I'm doing a quick front end modification on this '07 Harley Night Train. I'm extending the forks by 6" but retaining the same ride height by adding 5 degrees in the Steering stem and keeping the Trail sensible. A cheap way to make a a Brake Piston puller to avoid damages while stripping a seized Caliper. These Calipers are from a Honda VTR1000 Firestorm / CBR900 Fireblade. The same can be made without a Lathe, but I did it this way to build a collection of various sizes for future use.

Lots of 4 speed gearbox videos on TH-cam but not many 5 speed, so thanks for doing this one. I need to take gear box apart and I was a bit overwhelmed at the thought, but after watching this video (and one other that I found) I feel better about doing it. The other video I watched shows someone assembling a T160 gearbox, which is pretty much the same as the T140 5 speed from what I've been told.. just slightly longer main shaft, but same gears and set up.

@@guerrillabuildchoppers4823 what special tools should I get for this job? I'm planning on getting a clutch hub puller and a sprocket nut wrench? Some new Tab washers are handy but it depends on the reason for dismantling it? Easier to put 1 order in. The clutch puller number is 61-7014 from Britishbikedoctor.

@@guerrillabuildchoppers4823 Thank you. I'm going to take it apart to find out why I'm occasionally going into neutral from 3rd gear on the down shift. It never happens while I'm upshifting, and it doesn't happen every time. I'm thinking it could be a warn camplate or shifter fork, but who knows. I'm hoping to see some obvious wear when I take it apart. Th plan is to order the tools I'll need, then place another order once I'm able to examine everything and see what I'm replacing. I'm a little worried I won't see any obvious wear and won't know what to replace. I replaced all the springs in the outer gearbox cover and in the indexing plunger, but that didn't seem to solve the problem.

Please allow me a question. Lately I changed the front sprocket on my T120 O.I.F. After all was remounted and the rear chain was adjusted, I had a disturbing experience. Mind you, she is my first Triumph. With a screwdriver between the primary case and the clutch (with little force) I can slightly move the clutch horizontally and the tension of the rear chain changes a wee bit as well. Are the said movements compensated by the antagonal reaction forces of the two chain drives during operation? Cheers!

Replacing Gearbox bearings is a really common job. Sounds like there is play in the High Gear bearing as that runs on the main shaft. If you open the box, replace all of them including the Layshaft. Britishbikedoctor have everything you need.

Was gonna compliment you on your impressive tool fella, but didn't want you gettin' the wrong idea 😂 I watched a vid last week with Dave Mitchell (Classic Motorcycle Channel) taking an early Trident caliper apart - first time I'd seen grease used to pop the pistons out. He switched the bleeder for a grease nipple, clamped the caliper halves in a vice soft jaws (to block off the passage ways), and then stuck a grease gun on - worked like a charm.

Close call havin' that internal throttle stuck open!. Reminded me of the time when I was a great many pounds lighter (like, less than 9 stone!) and was ferrying this fookin' massive mate back home on the pillion seat of my GS850... the handling felt so dodgy!. It was night and I was caning it down a straight on this unlit A road when my headlight blew... thanks to my then youthful reaction time, I flicked on one of my indicators and saved us both from ending-up as a pile of blood, guts and Japanese steel. Only ever made cables the one time, for my old Yam XS650 bobber.... this was pre-internet days when finding a shop that sold cable parts was nigh-on impossible - especially around these parts. I used the round brass pins from those old style 13 amp plugs to make up some nipples.
