    I just go with what Steve Dalton says - keeping resumes objectively perfect and subjectively good enough and using his 3 hours rule and use the time to prioritize the more important aspect of job search which is networking. Good interview though.

    The comment section is not the vibe. Some of y’all completely missed the point he was trying to make. Being high functioning does NOT mean it’s any easier for you to manage your daily routine while being mentally unwell, it just means that it’s easier for other people to deal with your mentally illness because you “appear” put together.

    • @IDNKMN
      @IDNKMN 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah wtf is wrong with this comment section??? Personally I was diagnosed wiht low functioning depression, didn’t do anything for 2 years, skipped school and isolated myself. So I can’t speak from experience but I have watched high functioning depression happen to a friend. She ended up almost successfully taking her life. Luckily someone was there and she was taken to the hospital just in time. After that she couldn’t do anything, just stay home.

      Being truely depressed has nothing to do with your circumstances. It's just straight up an imbalance. I have a great life everything is done for me essentially and I'm free to roam and do whatever I want anywhere I want but yet I still get insanely depressed to the point of hurting myself or others depression really has nothing to do with how shit life is

      Eventually, she did. She received another offer from Google and took the next one. Also, in her case, she had a very strong current gig, so didn't need to jump at the first offer. That is quite unusual but put her in lots of power for the negotiations.

    Totally agree: reach out for information, referrals, advice, etc. when people are relaxed and less stressed out. Less stress = more receptivity! It's a lot like getting press or making sales: building a relationship takes time and several touch points. When an early outreach connection occurs when someone is in a more open state of mind, it can accelerate that relationship a little bit more.

    The only conclusion I can take from this snippet is that the lack of diversity is intentional when the talent is there. I’ve known black and brown contractors doing the work and still can’t get hired.

    • @kadimacareers
      @kadimacareers ปีที่แล้ว

      My interpretation is it's easier to find talent and less risky to use proxies such as schools or prior companies that are indicators of capable talent. It would take more work for the recruiter to look beyond those easy signals. Therefore, while it sucks, for people that don't have the schools or companies on their resumes, those qualified candidates must find other means to get considered.
