Here is some history for you 1930s Lindy Hop is an African American dance, which originates from Harlem, New York City. It was danced first in the famous Savoy Ballroom by African American dancers in 1928, and was danced throughout the 1930s and 1940s.

I watched my parents dance 'swing' to this one night. They asked me to go with them to the VFW for dinner, drinks, and dancing. So... I went, and a preface, my Dad had crapped out his knees and back, but when he and Mom hit the dance floor it was amazing, all smiles and swing they did. They were alone on the dance floor and got a rousing applause from all the oldies in the room. It was magnificent.
