Decorating Cookies-Classic Movies | Gone With The Wind | Procreate Sketch | 3D Print Cookie Cutter
In this episode of Decorating Cookies-Classic Movies, I bring to life Scarlett’s Velvet Drape Dress. I begin by sketching my design on Procreate, then using Cookiecad and Cura to turn the design into a 3D printed cookie cutter. After baking my sugar cookie, I flood with Royal Icing as a base and then decorate using gel food coloring as a watercolor.

    I've had my Excalibur for years and use it to dehydrate foods, herbs, make yogurt and only recently found out I can use it for cookie decorating. I'm definitely ordering those teflon sheets! I have the 5 tray and the 9 tray, which one would be better for this application?

    Hello! I just got a 3d printer to do exactly what you have done. I just need to make my own periodically when I can’t find what I need. I can get the file and start printing but I think my settings are wrong on my 3d printer and I even after watching a million videos on how to calibrate it, my cutter starts printing fine and then messes up, do you have any suggestions or settings that were helpful in the beginning?

      Hi there! So I do have to send the file from my iPad over to my laptop (I save the file to Dropbox). On my laptop I have to turn the photo into a cookie cutter and cookie cad and then upload that file into the Cura program-this is what you need in order to make it a 3D file that your printer can understand. So you do need an actual laptop in order to use the 3D printer. Hope this helps!

    What type if filament do you use? I read that PETG is food safe. Is PLA food safe as well?

    • @g_gaming2893
      @g_gaming2893 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know I’m a year late but hopefully someone sees this and learns somthing. PETG (Yes is good safe) BUT NOT WHEN YOU 3D print it. When you 3D print the PETG you are creating a layer over a layer witch is by no means solid enough to be actually good safe. What I mean is when we 3D print stuff the material and objects we print still have micro pores where bacteria love to breed and spread. There is however a way to make PETG food safe with some clear-seal coats. Look that up if your interested!

      Hi Kyle! Yes I have saved a ton of money. Depending on the size of the cookie cutters I can make about 100-150 cutters per roll of filament. It breaks down to about a quarter per cutter. To buy similar cutters is usually close to $8 for one cutter including shipping. Hope this helps!

    I have an emergency question. Long story but I have to remake an order that’s going to be picked up tonight. I’m flooding them now can you use dehydrator to dry your cookies completely? If not can I use it for an hour and then how long do you think it would take to dry the rest of the way on the counter?

    • @jackievotaw324
      @jackievotaw324 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m so sorry you have to do that!! Unfortunately you cannot use the dehydrator to completely dry your cookies. I would not recommend leaving them in longer than 45 minutes or so, because it will dry your cookies out tremendously. Do you individually bag your cookies? If you can get away with not packaging them I recommend finding a box or way to package them so that they can lay flat. I hope this helps and please don’t hesitate to ask anything else!
