Hi mate where did u get the kart setup sheet?
Hi mate👋 I honestly can’t remember if I made it myself or just found it online. Used the same layout for years so just copy more when they are low, sorry
@@ComrodMsportno worries, thanks for letting me know 👍
Nice video 👌 was there that day too! Oil and the bumps weren’t ideal 😘
Too much bike for a gokart track.
It's pretty rare here in the US also. A guy I know just got one and he was looking for a while
Very informative with clear explanations. Thanks.
Slow down!!!
Strange how those camera angles speed everything up 👀
Think something like 2500 were imported from Japan into the USA and Canada sold for 2 years 2005 was the yellow black frame 2006 was the black and grey frame.. I have a 2006 myself black and grey in indiana in usa love the bike fun little scoot
Have you ever thought of using a shuttle valve so you can avoid modifying the rear master cylinder? i wonder if that will work.
You mean like a brake bias valve?
A shuttle valve ot double check valve, Used to allow fluid to pass though it from two sources, 2 inlet 1 outlet. It has a moving shutter inside, if one of the inlet has the higher pressure will move the shutter shutting the opposite inlet and allowing its fluid to move.
The idea is, using 2 brake master cylinder to 1 brake caliper.
also i read that, it allows reverse flow during depressurise
@@kimabella613 not something I’ve seen done but it sounds in theory like it will work. You would have to keep both master cylinder reservoirs though so more fluid to bleed/check/renew and you would potentially have more connections (failure points) in the plumbing 🤷♂️ maybe why it’s not common place
off topic but... can you see the ocean from your front door....
Not quite, maybe with some binoculars
Great video I have one also and spot on summary , these are rare as and will be selling it very soon
Why you selling?
Got too many toys and not enough space
Wuooo gracias 👏👏
I've been trying to sort my TCS issues aswell on my 14. I got the Tdrive rotors and since then, it's been a snafu. I have to do my forks on my bike aswell, hopefully I'll get out on Lagunaseca later this year.
If it’s just the discs you’ve fitted it sounds like an air gap issue. If the new discs hubs are thicker it will move the TC pickup closer to the sensor. I think the min gap is 1.2mm but don’t hold me to that! But worth checking if you haven’t already Laguna would be mega 💪 what a track!
That swingarm sleeve that you make on your mate's lathe will have to be hardened. How are you going to harden it?
I am planning on using EN19 which is a chromoly that can be bought hardened and a good engineering steel for gears, shafts, etc it can also be hardened with quenching or induction hardening for better control
Yeah it'll have to be case hardened after machining. Let us know how you get on, doing something similar myself. Did you have to take much material off the back of the gearbox to get the swingarm in? Great video.
👏👏👏🤜🤛🏻
👌👏👏👏
+1 like
Up to now the best explanation I've listened to. Spoken in an -even for non native speakers- clear and understandable English. Thank you very much indeed!
With that much dirt in the reservoir the callipers should have been disassembled and cleaned.
Nice vid…. I guess I’m going to be out of pocket 500 quid!! This pay day!!
Glad I could be of assistance…..can’t take it with you…..treat yourself 😁
Just bought a 2003 Mille R from my uncle today with 15k miles. Beautiful bike OZ wheels , ohlins forks and some nice carbon parts here and there and a few xtra stock parts and xtra panels. Mint bike. Can’t wait to ride it. Awesome review.
You won’t be disappointed, happy riding ✊
ide love to know what brand that brake bracket is. I though about buying a cheap ali express left hand side master cylinder and trying to mod a kit up. Since quality thumb brakes are so pricy
I have no idea of the brand as it was a second hand kit from a modified commuter bike but like you say, difficult to find hence the modifications to this one
Please keep these coming at other circuits
Quick question in regards to the side pods and rear bumper, would you then tighten them all in the wet?
Yes absolutely 👍 potentially add the extra bars to the pod bars too and seat stays to stiffen the whole thing depending on how wet it was and tyre grip
Hi 👋 very good job 👍 I would like to ask you please how much long need be the steel brake line from the thumb brake until the back master cylinder ?
Thanks 👍 This was a second hand kit from another bike so the line was already made, luckily it fitted. Was approx 850mm. If you measure what you need with string or similar, HEL will make you a hose to any length
@@ComrodMsportthanks man 🙏
What kind of master cylinder kit is that?
It was a second hand unit from a commuter bike that had been converted so I’m not sure on the clamp hardware. The master cylinder is a Brembo unit
Are the forks from a 675 or a 675 r? I've an r to do and wonder whether they're the same as these? Great video 👍
They are from a standard 675, the R’s have Ohlins fitted. I’ve not had a set of those apart, the internals I’m sure will have differences and certainly have a different fork cap, however all forks have the same components and operating principles
Will we get to see more videos on the R1? 🙏
I have a couple of track days booked for it coming up, hoping to get it on the dyno and weigh bridge within the next few months too. Anything particular you wanted to see?
@@ComrodMsport I’d love to see what you have planned for it I.e mods etc, plus if possible any advice you may have for R1 owners that having running issues like brake judder, suggestions for essential upgrades for road/track use? 🙏
That's a clever compressor tool for those that only have two arms. The web is such a great place to catch such useful videos! Doing my Hayabusa forks ready for it's MOT. )))
What is that silver blue bike on the thumbnail ive searched for it on the internet but couldnt find it anywhere !?
www.darrenbeggcustoms.com/ It’s one these guys built, company based in Canada, make some beautiful machines! That is the goal
Well that caught me off guard! 😂
😂 I’m pleased the war face still has it after all that time
Nice video fella! Only thing is you didnt set the rebound adjuster to ensure it has the correct range of adjustment. Depending on where the adjuster is set, it can change how far on the damping rod the cap will screw. This can also mean you effectively change the amount of preload. Same as if the cartridge doesnt locate properly in the recess at the bottom, will also change it. Still great video with great pacing.
Thanks for the positive feedback 👍 Yep, I totally get you 👌🏻 On that fork the damper locknut was basically wound all the way down, I set it back to where it was and the preload had the same range of adjustment as per spec but should have mentioned it
You're referring to the 13mm exposed thread above the nut measurement correct? Which can be obtained by measuring 13mm or by adjusting the rebound adjuster all the way out and then back in 3.5 turns and then locking the cap down? I'm currently seeing what the difference may be between using the service manuals 13mm guide vs almost everyone suggesting the 3.5 turn method. I believe the rebound adjuster method will actually work better.
@@SquidRider I’ve not heard of the 3.5 turn method, I will do some research. We are talking about the top cap lock nut on the damper thread. In this video it is all the way at the bottom of the thread. If you change the position of this it obviously changes how far the fork cap can screw down. This in turn effects the preload on the spring and rebound damper adjustment range
Seems kinda weak or am I bugging? You pressed it a ton to get the wheel to stop considering there's no 200kg bike to stop as well. Never had/used a thumb brake so I might be missing something.
I thought that too
I get what you saying, though I wouldn’t say weak, more progressive to give you better feeling and finesse. If you watch onboards of thumb brake use you’ll see they seem to get hammered quite aggressively and it’s for that reason. The super lightweight rear disc doesn’t help in that aspect either due to reduced surface area, it may be getting changed out in the future
@@ComrodMsport Thank you for the clarification
Good✅️
Anodised levers... hardest material known to man... Agreed, they are offensive to the eye!
You're going to have to eat a lot of chinese to have enough containers for the whole build!
I’m game 🤤
Challenge accepted! @@ComrodMsport
Excellent bike! I am currently restoring a K1 GSX-R1000 with 29K on the clock. Also came with that stupid tail tidy... I changed it back to the original that's been tastefully cut back so I can use the original (but LED version) tail light and nicer and more visible turn indicators. I'm in my late 40's and used to have a 2000 GSX-R750 back in 2001-2005 so this is kinda getting back to those roots. Never had a 1000 and this thing feels just violent... Lovely bikes!
That will be a lovely machine once complete 👌🏻 First bike was a K4 GSXR so always had a bit of a soft spot for them too
Thanks for this video. Very clear and concise instructions.
Alright mate, hope you're well. Let me know when you book a track day, I'll come along with mine 👍
Same to you n yours bud, certainly will do 👍
Surprised there isn’t an upper bush on these stantions, seems a bit odd to be honest Good quality video though, well explained, nicely shot and I like your compression tool
I can’t say I’ve ever seen another set of forks without upper bushes either 🤔 Thanks 👍
Nice bit of kit ,the old machines were built up to a standard not down to a price which is why they last so well and the surface rust will mostly wear off with use 👍
It’s used to be an engineers solution, not an accountants!
Had a touch with that! Can’t believe how clean the bed looks.
Unbelievable Jeff!!
Great bike i had one new in blue white .Fantastic bike cud not keep of it.
I had a couple of K4 600’s which I loved but actually prefer the styling of these older models the older I’m getting
Lovely bike 👌
Hi. Could I try to do this with the caliper still attached to my scooter? I guess I could heat it up with it hanging down attached, but would I be able to hold it with my hands whilst trying to remove the pin with the wrench? One mechanic that I was going to take my scooter to said he wouldn't remove the caliper, but I have decided to buy the tools and try it myself. I don't have a vice/clamp and I do not know how to bleed, so need to try it without detaching the caliper.
Hi, I wouldn’t advise it as it will still be full of fluid if heating it up and when knocking whatever tool into the rounded hole it will cause stress to the caliper mountings if not clamped securely in something like a vice. If you can find a tool that only requires gentle tapping to get to fit nice it might work, it really is a game of experience to judge. If in doubt, seek professional advice 👍
Ok thanks for the advice. The dealership mechanic definitely does this heating up whilst the caliper is still attached to the scooter though, so he must manage with fluid still in the caliper. I think I would be ok knocking the tool in. I can kind of rest it against a strong part of my scooter whilst doing it. I think I will try because these mechanics have taken all of my money for various things and I need to save on outgoings just lately
Great video dude! I ride my mille daily, its been just as reliable as my old honda vfr and one thing i have to disagree with is their reliability in the bad weather, maybe i have a lucky good one but i ride it in all weathers, hot, dry, cold, wet, icy, snowy, torrential downpores for hours on end, flooded roads, the wetness has never caused it an issue. Although its very well maintained so maybe that could be helping out too Anyway great video dude and safe rides 🤙🏼
Thank you, still learning. Need to work on and improve the audio a bit more for this year 👍 That seems to be a common theme in the comments of generally being fine in the rain A surprising comfortable ride for a daily! Safe riding ✊🏍️💨
very helpful video ,never done a full strip with any of my forks and always got Bob Grant to rebuild all my forks and rear shocks but after watching your video im for a bash at this myself .i build gearboxes thats my thing so im sure i`ll manage as your video is so clear and helpful . thank you for posting top man
great video on the Haga not many on youtube worth watching fantastic bikes and a joy to ride , i had mine 4 years and loved it so much but silly me sold it ,i dont think i could ever replace it as prices are way up now and good to see them making good money. im on my 8th rsv now and im never selling my latest at 60 now its all the bike i`ll ever need 04reg gen 1 R and last of the gen 1`s . your slow starting was just the very same as my Haga but i fitted one of my mates upgraded cable kits made by John Walker and problem solved also i never had any problem riding it in wet weather or really bad heavy rain never had any problems with my haga ever it was just perfect im up in scotland so you`ll know what i mean about the rain lol . anyway fantastic video and great review on one of the best Aprilias ever made thank you so much . john aka Mr Aprilia :)
Thanks for the kind words. A great bike indeed! If you know, then you know 😉Very underrated and reasonably priced when I bought it, made me love the brand
hi can you tell me what your Haga rep made on the dyno , having owned one myself for 4 years 199# but i never had it on a dyno to find out and sadly in a moment of madness i sold it .ps thats some garage i wish mine was like yours lol .
Hi, unfortunately no not exactly. I didn’t have a printer connected on the day so have no print out and can’t remember exactly 😩 however I know it was over 130. Thank you, it has been a lifetimes work so far and it has come along way. I may post a video of the build so keep your eyes peeled
