    I just assembled the airbox, insertions made much easier by slightly heating the rubber with a heat gun. Everything came together nicely, except I have a one inch gap between the top of the airbox and the frame. Not sure if this is because the rubber shrunk. I am wary of using semi synth for running in but the last owner filled the tank with Silkoline semi synth. I notice that it is noticeably thinner than mineral. It makes me wary to use it for running in.

    I’ve got a 1975 GT550 that fouls the left carb plug. I don’t know how many times I pulled the carbs and tried all sorts of things to try and fix it with no luck. Change jetting, adjust float height, etc etc etc. Sick of carrying extra plugs and plug wrench and it dying on me out on the street periodically, I gave up on it and now it sits in my garage collecting dust. It’s in amazing shape, other than this ONE issue. The other plugs always look good. If you have any thoughts on why this may be, I’d love to hear them.

    • @peterholmes2067
      @peterholmes2067 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Sorry to hear of your problem. Firstly i would return your jetting and float height to stock. The float height is crucial here and cannot be adjusted. My first course of action would be to check that the choke piston on the offending carb is closing fully and not sticking on the bore as they have a habit of doing. This problem will cause the plug to foul and affect performance too. Secondly have a look at this forum www.kettleclinic.co.uk/kcforum/search.php? A friendly bunch and lots of info with a large GT550 section. Good luck

    • @peterholmes2067

      You should not have to reduce the amount of oil mixed. This pump works very well. If there is too much oil something else is wrong. If someone has taken the pump apart it's possible to reassemble it wrong so that it puts too much oil out at idle and not enough when the throttle is opened.
