I like your plans, but I almost think the reproduction honey comb wheels would look better on a Firebird than Camaro wheels. I don't think I have seen IROC style wheels on these cars.

I want to like anyone giving sincere and economical advice to help keep an old car on the road, but this hardware store fix is not for me. . First , it is a consumable part , so incorporating locktite red into the repair is probably not the best idea. Every other C5 in the world manages to secure the dam without the most powerful thread locking glue. secondly , the spring does not provide flex, it returns the dam to OEM position after the flex. I don't know if this is careless wording or a fundamental misunderstanding of the design. obviously a loosely attached air dam at highway speeds will not be positioned for best function. Buy a reproduction part before a used part, even if you only need the springs , because eventually the rubber dam will wear , and the springs can then be switched over to the reproduction replacement part . a $400 dollar OEM part is for a show car only, and is for an entirely different need than addressed here . That this repair only called for springs makes me question if the part was installed correctly , especially since fasteners were missing , because the part will install two ways, and one is wrong. I believe I could have scrounged up a spring of some kind, because the application is non critical , so if the first attempt at a replacement spring doesn't work, no harm will result from the experiment. If I couldn't find a suitable metal spring among all the automotive return springs in the world, , I would cut down a bungee cord or some other elastic device before I started redesigning the part to flex outside of the original design intent. because it would seem a hit that knocked off the OEM springs would exceed the travel of loosely attached rubber washers , perhaps bending stuff if the air velocity had already pinned the rubber washers and loose fasteners to the limit of their flex travel. . any repair that doesn't restore original function needs careful consideration. A lot of guys would have bailed out at the mere mention of hardware store, because they don't sell automotive hardware .

You got a great deal, these days I paid for a M7K which is the "upgraded" version $3629.000 out the door at Home Depot but they are $4300 and was told by a rep they are increasing its price on April 1st, eventually they will go up in price because people dig it and lots of weekend warriors want one for the garage, that and they really do not have competition on this type of lift makes the crazy price on everything they sell, when buying new there is no much saving, I have not drilled yet and are praying I do not have to use epoxy because that fucked up price of their epoxy kit they sell but already bought a long hose from them at $177.00, so it is good to hear the home depot epoxy would work ok albeit the fast curing time. I have the same bank 1 and bank 2 running lean however I thought it was the oxygen sensors my car got flooded out last October Rhode Island cuz we have had historical rains and it tore up my filter air filter and blew out an ignition coil so is it the oxygen sensors or the maf

I certainly appreciate sharing the knowledge. To me that would be a complicated install . but when deep experience was mentioned back in the first video I knew it would just be a question about the hole in the dash and how well the radio fit. Part of the expertise is shown with the out of pocket cost for the entire deal. This video really fit my needs. I once cut a dash and did a nice install, but in thinking about it later on, I decided that never cutting a dash, trying to make every change reversible, is better for the car. And before this video, I hadn't seen a lot of good options . Although I would have liked a more factual view of the final fit, how the edges look. Unlike this creator, I would only consider this install because of the rear view camera. And since the car turns 22 years old in October, the originality of the dash gets more valuable with time. I have no problem with keeping the original disk player and changer system in the car, I have a stock of CD's for the car and prefer to concentrate my audio money at home, where the speaker drivers are medical grade. I guess I caught a break for a rear view camera by already having a wire hole for the cd changer, but for those who have read this far, I id see a posting where a guy was pretty happy with a wireless camera, to avoid cutting a hole, but it wasn't two for nine dollars and I would rather have a spare.

Did this fix the problem? Your dash still had the codes showing and you never actually said this was what solved the problem.

Thank goodness you posted this. I also have a 2011 volvo C30, check engine light has been coming on and off. I borrowed my father in law's diagnostic sensor, but its returning "link error" so I can't retrieve a code for some reason. Anyway I noticed when I floor it, the acceleration is very jerky and hesitant. I'm fairly certain its the fuel pressure valve too based on my reading. I just ordered the bosch part and will be giving it a crack on Monday!

Amazon sells a "flexible oil funnel" that should help not getting oil all over. 👍
