Honest Reviews, Songwriting, Production & Technology From a Musician's Perspective
Logic Pro 11 Just Got A LOT Better! 🚀
The Logic Pro 11.1 update includes a number of workflow improvements to Apple's flagship DAW that users have been asking about for YEARS! Say goodbye to frustration with the new Plug-in Search function and the ability to arrange channel strips in the Mixer window.
However, the unexpected real star of the show is the new Quantec Room Simulator reverb plugin. Logic has always lacked a top-tier algorithmic reverb plugin, so this is a welcome gift! Let's jump in and explore all the fresh features!

hi Cuomo. your making life hard for yourself. Just click on any grey area on a mixer track to rearrange it or them.Your eyesight and patience will be gone trying to select that gap between the mute and solo buttons.
Haha... it's gotta be the mouse I'm using! That's the only place it worked for me. Thanks for letting me know!
There’s something very strange going on with that poor lady’s fingers. One seems to intersect another and pass through the bone. I hope she’s alright. 😐
My Photoshop / AI skills butchered her for sure 🤣
absurd that these are upgrades in 2024, use Ableton?
Nah, Logic has features that outweigh the absurd faults. I never gelled with Ableton. To each they're own, Cheers!
Definitely enjoying the Quantec plug-in…..the other stuff I was managing without….but they are welcome.
Dude, I totallay like your video as it helps a lot to get started. I wouldn't say I'm completely new to how a DAW works but being overwhelmed by the complexity and functionality of Logic I've never really dug into really making my own music yet (at the age of 53!) although I've played in bands since my teenage years. Your video just got me inspired and I'm curious to find out what I can do with it now. Thanks a bunch and greetings from Germany!
Awesome man! It's comments like yours that I love... I'm glad I can help people get inspired! Cheers from the US
A function that would be interesting to implement, would be the option to press the B key and the plugins that are in the tracks appear, you click on Track and show the plugins, not just the controls and equalizer, it would be good and save time..
Totally... like a "show all plugins" on the selected track function. That would be great!
I SENT THIS AND OTHER SUGGESTIONS TO THE DEVELOPERS, WHAT DO YOU THINK IS MISSING IN THE LOGIC, THAT COULD BE GOOD?
If you are doing Reverb then the 80s are the king of Reverb. No need to look anywhere else.
I tend to agree, unless you're looking for a Spring, dirty plate, or you're Stevie Wonder haha...
So... do you welcome these new updates, or is it just ABSURD that Logic waited so long? Thanks for watching!
I never missed the new updates to be honest. When you started out with a reel to reel and bounced tracks to overdub, any DAW is amazing. I think younger users probably can’t imagine what making music was like before computers.
@@Hammerman48 I hear ya... kids have it easier than ever, but it's just a different ball game these days. The Beatles were using the best of the best that technology had to offer in their time, and so are we. The difference is that bands used to have a thing called budgets... and time (years) to make new music, haha. Honestly I'm not sure who had it harder, us or them.
I THOUGHT SOME NEW FEATURES WERE COOL, BUT THE LOGIC STILL NEEDS SOME IMPROVEMENTS TO MAKE IT EVEN BETTER, BUT I LOVE PRODUCING IN THIS DAW.. LET'S WAIT FOR THE NEW UPDATES LOL
What do you think about the UAFX lineup, and the Enigmatic in general? Thanks for watching 🎸
😎
🎸🔥
Your haircut is awful
Thank you for the video, it really helps, because interface is so overwhelming, I didn't even know where to start :D
Thanks! I made this video just for people like you... I remember how confusing the interface can be at first, good luck and I'm glad it helped!
Much appreciation🔥
Awesome, glad it helped!
TH-cam channel video's SEO rating is poor of Due to this your subscribers and views are not increasing, and the titles, descriptions, and keywords SEO should be done correctly only then you will get good results. the same problem in Video every.
Your video quality is good. But your video views are lower. Because your optimization is very poor. Your optimization needs to improve as soon as possible.
I’ve found Logic stem splitter really good so far. Each track you split can vary….but I’ve found it to be great so far.
I gotta disagree. I've yet to hear any stem splitter that can do it without artifacts that make the signal unusable in a production.
Very good! Keep it up.
Awesome man, thank you!
A lot to like in here amigo
Thanks Mr Aylward!
Helps a lot
Awesome! Glad the vid helped out, cheers
As a decades long Pro Tools user that is switching to Logic, I found all of this very useful.
Awesome! It's great to read stuff like that, thanks!
Uafx is awful!
Although I'm not a complete beginner, I still find a lot of good help in this video and it's worth subscribing to the channel. Maybe I'll find a lot more good help in it ... Thank you very much.
Thank you sir! I hope that I can continue to provide value with my videos 👍🎸
awesome!!!! I need one of these!
Thanks! It's definitely the best musician man cave for me 😁
Great instructional video on Logic Pro drum programming. I'm most interested in gaining proficiency with the Logic Pro Script Editor for rhythmic ideas and more human sounding percussion. Funny ending comment to this video too RE: pot smoking drummers not wanting to get behind the kit. Hysterical! Gets at how it feels so magical when I get a chance to play with a live full-kit drummer, like it's a dream-like state. Anything a machine can do that is close is invaluable imo.
Thanks! Drummers man, drummers... I could go on for days haha. Have you messed with the Session Players much? I have gotten some pretty good ideas from just letting them rip and then tidying up the MIDI that you can grab from them.
I know you’re a handsome man, but do you need to be so large on my screen? AND, do you have to be so close to the center so we can’t really see what you’re doing? This is something I really want to learn how to do, but, man, you’re putting in some obstacles there, Ace.
Haha! I made sure to leave all of the important info on the screen. Is there something specific that I can pinpoint?
No doubt that the modern stuff is aiming for a more accurate representation, but something that should be noted, is that those earlier modelers were not trying to replicate a natural "in the room" raw type sound but more so a processed studio sound. Gotta remember a lot of those early units were used on thousands of recordings ever since the late 90's! No music fan knew the difference or that recording processes were changing behind the scenes! They sounded fine then when dialed in, so trying to do a comparison with a neutral tone really neutered that J-Station. The sound of what is today known as "modern Metal" (really just Progressive Metal guys who think they represent the whole genre) is even built heavily around the sound of heavily processed digital amp sim tones! Plenty of videos out there showing how the Line 6 POD 2.0 and Behringer V-amp still sound great and usable and sometimes even preferable to the newer stuff such as the amp modeler shootout from Anderton's a few years ago, although I am not knocking your effort here. Keep on Rocking brother! \m/
I appreciate your opinion, but I personally never liked the sound of post Y2k rock albums, until around 2008-10. I mean, if the J was going for "studio sound" then that only amplifies the limitations of the technology at the time. To each his own though... thanks for the thorough rebuttal 👍
@@cuomomusiccreation Thanks for taking the time to converse on the topic! One of my favorite Rock albums growing up was Crossfade's self-titled debut album released in 2004, which was recorded in Ed Sloan's home recording studio with a Line 6 POD Pro rack-mount setup. I didn't know it wasn't real amps until a few years ago when I started getting into modelling, so that reinforces my view that you can't tell the difference in quality between analogue and digital in recoded music! We'll have to agree to disagree on whether or not those late 90's / 2000's album tones were good or not and the usability of those early modelers! Cheers! \m/
@@SerpentsBane1995 Sure thing. In the end it's all user preference any how. One man's aliasing might be another ones "edge", etc. While not exactly cheap, I'm loving the new UA stuff. I can agree that it's definitely good times now for digital.
Dope
Thanks! This one's so dope that the YT algorithm couldn't handle the heat ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
yeah it’s kinda your first cross/over vid. don’t let that algorithm box you in!!
Excellent! This is where everyone should start with Logic 11, thank you!
Thank you, I agree! This video should have 50 trillion views 🤣 Seriously though, glad you found it useful.
Nice... Hell Yeah man. Thanks
Awesome, glad you found it useful!

Thanks, awesome tutorial.

I work on a MacBook M2 Max from 2023. I see that Maiwo makes a 40Gbps enclosure. Would that help me take full advantage of the Crucial P3 Plus Gen 4? At only $59.99 I'm thinking it's worth it.
Technically it should. It would be worth trying it out, run a test (both that I outlined in the vid are free), and see if the results add up. You can always return it if it doesn't work. Good luck, and if you remember then please report your findings! thanks!
Thank you!
@@ericlusher6281 No prob!
Do you have enough space for a booth in front of your workstation without effecting accoustics?
I'm a little confused by what you mean by a booth... a vocal booth? It's just enough space for a usable mix environment, but just enough. Any smaller would be rough.
@@cuomomusiccreation yes vocal booth!
@@cuomomusiccreation what would be your recommendation on dimension for a mix room??
@@Carrigan812 I see, this room would be too small if it also had a vocal booth. I'd say 16' x 20' would work. However since I have nice high ceilings (14' peak) and well placed treatment it works great for me as is (12' x 16') when mixing. That being said, a super duper mix room would be in the area of about 22' wide by 28' long or so, with ceilings as high as you can make them.
I actually prefer the fender sound on the Sansamp. Still holds up pretty well considering.
It totally does, especially on the clean setting. Distorted however, I don't think it really sounds like a tweed at all... but it still sounds cool!
Man, that J Station sounds like ass. I am a bit put off by the UA pedals because they charge you $200 just to look at them if an issue comes up. I use an HX Stomp, or my amp, or plugins.
Yeah, that J-Station surprised me! I hadn't fired it up in like 15 years or more. Terrible. I'm not sure about the UA warranty. I usually don't put much stock into that stuff, because I had the misfortune of being a computer repair tech for about 8 years, haha. How do you like the HX? One of the main reasons I bought these two pedals is that the touch responsiveness is kinda stunning. They react very lifelike.
Sub'd🤘🏼🎸
Awesome! Thanks again
Nice riff in the credits song
Thanks a lot! I was going for some Abbey Road vibes.
Cool song Bro, I will pop in on this Chanel and eventually Subscribe, appreciate what your doing and I mostly do Heavy Modern Rock, but I learn alot from being open minded and see you have Talent.
Thank you, I agree! I make more alternative stuff generally, but finding influence pretty much anywhere helps set you apart.
love this one
Thanks!
Nice! i'm just curious how you ran power to it. Cheers!
I burried two lines from a breaker box that used to be used for a steam shower. I can't remember the wire I bought, but it was pretty cheap on Amazon. I just got the gauge necessary for a 100ft or so run and burial rated of course. I didn't include it because it's not exactly up to code 😆 thanks for the comment!
good skills
Thank you!
I gasped out loud when you showed the sliding adsorption panel over the window. Nice work! Great idea...
Thanks a lot! Hope it gave you an idea for your own space 🙌
That looks really good 👍
Thanks! 🎸
what was the size?
12' x 16' with a 14' peak.
Looks great
Thank you! Thanks for watching.
