superb reminiscing from Chas, great to hear these stories about Gene, a true rocker who actually makes the likes of Lemmy etc look quite tame
Contrary to popular opinion a lot of punk musicians were prog fans
love gene vincent and lem, lem was great as he always paid his respects to the great pioneers of rock n roll, fantastic interview
Blimey! His American accent's on the bloody money!
Gene and the blucaps were/are loved especially by the biker fraternity in England
We played supporting act Chas in Birmingham in the sixties, I think it was in Digbeth. We were the Dalesmen.great night.
Thanks for this video! I'm so glad I had the chance to see her sing at a rockabilly party in the suburbs of Paris. Totally amazing, it was absolutely unreal to hear such high voltage energy coming out of this lady. It was "the real Wanda Jackson", still rocking in the 2000's!
Beatles loved Gene, especially John, oh yes.
Lemmy was often asked about his influences, but never in that profound way. Liked to hear more of that. Now that the treasure chest is closed forever.
'Sounds Incorporated' were a good backing band for Gene...a bit later.
My dad played with Country Earl when Gene picked him up, and he went on to become Gene's piano player and road manager. Good to see Johnny talk about those times. Hardly anyone remembers or even mentions my dad, even though 29 seconds in Johnny holds up a booklet that shows my dad in the photos.
That's great! What's your dad's name!
I think the roadie he mentions was Peter Grant
Jack Neal was a lovely honest guy & he told me that there were no standby musicians hanging around, waiting to get a session-just as Ken Nelson says here,-funny how rumours get started?
I got to say, Gene Vincent was and is, my favourite Rock-a-billy, rock and roll singer ever!
Harvey Hinsley...wonderful interview! xo
Great interview!
The real king of rock not that other pedophile clown named elvis
Remember him entertaining a pub with his stories a few years ago ...the "Sow and pig "in thundridge not sure it's still there now ...
Incredible to think that Chas played with Ritchie Blackmore considering the direction they both went.
@jimbyrne2328 Might have taken a different direction and ended up in deep purple !
@@philipbrougham6360 Smoke on the Knees up Mother Brown.
@jimbyrne2328 good one !
@@jimbyrne2328 From the album entitled "Roll out the machine head "

Fantastic Gene stories from Chas. If only the Great Cliff Gallup had stayed with Gene.

Love Billy Zoom! Him and Link Wray are two of my favorite guitarists and were my main inspiration to learn guitar as a teenager.
Was that Aunt Bee in that clip of Hot Rod Gang?😀

Thanks for posting this---saw Gene supporting Jerry Lee at Croydon Fairfield Halls, England, early '60's------they were both great. Heinz Burt supported them; he did not go down well!!!!
