fi on your modem/router completely, to ensure all devices are only connecting to the network the Eero system provides. Those steps should get you a very stable connection both with your PSP, and your PC. Feel free to reply if you have any questions, or send me a message; happy to help if i can.

I only bought it to go around the house to watch Netflix and TH-cam and those features do not work so I returned it and just bought a steam deck instead

Bro doesn't even have his PS5 connected directly with an ethernet cable to his modem... Anyways, if you're interested in a PS portal then I would suggest you download the PS remote Play app on your phone to see how your experience will be. My network is flawless. If I have my remote Play app on and my TV on at the same time, both screens look like they're in sync without any noticeable lag between the both. I definitely suggest you check out the PS remote Play app on your phone first, see how stable your network is.

I just bought a PS portal for $125 brand new off a guy on fb mp, couldn't be happier for the price. Sure it was an hour drive each way but you cannot beat that price! it's been awesome so far! only thing I noticed is the LCD screen which is obvious from my LG C2 42". Wish they made the portal oled, that would've been absolutely insane

I'm way late to the party. Things have changed at work and now I have time to rediscover gaming. I've been doing a ton of research. After watching so many videos on the latest consoles and handhelds I come away with the feeling like buying a Steam Deck now (Jan 2025) is buying something at the end of its lifecycle.

Great watch 🫡 my one gripe with the Portal is that its not a standalone device. Coz it does everything else so well be it streaming games or remote play with smooth performance but it lacks just that one extra step of being able to access our libraries offline natively the way we used to with like a PSP. Great video! I'm looking at both options and this helps. It looks like your using an Eero Mesh system since I can see the an Eero unit sitting next to you PC in the video. You mentioned mesh related issues that you were having at the start of the video, can you let me know what problems you had and how you solved them?

See , this is why I stop paying for this shit years ago because I knew they were going to start making shit free or at least try to make things cheaper, but I honestly just don't care anymore. Too little too late. I don't Know if I ever want to play this game unless they actually bring back all the content they stole from us. Back in September 2017, When I loaded up the game there was NO contract to sign, non. The game just loaded up. Which gave me the impression that I actually owned something. Then a year later with the forsaken dlc, That's when they started making people sign these stupid contracts that basically says they can do whatever they want.And they just started removing shit from the game that people paid for ! Such f***Ing bullshit and is so stupid. I've never seen a company do this or be so completely greedy. And the fact that they have the gall to do that and yet still charge you more money is ridiculous. They didn't even give you a refund for the shit they took away. And to add insult to injury, they even made the game free afterwards. At least when Black Ops made the 4 th dlc , Those who got the hardened edition a long time ago got that 4 th dlc for free because they already paid for most of the maps with the Special edition. What do people Get for destiny 2 who played since the beginning ,nothing. They basically just paid for an early trial that you can't even play anymore. They Literally removed The Destiny 2 in Destiny 2

What is your experience with using your portal away from your home/ps5?

I was hunting for one of those but scalpers have ruined it for normies like me. Can't find it cheaper than $320. But I did get a regular one. I appreciate this review because you're coming from the same mindset as me, same position too. I have both the Switch and Steamdeck. Gonna get the new Switch as well. But I just love handheld gaming. And TBH part of what's taking me so long to finish PlayStation games is simply sitting in front of the TV for so long. Now I can play things faster and easier on the go. It helps a lot

Man I sold mine after the same exact problems you initially described. I didn’t feel I should have to upgrade to an advanced router, my speeds are decent not amazing. And I was just fed up. I’ve been playing more single player games lately instead of Cod and I really wish I had just held onto the portal..

Sometimes streamline and simplicity is king. Thats why i still prefer console gaming over PC gaming. Sure so much more u can do much sometimes u just want to turn on and play.

Does chiaki work on other portable pcs? I got the onexplayer mini I which the forester is awsome but kinda wish I got the deck for cheaper. Trying to tell mine and want to get both these. Sure the deck better. But I feel like the portal is awsome for playing on the couch or in bed.

There's a rumoured pivot for Microsoft into handheld. This is great news for us, more competition the better. A fair review that splits people into tinkerers and out of the box users. I think right now in Jan 2025 - PS5 Portal as there is a lot of change happening in PC hand held coming this year. Who wins? GAMERS!!!

6:20 Get those TP Link meshed WiFi 6E*important* router at Costco for like $250. These will give you close to gigabit speed on WiFi, as long as you’re close enough. I have above one gigabit speed and I’m able to get about 1.2 Gbps on iPhone that supports WiFi 6E.

Thanks for mentioning the lag and input delay. I’ve seen many people say it doesn’t exist which is untrue. Do you have any stick drift? The first unit I got had stick drift on both sticks out of the box which sucked

8:15 That is typically the issue with these sorts of games. There is a puzzle with one answer. Keep trying to figure it out. When complete move to the next puzzle. Less emphasis on stealth, and more emphasis on "puzzle" solving.

With being burned with stick drift on two dual sense controllers , buying a ps portal feels like a scary proposition

Bought a Portal and unfortunately I could never maintain good picture quality after 2 min of connecting to the PS5. Didn’t matter how far or close I was to the console or my mesh access points. Even when browsing the PSN store the graphics quality was poor. Spent a week troubleshooting the problem from watching videos and reading reddits and none of the suggestions worked. I have fiber internet and while everything on my house works perfectly, I wasn’t going to spend another $200 for a gaming router just for the Portal to do its job. I returned it and will probably just get the Ally or Legion Go S

I have both. Personally think the picture is way better on the portal plus cloud is on it. But steam deck will def me my back up remote play

When it works, it’s amazing but if it’s not perfect WiFi connection, it’s completely useless. I enjoy it when I can but I need a little more great connections.

I have a 4k oled tv, and my switch oled too. The screen on the ps portal sounds like a major turn-off for me. I mean, an LCD 1080p screen!? Come on Sony!

You won't get 1gbps wireless. You would have to connect the device directly to the router via a cat 7/8/9 lan cable.

I got a free one through my company employee perk benefits. I was going to sell it or give it away but I may keep it now. I have the Legion Go but I do miss playing some of the PS exclusives. Thank you!
