HOW TO LIGHT A GAS SPACE HEATER
Typical start up procedure for most gas space heaters. The brand in the video is Empire and it has an ignition button. Some heaters won't have this button and you will need to light manually.

Vinyl Railing Install Video
มุมมอง 130K5 ปีที่แล้ว
Video showing my installation of a straight hand rail section using TRX vinyl railing from a company called Polyrail. Hopefully my experience will help someone doing something similar. This is my first video attempt, so sorry if I left info out. Give me a like or subscribe if this is helpful and you want more videos!!
Thank you for the video many older apartments in New England still have these heaters. Any idea as to why it would go out after a few days of already being on ? Also took much longer than usual for pilot to light.
Thank you for basic simple directions
I can't seem to get my temp knob to catch to turn it up? Any ideas before I take it all apart?
Do you have two holes I got a heater i have installed yeat trying to figure out the vent draft hood has to outlets
I have the exact same heater, thank you for making this video as I didn't know how to light it. Only knew how to light the older ones you light with matches.
Thank you for making this very helpful video! I come back and watch it every year to relight my heaters!
Thank you! Lol here I am stressing out 😂 Y Blessed there are videos like this! ❤
I got a question for ya. I’ve lighted pilots for years. That being said we have the next model down from this one. When I light the pilot it stays on but I’m still smelling gas. I contacted the landlord and they sent their maintenance man out and he sprayed soapy water around the black steel pipe and said it’s not leaking. Now I went to school for plumbing and when I smell gas I know something isn’t right. I never really messed around repairing these ya know. Do you happen to know what could be leaking because I’m smelling gas so I know there is a leak somewhere but they are stubborn and insist it’s not leaking smh lol. I thought maybe you had a couple ideas I could check out. Thank you
I have one of these heaters. Does anyone know how to replace that with a baseboard heater?? Thank you
So i have a question its summer now how do i turn mine off im in a apartment building aswell
When you look at the gas valve turn knob to off position
To push the snow through solid advice rite there !!
If you’re worried about the inspector, then your work isn’t up to par!

@@coutes12 Can you help me?
What did you use to install the posts?
4x4 posts lagged into framing and Simpson brackets against concrete. Thanks for watching, I appreciate the support. More vids coming soon!
YOU ARE THE MAN!!! THANK YOU SIR
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching, I appreciate the support. More vids coming soon!
You should not turn out the pilot light over the summer with heaters like this. The pilot light keeps the heat exchanger from rusting/rotting out from the humidity in summer. The tiny bit of money you may save tuning off the pilot over the summer is not more than the cost of replacing the heater prematurely or having the heat exchanger rust out and leak CO2.
All these home videos of pilot relights do not cover any type of vent checks or flame characteristics. Both hand in hand for potential CO issues. That known silent killer usually around bedtime. Also no mentions of having CO detectors. Hey people out there, don’t be so stupid to think TH-cam channels are the end all.
Thank uuuu
Welcome!
Thanks so much!! Really needed this.

Good job young man. I am honored always by youth who can tackle constructive projects and not a life of video games.
Thank you, I appreciate the support!

Lol I’m from Boston area. I don’t realize my accent until I see my own videos and comments like this! Thanks for the support!
Like the was you did those treads. Nice work
Thanks, much appreciated!
How much did that cost?
It’s been a little bit since I’ve done the project but I want to say like $2500-3000.
Thank you for the advice/ tips
No prob! Thanks for watching, I appreciate the support. More vids coming soon!
love your weirdo dog :)
Haha thanks. Me too!
What is the drawing software? You said it so fast I could not understand
Sorry, draftsight. It used to be free, not sure if it still is.
So they pay rent. And they have to pay 1.25 to wash their clothes? 🤦🏼♂️
Yes that’s how it works. If this was their washer at their own house they would have paid a $150 appliance tech fee to show up too and have to pay their own water bill. A water bill which has a base fee regardless how much they use. There’s pros and cons to everything. I understand your comment, but there’s a lot that goes into it. Thank you for checking out the vid!
@@coutes12 that isn’t at all how it works here, Ig it’s just differences between states. They would typically include stuff like that in the rent. I just find it a bit odd.
The Waffle House has found it’s new host
This comment went over my head but I’m listening.
Is the bottom of that box shape open where the vent pipe going up vertically?
I have an Empire heater at my summer home that my grandparents had put in 60 years ago ! It still works fine but uses a lot of propane … plus being 66 years old it’s not that easy to get down on the floor to light the standing pilot . I thought that the new heaters had igniter’s now … like on gas ranges
Great video and drawings! This just made my project easier having all the proper dimensions to meet code for a new vinyl railing install. I have a concrete porch and poured two 5 1/2 X 15 inch steps over the original single step. After sixty years the original steps sunk leaving the top step over 9 inches!
Thanks! Just seeing this now as I’m planning on getting back to TH-cam and making videos! How’d your job come out?
Video idea How to change a thermo coupling
Good idea!
Thank you so much ❤ I love you man
Thanks! Love y’all too!
When I release the pilot to turn it on, sometimes the pilot doesn’t pop up and I can’t turn it. Once it does pop up, the pilot goes out…any advice? I have the same heater but smaller
How do you clean the heater 🤔
we vacuum out the inside of the heater before we light it for the first time
How low can thermostat be set before it goes off
Your not taking anything for granted and getting it right See everyday i ln earn something been doing carpentry for 40 years ..and There is always a better way That is inspiring,
Appreciate it! There’s a lot more skilled people out there, just figuring out what works for me and hoping it can help others. I learn so much from TH-cam, just trying to give back!
Nice great way to do it

The thermocouple? Pretty common to have to replace over time.
Thank u ..
Any pics of the build you could share? Like how you framed it all out with azak
There is some on my Instagram “dirtyhandsinitiative” if you scroll to the bottom and then click and scroll through the pics. Hopefully that helps.
Do you have a video on how you installed the skirting?
Unfortunately I don’t. Was one of my first videos, didn’t document the whole thing. My bad, trying to get better on future projects.
This is exactly the model heater in my new apartment, thank you so much!
Glad I could help!
Great video! Good tips too. I'm doing my railing tomorrow and found this video really helpful. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks! Good luck, let me know how you make out!
Hey, what is the software called that you used for the drawing?
