also if the villians couldn’t open the spell book and got frozen, then how did they get the spell (WHICH COULD ONKY BE FOUND IN THAT BOOK) in the original time line? cus surely w that logic they would’ve been frozen back then? how did they perform and get the spell to use on bridget back then like?… there was just no explanation at all!

as much as i know the cast worked hard and are actually super talented, the movie was just unfortunate. like the guy who played hook was literally in Broadway, so it’s not that they aren’t talented as a cast but the scripts, songs and choreography is awful! they gave them nothing to work with. it’s actually so unfair.

(this is such a long comment n just reiterating some of ur points but anyways!) one of my biggest problems with it is jasmine and aladdin being together and attending the school. surely he would’ve been a poor street rat at that point in time? i know merlin said he made the school so that anyone of any status could attend, so technically aladdin could’ve attended, but i would’ve thought that he and jasmine wouldn’t of been dating at that point in time, as when jasmine and aladdin began dating they instantly married and began ruling the country, why would they be attending school? it would’ve made sense if it were just jasmine attending the academy and she hadn’t yet met aladdin at that point in time, but they didn’t do that. it just really confused me when i saw them together like huh? or they could’ve even had them both attending but not yet dating/on eachothers radar, but they had to make them date? it’s just awful, it feels like they spent all the budget and energy to get brandy and the princess actor (idk his name) back to try and get a different demographic to watch the movie, cus ik some people definitely will have watched just for brandy. the chad thing annoyed me for a different reason, it confused me that chloe was so goody two shoes and moralistic, and in the scene w her parents you see that they clearly are very big on teaching the ‘be good and fair’ shit - surely if chad was parented that way then he wouldn’t be such a bitch? like chloes so nice and her parents have raised her to make sure of that, yet chad, who is presumably also their kid going off the descendants lore, is horrible? where did they go wrong w him and why isn’t it explained? they could’ve had a line abt him and mention how maybe he’s reformed and he could be adopted and that could explain why he’s a brat bc of his past life before being adopted? but no they just act as though chloes an only child. besides bringing back a few old characters and having younger versions of the villains, it felt like an entirely different world in a way, like an alternate descendants movie. also it so badly wanted red and chloe to be like raven queen and snow white from ever after high, but failed miserably. and why the fuck did the queen of hearts have an english accent, but then her younger self had a american accent? seems to me like they wanted to cast rita ora to draw in people but didnt bother getting her a vocal coach. no descendants characters have had english accents, but they could’ve made it so that everyone from wonderland had english accents and that could’ve been a whole bit, but it was just the queen of hearts? cause usually if the royal family of a country all have one accent, their people do too. it was just so lazy! also yeah, rita ora looks very ethnically ambigious and kylie cantrall isn’t white (i assume she’s probably latina, but i don’t know for sure) and is casted as her biological daughter, which insinuates that racially, as a family, they aren’t white, yet they casted ruby rose turner who is so obviously white as the younger qoh/ rita ora? like why would they make an effort to cast non white looking actresses as the qoh & red, only to get a white girl as the younger qoh? it’s just so silly, while i think that ruby rose was actually so good as bridget, they could’ve easily casted a woc actress that looks more similar to rita and kylie. i just didn’t like chloe or red, they felt so one dimensional with red being the angsty, but with good morals deep down, ‘villian’ character type, and chloe being the good, but naive and ignorant character type. also the costumes were looked so cheap and busted as fuck, it was a crime against fashion honestly. it looks as though they were wearing a low grade halloween costume. you literally said everything i feel abt this, this comment is so long but could honestly go on and on about it!

In the song Life is Sweeter during Maleficents part you can see her horns shaking slightly which throws off the costume because you know it’s fake but seeing them shaking around really hammers in that it’s fake. During the original movies colored hair was reserved for only the VKs so having Cinderella and her daughter having vibrant blue hair really threw me off and didn’t look great honestly.

In the first film they make it very clear that Maleficient is the most evil & threatening of the villains. It makes zero sense to have her be a side character & Ulliana as the leader. Speaking of, if they are basing this off the animated films, why would she not just be Ursula? This causes confusion to the audience because nobody knows who Ulliana is because she was never mentioned or shown in the cartoon. 🫣🫠🙄 Also I hate that they imply that Cinderella pulled a prank when in the cartoon she was not a prankster and would never do that. Disney princesses are not pranksters. Prince Charming & Cinderella meet at the ball not the school hallway. No shade towards Uma she is the best in this franchise it’s just silly how she’s the principal of the school when the fairy godmother is still young & capable of doing so. I know they alluded to a part 2 but this could’ve been resolved with literally 30 more minutes of run time. They hyped up this school dance and big prank that made Bridgette hate people and turn evil to not show any of it. That was such a waste of time. Lemonade Mouth, High School Musical & Cheetah Girls will always be the superior musical DCOM franchise

Wait, relax on Brandi and Whitney Houston’s version of Cinderella… I absolutely get you saying that the new wave of teens and kids may not have seen that version or even know that Brandi played a version of Cinderella before BUT with that being said me and you are not that age anymore yet we still take time to watch movies/shows geared toward them and there are plenty of other DECADES old references that my young nephew had to check me on and I was born WAY BEFORE him😭 What I’m saying is you never know what references they’ll pick up on or surprisingly care about. Tbh I loved that cameo, although I do agree again that’s where probably most of the budget went BUT the funniest thing is probably not much to Brandi but, to her male counterpart😪💯

the movie for me was okay but it messes up the universe and franchise itself, like why are Cinderella and Charming in the same school as these characters like Maleficent, Fairy Godmother(WHICH DOESNT MAKE SENSE IN THE ASPECT CINDERELLA’S STORY)Hades etc for other characters. THE POINT OF DESCENDANTS is to see these characters after their HAPPY EVER AFTER and see their kids carry their legacies this to me was an………. AN CASH GRAB. They probably made this movie for the new generation of kids since loads of old cartoons from our generations have been remade for new generations, my only problem with this film was the rushed ending but I think that was due to the writer strikes and I feel these problems can be redeemed for d5

honestly i somewhat enjoyed the movie but i agree with every point made. the thing that annoyed me the absolute most was the costuming mainly with red, chloe, bridget and ella. their outfits are just… there? like nothing stands out about them really and they’re all monochrome which itself isn’t a bad thing but they’re all the exact same shade and it’s made so much worse by those god forsaken wigs. why are they just so large and ugly? ella’s wig pissed me off the worst 😭😭 it was so ugly. i wish they had given her regular black braids like 1997 cinderella movie.

If Bridget hasn’t become evil, then yes, Auroradon wouldn’t exist and Wonderland would be apart of Arendelle. But a theory I made could explain why Bridget was invited in the new timeline: So in the original timeline, Bridget became evil because of the prank that Ella did to her on the day of castle coming. And I believe Bridget had an involvement with the prank because Uliana couldn’t have opened Merlin spell book without anyone help. The book required someone who is good to open the book. However, Ella was punished because Chloe broke a vase in her family castle. Therefore, Ella never went to castle coming, nor did Uliana get her to do the prank on Bridget as her way of revenge for what Bridget did to her earlier in the film, and Bridget wouldn’t have turned evil. But Uliana would still resent Bridget for what she done to her. And I think it was possible that after Red and Chloe entered the new timeline, Uliana possibly did something to Merlin as Morggie was still stuck in the tree at Merlin Academy near the end of the movie and we never seen what happened to Morggie after that. And then, Uliana crew took over Merlin academy and Bridget got banished from Auradon by Uliana, who was the new ruler. Which would would explain why Bridget dress in the future is a mixture of pink. Red and white makes pink. Which could symbolize how Bridget isn’t fully good in the new timeline. Maybe her banishment by Uliana turns her evil in the new timeline. I also think that in the new timeline Chloe doesn’t exist and that Ella blames Bridget for not being able to go to the dance, so Bridget kills Ella as an act of defense or something. So Ella starts off evil in the new and Bridget starts off as good and pure like how Red and Chloe found her when they entered the new timeline. Lastly, I think in the original timeline Ursula never talked about Uliana to Uma because she was ashamed of Uliana for failing her plan of taking over Auradon, but in the new timeline Uliana succeeds and left Uma in charge. So she didn’t became the leader of the school because of King Ben and Queen Mal like in the original timeline, but because of her aunt as the original core 4 might have been erased due to Red and Chloe time travel. Red and Uma still exist somehow. Chloe would count as an aberration, which means she is not supposed to exist in that new timeline) as Charming and Ella never met in this new timeline. This could be why Chloe never looked for Ella at the end of the movie, but Red looked for Bridget, because Chloe doesn’t remember her mother, or her mother resisted Chloe like the way Bridget resented Red in the original timeline and that’s why she never cared for her mom.

The castle coming scene willl be in the sequel. We will see Uliana manipulating Bridget into opening Merlin spell book, because only good people could open it, to curse Ella in exchange to help her go to the ball as that was the day her and Prince fell in love.

I think it was explained that time doesn’t freezes when a character time travel. So Red and Chloe was looking into a future where Bridget took over the land and killed Cinderella. This explains why Charming came back so fast.

The whole Morggie, the son of the Morgana, character bothered me. I’m a huge Disney fan. Watched most of the animated movies. And even I couldn’t figure out who he was.

The reason why Usula younger sister was in the movie is because if it was Ursula, then it would make Uma the same age as Red and Chloe.

Genetics doesn’t matter in the descendants franchise. Prince Charming father was played by Victor Garber and Whoopi Goldberg. A white man and black women played the parents of a Philippines character. So Brandy Cinderella and Charming having a black daughter and a white son doesn’t really matter.

Problem 72 we didn't get to see what was done to Bridget that was so bad that it turned her into the evil Queen of Hearts the villain we know and fear today. Knowing that Uliana played a mean prank on her isn't reason enough. They added her iconic phrases "It is better to be feared than loved" and "Off with their heads" in the film I'll give them that.

Yup you're totally right I don't think Brandy and Paolo should've been brought back as Cinderella and Charming for Descendants 4 since they are from a totally different movie. Now if Disney wanted to showcase a black Disney princess they should've brought in Princess Tiana whom we don't get to see much. Former best friends Queen Tiana and the evil Queen of Hearts would be the perfect rivals. I'm just so fed up with the race swapping at this point Disney should give us our own iconic characters like our white peers. This race swapping shit is what is making movies today fall flat, they lack deep storylines and compelling characters.

omg girl you mentioned many of the problems I didn't notice in Descendants 4. Something to also think about Merlin believed magic should be used for good so I don't think he would've allowed VKs to enroll at the Merlin Academy to teach them magic so they can use it for evil unless they weren't villains yet and were good just like Bridget. Now that's a backstory that would make sense and fit the narrative the villains Maleficent, Captain Hook, and the rest should've been good while they were studying at Merlin Academy.

I think this story would've been better if it was put into a mini series, maybe it could've fixed the pacing issues a bit

the way that the recipe book just freezes the villains even if the girls was not there… i mean… why this movie even exists

So my biggest problem was the pacing. I noticed this movie was like 90 minutes compared to the originals that were nearly two hours. Due to this movie being cut short i feel like the story really suffered. They didnt have enough time to show castle coming. Explain what happened that caused bridget to turn to queen of hearts. And this is disney, why was time travel needed for this franchise? There are so many plot holes. If they just would have extended the movie by 30 mins they could have had time to not rush the ending. And explain what the prank was. Red and chloe change nothing about the original timeline, if they werent there the events would have still played out as followed in the original timeline. So why when they come back to the present day. Queen of hearts is just magically nice?? Why?? Plot hole. The events play out the exact same in both timelines. I agree with fight of our lives. Chloes vocals was autotuned like hell. Its like it was way too robotic sounding. Like they cranked the autotune up to 10000. Again the movie being cut short, hurt the movie a ton in terms of story telling. But i hope some of these issues will be explained in the sequel. One can only hope. I prefer the original trilogy they should have just stopped it there. This fourth installment was not necessary.
