Testing updated electrical track power with 5 powered locomotives. Replaced existing wires with larger gauge and all new connectors. Also added power wires to the two outside loops. When Fairbanks Morse introduced the Train Master H24-66 it was ahead of its time and most railroads didn't know how it fit in. Locomotives are all Lionel Legacy, PFE's are K-Line, various Lionel and MTH freight cars. The California Zephyr that joins in at the end, the passenger cars are all 15" extruded aluminum by K-Line. The caboose is a Lionel custom made for LOTS.

Finally a rest from all the rain and clouds in Silicon Valley, it’s a beautiful day at the Santa Clara Train Station. I caught a southbound Caltrain mid morning and panned the Santa Clara train depot building with a restored Pullman private passenger car parked out front. The train included #918 F40PH-2CAT pulling Nippon Sharyo Gallery passenger set.

The Southern Pacific freight is made up of Lionel SP 1760 2-6-0 Mogul pulling a mix of MTH, Lionel, K-Line, and Menards boxcars. The SP caboose is K-Line custom run made for, "The Western Depot", Yuba City, CA.

All three are good looking locomotives! I think if I owned that GP35 I’d be tempted to try to shim the pilot-frame gap down a bit more. That being said, Lionel seems to do a much better job overall in handling the appearance of the swinging pilots on their diesels when compared to MTH. My plan is to eventually go to fixed pilots and proper length handrails on all of my diesels, but it will be done incrementally…

Nice run session. Especially like that ferris wheel in the backround... and that hobo car. The preorder 2024 new Lionel set has a budget hit of almost $3800 for eleven cars, using the cheaper Charles Ro $179 per car preorder price. You were fortunate to build yours earlier. Very nice Christmas layout. Sadly, can not fit a layout in my living romm so we ran our Christmas trains on our main trainboard. Good job. Gary
Even though it’s just a model. Although a very nice one. It’s still nice to see the train cars with the company markings and not the new graffiti scribbles.
