I broke my air box resonator while met with an accident and not getting it in any more does it affect my engine or i will be getting low fuel economy? Or my engine got some more ɓhp without resonator....?
Usually a better breathing engine gets better gas mileage I noticed I don't have to keep my foot on the gas all the time to keep the cars momentum going haven't noticed any change in mpg but the response and sound is way better
@Vtec_unlimited so should i put resonator back for better mileage?
@@_abdulkhan9398 it's not gonna be much or any different if u did
@@Vtec_unlimited ohk thanks for reply bro understood....
@_abdulkhan9398 no problem glad I could help

I have this problem. Mine says abs inop/ amd brake sensor is on. And i The brake sensor came on cuz i changed the tire
I just got 2 today from Black Friday sale buy one get one free 2 load out
I have the Granatelli cold air tuned MAF on my 1998 C1500 5.7 Vortec ext cab, and it works great. Was considering replacing it with this Jet one because it is very old, over 10 years, but no way after seeing this video. Getting P0171 and 174 codes, so I need to drill down exactly what the cause is, and definitely not just shooting the parts cannon at it. :) Great video and commentary. Not cool that the way they market this as a bolt on.
If you want a cheap way to connect to the DA of the ECM/PCM/TCM use a OBD1-USB cable that connect to your computer. I bought one for $58 bucks online from OBD Diagnostics and did a whole bunch of hoopla and got my cable to read live data while the cars running, it also allows you to log the data and see what OBD1 codes are thrown. Haynes book sitting next to you as-well makes it easier to see general problem areas. Personally my 1994 Z28 2D Coupe LT1 has 84 codes, dash codes of “ABS INOP, CHECK GAUGES, LOW OIL, SERVICE ENGINE SOON.” They’re not constant and randomly show up after driving for a few minutes.

Excellent information. Thank you very much.
My dad thinks if I take the 3rd cat off it’ll run like shit is your truck doing ok
@wesleykott5984 it didn't effect how it runs at all usually the third cat is only there for California emissions
What a waste of time anything but put on the distributor
I just bought one for my 2015 Camaro SS1LE. I have a k&n cold air intake filter on it with the new jet performance mass air flow sensor. It was running good for a couple days. Then I started tripping codes. It says I'm running too. Rich
Sounds like you got more crackle from it
2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3L So I just bought both the JET TB and JET MAF. My experience. “This consistently does not work with a K&N CAI“ without modifications. Thats from JET CS. It will work with most other CAI’s no issue. With the K&N with JET MAF you will pop lean 1/2 codes all day long and your throttle will be all sluggish and goofy. Put the stock MAF back on all issues went away. I’m also running a Diablo tune.
Thank you for clearing things up, other videos didn’t really mention that.
Were you able to find out what it was?
@vlone1592 one of the bulbs for the third brake light
@@Vtec_unlimited could it also be that my right turn signal is on and that's my my brake light sensor on the dash comes on ?
@Nick-m5w3s I would check the fluid in the resivor that's usually why the brake light comes on double check to see if all bulbs work and both filaments work could also be your brake switch behind the pedel
@@Vtec_unlimited it ended up being my alternator
@Vtec_unlimited thank u so much. What do you mean by filaments?
Thank you for posting vid.. I changed timing chain , when i put all back together could not get to start. i tried all the holes on the opti spark turned out to be the odd looking hole and it started. found it difficult to get the pin to line up with the hole . I thought I may have miss timed the timing chain.. big lesson i learned again is get motor started as soon as you can. I installed water pump but thankfully didn't ad coolant
🔥🔥🔥
air foils do ZERO to improve airflow. I tried a TPIs on a stock L98 throttle body on Carlisle Racing Superflow flow bench and it flowed ZERO percent better. They do nothing other than waste money on blister pack crap. You want to make your airflow increase get a bigger throttle body or leave the stock one alone.
@MasterWitchDoctor agreed some have lost power on a dyno with one
@@Vtec_unlimited you are correct sir, until you modify the part correctly by removing metal or replace it with a part thats designed better its not going to make any improvement by bolting on some crap.
They only do next to nothing because the bottleneck is in the intake manifold. If you have a better intake manifold that flows the air foil should help it. As pretty as the original one is, it's not the most performant.
@@ILoveTinfoilHats you dont know much about physics do you? Its a negative pressure wave coming from the piston crown on the down stroke when the intake valve is open. The intake charge isnt affected by the area between the venturi's its the runner length that determines that. TPIs did away with the long runners like GM did with the 1992 LT1 (TPIs Miniram) because its the runner length in a TPI thats the hindrance. The stock base is designed to work on a "stock" engine not a modified engine. As Richard Holderner has proven its the runner length that is holding the TPI from making high RPM horsepower. Extrude honing the base increases horsepower but it doesnt charge where the engine makes power. On a stock engine these air foils do NOTHING to increase flow PERIOD L98 or LT1. On a forced induction engine it "may" help but I'd see it to believe it. Please learn some you dont know what youre talking about.
@@MasterWitchDoctor Im an engineer actually what about you? Reddit expert?
So my car was fine before, i took off everything just because i bought the car and it was sitting for a while. I tried replacing the opti and now it wont start. I put it where the notch goes. I even tried putting back the old one and now it doesn’t want to start. I’m so confused
@@MenaceWrapped does it make any noise or just turn over?
@@Vtec_unlimited it cranks. It turned on right away. But then it turned off and didn’t want to start anymore. I put it in the notch where it goes. No clue why it wont start if everything is new and installed
@MenaceWrapped sounds like u got a bad opti

This may have solved my last 4-5 days struggling to keep my fbody running thank you
@KotasTirePlug no problem I hope your issue is solved
when i installed mine i made sure it was all lined up and it went on without a fight thinking it was all set. go to start the car up and she just sputters as if the timing is off. is it possible my opti is bad or possibly installed wrong even tho it was lined up?
The timing is most likely off even with my one from oriellys being bad the car still started but didn't run good a good way to tell if it is off is if it pops after u stop cranking it's definitely the timing

She sure does and I haven't really noticed any but I'm probably comparing it to my truck with the magnaflow trying to go up hills in that sucks
The new wheels and tires look great! I think the bodyside molding was put on to protect it from door dings in the parking lot. I have SLP Loudmouth on my Formula and TA and I love it. I do have the LS1 models, but I can guarantee Loudmouth is nice and loud!

How do you identify an open differential? Your example has G80 next which is a locker, but if it is open it just has no further G codes ?
Should be a Gu code same as chevy trucks so Gu 1 up to Gu 6
@@Vtec_unlimited yes, mine is a GU6 but that only identifies the ratio of 3.42:1, not whether it is an open differential
@kellismith4329 it is if it's not a g80 it's an open diff
G80 is not open diff. There are charts online that will tell you what your code means and is.
@@adamcrownvictoriacarrepair7105 there isn’t though, only the G80 code is identified, the GU6 on mine only indicates the gear ratio - I am assuming they only used that locking diff or an open in those years. I know mine is open by the way it drives, but I was curious about the coding
Thanks for a terribly inaccurate video lol
Thank you for the video! I will be sure to put mine on correctly. Thanks to you. I have an oil leak from my timing cover (traced the leak with dye) on my lt1. Right now, i have the opti, water pump, crank hub, oil pan, and more all torn off - fun stuff!

Removing these hoses from the throttle body is pointless. It doesn’t actually touch the lip part where the intake tube sucks in air into the intake manifold. If you were going these lengths to remove those two tiny hoses, then I would do a block flush and a radiator flush or replace the whole radiator and hoses/water pump. Because as soon as you unbolt those crossover plugs from the block, at least 30% of your coolant comes shooting out of the block.
Me too I'm trying to get it to the body shop earlier so I have more time with it this summer just waiting for the salt to be off tue roads
Glad to see the formula is getting closer to be on the road. I'm going to wait another month for mine.
The carven R is super rowdy with long tubes and catless about to switch to the TR
Gu5
I pulled mine out several years ago. I have AAA and I wouldn't trust a tire over 10 years old. Save weight and possibly get a little better mpg.
Hey man, good on you for telling people your experience and giving others a heads up. People like to conflate that only idiots get scammed but that just simply isn't true anymore. Scammers and hackers are coming from every direction and crap vendors like who you delt with are kind of under the wing of Amazon or whatever website someone may purchase from. Sure, they can receive negative reviews until they have to start a new online store because of their ratings, but they are never actually held accountable. Anyway I just wanted to voice my thoughts and appreciation 👍
My corvette had a magnaflow system on it when I got it and the first thing I did was cut that crap out!! I haven't heard a magnaflow system yet that I like!!
Different engines definitely makes a difference I think they sound good on ls engines ill have to wait and see what it will sound like on my firebird
@fbodyfanatics1997 my father also put a magnaflow axle back system on his 05 mustang GT and at idle it sounded pretty lame but at WOT it sounded good but that was it. Mustangs have always sounded really good since the foxbody to now but every one I've heard with a magnaflow system I haven't been impressed! And I have absolutely no clue why! They are really highflow systems basically straight pipe system with the mufflers being straight through basically as well.
@sarahgarcia346 most likely the car it's on most newer muscle cars have x pipes or h pipes that's makes a big difference it does seem like with gm cars ubhave to add high-low cats or headers to get the sound u really want
@fbodyfanatics1997 The magnaflow system that was on my car didn't have an H or Xpipe, and the system I put in has an Xpipe, and it sounds way better than the magnaflow did with or without headers.
@sarahgarcia346 I would love to add one to my car I'm also contemplating on getting long tubes and keeping the cats because my kids will be in the car otherwise where I live any vehicle made in 2007 or before doesn't have to pass emissions only safety
@4:45 @15:10
So how is the new optispark working for you? I'm getting one of those myself here very soon! I've been having problems finding a good one for my corvette but I hear great things about these hoping you are having good luck as well?!
So far so good it's been perfect I'm glad I went with it over a msd
@fbodyfanatics1997 nice I'm glad to hear! I have a 92 so it'll be a big upgrade to the vented!
@sarahgarcia346 if u need tips on doing the seals I have a video on that as well especially the water pump one
@fbodyfanatics1997 thanks but I'm basically a optispark master now! Lol plus everything is new including the optispark but it crapped out! This will be the 4th optispark since I've owned it! Plus I helped ( basically did it all myself) a buddy do his so technically this will be my 5th optispark in 3 years! Also yours is a little different you should have a pin drive mine is a spline drive. Mine actually has at least one more seal than yours I believe but the pin drive is a little easier to deal with and a little more robust. I could change to the pin drive as well maybe I should do that as well. Idk actually maybe they have the same amount of seals just a little different I think actually.
@fbodyfanatics1997 I talked with another guy who put of of these petris optis and said it's been running perfectly for 4 years now! Dude said he went through 3 optis in as many months and put the petris optispark in and it been 4 years!! I'm averaging one a year about! I'm sick of doing this job and hopefully it'll last at least a couple few years I'd be very happy! Lol
You should have done your research first. Should have also explained in your first video right away that if you have HPtuners these parts can be calibrated to properly function with ease. Save other retards the time and just tell them immediately. The only thing that doesn't work right about parts like these is the brains of 95% of people buying them, installing them, NOT TUNING FOR THEM, and then leaving a shitty review. Jet Performance doesn't respond to people like you because they know its user error and they're tired of people asking the dumb questions. Its crazy to me that "mechanics" or "car guys" think that an upgrade like this is just simply a tune-free bolt on. Comical.
Yo this video is helping me alot
Glad I could help
@@Vtec_unlimited I’ll be putting these parts on this week, maybe if I get stuck somewhere, I could hit u up for some help?
I just replaced mine in my 94 caprice wagon. I also relocated it away from the engine to avoid future issues with it heating up. I drilled out the rivets and mounted it on the fender. My only issue is the longer spark plug I had to make, I made poorly hahaha.
I soldered in extension wires, insulated them with electrical tape and then added that heat resistant plastic that can be bought at harbor freight. I wish I used heat shrink and crimp splices instead i think it would have been much easier.
@koraykumru1295 still sounds better then stock location lol
Thats the wrong airfoil
The airfoil period is why your car dynos less than it did at factory it blocks 50-60 horse power 100 cfm 220 with 275-285 without thats at wheels
It basically has more precision at reading mass air flow and no screen to restrict air. So im sure it will give you 5hp somewhere in the powerband you have to disconnect the battery otherwise it still has the factory presets in the ecu that will just run off the jet. No screen gives you the problems. You also need headers or hiflow cat ...
finally someone in these comments with a brain
Thanks for taking the time to warn of us of this problem. I'm going to install the seals and opti in a few days. I did this once before in one of my first C4s around 20 years ago. Bought a GM opti, in '96 it was $800. Got it in and the car ran worse. The opti was bad. At least the 2nd time it was lot easer. This was in the days before TH-cam so you were pretty much on your own. I think it took a half a day to just get the crankshaft pulley off the first time. Oh, the reason I did it myself was the Chevy dealership said the new opti and labor would be $1,800. I was thinking, how hard could it be?
No problem and I had to do mine 3 times I bought 2 optis from oriellys and the first one was locked up when I got it and the second one the cars computer didn't like the sensor inside so it ran like garbage and was misfiring the third time I went with one from petris enterprises and it's been fine ever since
U said other maf sensor is tuned richer? What is difference between this and stock is this leaner or richer than stock?
The jet performance one claims it changes the injector pulses and ignition timing however it's not tuned for cold air intakes it will run too lean with any type of aftermarket intake
