Back On Two Wheels: Conquering Imposter Syndrome And Knee Surgeries
Welcome to "E-bikes and RVs." I will share a candid and personal update about his journey with e-bikes and the challenges I've faced due to recent knee replacements. I will talk about my struggle with imposter syndrome, a feeling intensified by my absence from e-bike riding for nearly two years following surgeries on both knees. Despite these obstacles, I want to return to riding along Michigan’s scenic rail trails. I will also give you a peek at my collection of e-bikes, which are currently gathering dust in the garage, and I will discuss my cautious plan to ease back into riding. With my mix of vulnerability and optimism, I want to invite you to support my return to the trails. Stay tuned for more content on both e-bikes and RVs.

Sadly without a dealer network buying an ebike can be a crapshoot. I have a 2018 Radcity that needed a new freewheel and chain. Finding the parts was a challenge and currently if I needed a battery I’d be stuck… on back order. I’m looking at other models for an upgrade.

I just bought a use Rad runner bike that had major issues as well. It had the Bolton upgraded system. The controllers are both junk! The factory one, and the Bolton. In my time of working on this since july 2024. I have seen a number of these controller complaints with both rad factory, and the bolton upgraded controllers. Save your money and get something else! Rad electronics are the issue.Who ever they get their controllers from is sending out junk. Under power rated and they're failing quite a bit.

Anti-communism is why. It's a joint effort to ban Chinese imports all over the US and Canada.. That town isn't the only place. The reason is because you have fascist reactionary politicians, the tragic death is just an excuse.. It's not because of it. The big oil lobby and insurance lobby petitioned for this so poor workers have to get used gas engines to the pump. It affects primarily the working class and poor immigrants. Wealthy bourgeois cyclists cry hard and go whiny that roads are big and scary with us on them or that they ''pay for their daughter's moped license, so you should pay too!'' THAT's their 'legitimacy' for this?! IF YOU'RE AFRAID OF THE ROAD AND CAN'T SURVIVE A FALL, DON'T GO BIKING.

I have replaced the motor controler 3 times on my rad rover 6 in 3 years. Non were covered by warranty. Also the front axle is undersized and week for a 80 pound plus bike . The frame geometry provides a death wobble in the front wheel at speed ,you have to use the front brake hard to stop the wobble. I going to get rid of this bike soon , i unfortunately have alot invested. In racks ,tire liners ect.

As much as a good e-bike cost it only makes since to have some kind of insurance protection. At least from theft, damage or loss from fire ect. I have over a few thousand invested in two e-bikes and my annual insurance cost is $150.00. My home insurance does not cover any loss of a e-bike like my conventional bikes do.

Hey Barry, I just came across your videos for the no throttle and PAS on your Rad bike. I've been having the same issue for a year now and had gotten nowhere with Rad support. Some days I could ride my bike sometimes for 20 minutes or so then the PAS and throttle would crap out. Some days nothing would work at all. Since my bike is out of warranty, they suggested a new rear tire/motor, cost me $375. it cured the error 24 I kept getting but after a few test rides, the no PAS and throttle started again. I'm going to get ahold of support again and get a controller and wire harness and see if that'll finally fix my problems. Thanks for posting these videos!

Hi Barry, Thank you. I bought my 7th Rad bike first "non legacy" bike for my 60th birthday a Rad Rover 6 Plus in August of 22 It spent 207 miles on the road and then died. They sent me new controllers (I have 7 still in the boxes) I have been going around and around with RAD since Sept 2022. They sent me new wiring harnesses. Finally after 2 months of trying their troubleshooting, Rad paid for me to take it to a shop in Vegas where it sat for 5 months waiting for parts and etc..... It has worked sporadically since. DIED again on a ride - now has about 700 miles on it. I ride alone and live in the Mojave Desert. The #1 trick right after it starts up run it backwards putting the throttle on and off, that fixed it. For Now. I am afraid to ride this bike because it doesn't "not work" when I head out on the ride, it stops working in the middle of a ride. I live in the Mojave Desert. I ride early mornings and alone. It is a huge drag to have to walk the GD bike home. If I die in the desert because I got stuck on my RAD, I'm going to tell my family to sue RAD POWER BIKES. This Rover 6PLUS is not reliable. Frustrating. Sad because I call my Rad Rover Legacy from 2017 with 15,000 miles on it - "Radliable" that's what I ride most. My 60th birthday present to myself is a 2000 dollar Rad 6Plus pile in my living room. RGGGGG What Happened to RAD Power Bikes?

Sorry, but if you lived in SoCal, you'd understand why most residents want strict EBike restriction put in place - and I'm an EBike advocate - however, most of the EBike riders causing big issues here are from 12 to 16 years of age generally. They're riding in large numbers together, often blocking traffic, riding on the wrong side of the road, running red lights, running into people in cross walks, taking over local parks and turning them into obstacle courses, flipping people off (they feel safe because they know they can escape someone running after them quickly) - so the facts are - reckless EBike riders are ruining it for everyone. So yes, make their parents responsible, force them to register their bikes and get insurance, and if they're breaking the law and the rules of the road, fine the crap out of them. You'll find no one here shedding tears for putting regulations into place. It's about time it happened.

If there be regulation it should be with speed limits for e-bikes. 10 mile an hour is fast enough on bike trails especially with pedestrians and children. Faster speeds could be implemented on bike-only trails. People have to remember that heavy e-bikes take longer to stop unlike regular lightweight bikes. Minors under 16 don't know how to handle these heavy weights and can end up in more accidents.

These latest e-bike bans are just the latest in a series of knee-jerk reactions that get applied with all the measured jurisprudence of a sledgehammer. It's so easy to vilify "those darn kids" with their new-fangled whatevers. But, instead of regulating the actions of those who ride recklessly or (heaven forbid) creating bike lanes, it's so much easier and cheaper to blame the existence of the inanimate object. So, let's do it -- here are the new laws to be proposed: - Ban ebikes -- they cause accidents - Ban pencils -- they make spelling mistakes - Ban forks -- they cause obesity - Ban scissors -- they put people's eyes out

  • @kradwonders

Cars kill bicyclists and ebikers routinely in communities around the world and no one has called to ban cars as a danger. They call them "accidents" to deflect blame. They are not accidents. They are manslaughter. There is one incident in Key Biscayne which might not have happened if the bicyclist had been wearing a helmet, and there is a call to ban ebikes. Politicians are forever wishing to appear to be doing something to win re-election when they often are just making life worse.

I've traveled with my two Radrover to the Grand Canyon (excellent place to ride an ebike). I had an all weather cover that fitted around both ebikes to the hitch arm. I only used the cover for wet weather because it felt like I had a parachute on my 6-7 passenger SUV with the cover, felt the engine working harder to maintain the 75mph speed limit, and much lower mpgs. I do put the cover on when parked at a Hotel/Motel overnight and I can't take the ebikes into the room.

We have beautiful bike paths in Florida. I ride a recumbent Terratrike about an hour everyday. My average speed is about 5 mph. I don't like the big tire heavy e-bikes that go by me at 20+mph. They are usually driven by kids who are inconsiderate and they are going back and forth. No one ever pedals these kind of bikes. They are too heavy. They are closer to electric motorcycles.. I have had three electric bikes over the last 30 years and I loved them, I rode to work many times. I also crashed many times. We just need some common sense rules and maybe some cops on e-bikes at busy times. If you can't pedal an e-bike ten miles it's a moped.
