I just haven't been able to bring myself to watch this one. The constant terrible reviews have scared me off for sure. I will get to it at some point but maybe in a couple years when I forget about it haha.

My understanding of the tech in the movie (fuzzy cameras, etc) is that in Prometheus/Covenant the tech was a lot better because it was Scientists being FULLY funded by Weyland/Yutani. Whereas in Alien and Alien Romulus they were grunts and miners using whatever they could get their hands on which was usually cheap, scrap, half broken tech.

Great review as always. So glad you are enjoying the 80s flix Mike. Also I loved the Ewan Mcgregor Nightwatch, its got great atmosphere.

It was a strange movie but overall enjoyable . Glad that its doing so well.

Mad God is great and is a definite must watch just for the experience of it!

I didn't dislike it, but it was not what i was hoping for, just glad it was only 90mins long.

I didn't like MaXXXine as much as X or Pearl, but I did still really like it. More of a procedural than a horror, but was still very enjoyable.

Very good and thorough deconstruction of this film. When I began to watch this, I had absolutely no knowledge of what it was about. When it got to that part, I immediately turned it off and screamed, "I CAN'T WATCH THIS!" 20 minutes later, I was still thinking about it and wondered how it would end. My morbid curiosity got the better of me and I continued to watch. I'm glad I did because it ended up being a pretty descent thriller. I am reluctant to suggest it to others though. The few times that I have, I always preface it with a mildly vague disclaimer without spoilers.

The movie is on HBO Max currently if anyone is wondering where to find it. I only looked on Netflix before that and they didn't have it.

I think Ex-Machina was not great, but I would have enjoyed it more if it had been released under its working title, 'Short Circuit 3: Sex Robot'

Top 10 Witch is hard for sure. The only Witch movies I can think of (no particular order) The VVitch Blair Witch You Wont't Be Alone Lords of Salem Suspiria Gretel & Hansel Season of the Witch

I concur that Speak No Evil is a must see and I am very excited for the remake.

If this is in any consideration for best horror film of 2024 it is going to be a really bad year for horror.

I really enjoyed this movie. I was anticipating it for quite a while and was entertained throughout. I would def recommend a watch just for a few of the performances.

Comedy horror is such a dumb American illness and this movie is a prime example of it but I still watched it anyway because I'm a Dan Stevens fan and I'll watch any old garbage with him in it.

Such a great movie. It definitely deserved the Oscar. Nice choice for a review.

This film came out of left field for me, but once the main “shock” factor wore off from the main plot twist, the rest was very predictable for me which I found disappointing. BUT it was a fun film

There is a pregnant woman mentioned in revelations, not giving birth to Christ again nor an anti-Christ, but upon giving birth to the child a seven headed dragon comes down, and she is referred to the woman of the apocalypse so maybe the nuns were trying to bury her alive because it’s a sign of an apocalypse. I’m not sure if that’s referring to the end of days or just a general apocalypse because I would assume religious people would embrace Judgement Day but who knows! That’s just what I thought of

I loved this movie, its so weird, different, cool, gore filled, psychedelic, and a great time overall.

This is one that didn't really hook me on the previews. I will probably watch it at some point but I will wait for streaming.

The MPAA was a lot stricter back in the 80's on what they gave an "R" rating to. Today stuff like Lost Boys and Stand By Me would get PG13. It's funny because both of those were the first two "R" rated movies I saw back then when I was six and even then they didn't seem too over the top.

Because I knew you guys were doing a review I had to rewatch it for the first time in a long time. This movie always reminded me of Pleasure Island from Pinocchio but with vampires.

I haven't heard of this one. I might have to add it to my watch list.

I remember seeing the trailer for this one and thinking it looked not great so I never watched it. Dark Harvest was on my Top 10 for pure entertainment alone.

I really enjoyed Thanksgiving and IMO this might be the best thing that Eli Roth has made. There is a sequel in development and hopes are high that it will be as good or add to this one and not fall into the horror sequel tropes of worse but more gore.

One of the greatest movies in history no doubt about it. I would call it psychological horror. Also I think you forgot to mention the 1986 movie Manhunter witch was the 1st Hannibal movie, but Hannibal was played by Brian Cox and starred William Petersen from CSI: Vegas. It was written and directed by Michael Mann based on the Red Dragon novel that was remade for the 2002 movie.

So Friedkin employed jump scares while filming, yet there are none in the film. Thanks for the review.

A lot of reviewers got triggered by the "patriarchy" line, I mean, yes, it sounded stupid, but she was clearly joking about it, ( Victor even smiled when she said that ). Other than that, I agree with everything else about the bad decision taken for this movie.

Great movie choice. Fun time with a great cast. I think it was highly overlooked.
