I first rolled my eyes when you started talking about distrusting doctors. But then actually, when I reflected on my own experience, I also had a misdiagnosed back injury, and it took ages until I got to see a back specialist medical professional to receive correct treatment, so now I see where you're coming from.

@@12Sanguine I wouldn’t say I don’t trust doctors, I’m just much more cautious after that experience. It gave me whiplash to hear I had a fractured spine and then to be told I didn’t a week later 🙃 I still take my son to a pediatrician but I did tons of looking and calling around before I landed on one I felt comfortable with. I’m so happy that you were able to get treatment for your back though! I unfortunately never got that and essentially had to figure it out in my own.

I was soooo tired. I heard from friends I would be tired but goodness gracious I was exhausted! I honestly had no previous experience with babies so I’m sure that didn’t help me. Also, everyone told me what I should be doing when I didn’t ask. I had two friends give me the best advice at different stages. My bestest friend of 23 years was watching me feed my 2 year old food and he would only want to eat fish. And I kept pushing veggies and finally she said that if he only eats fish right now that’s fine. He’s eating. It was eye opening! The second friend told me, after I asked her, to buy some cheap underwear when we started potty training and bypass the pull ups. Brilliant advice! He only ever had 2 accidents with the underwear. Most advice you can throw out along with the persons opinion 😂

I started tummy time with her on my chest, it was much less intimidating for her and for me 🫶🏼 Also, thanks for validating my decision to not follow a strict schedule. My intuition was telling me that just wasn’t right for us. On the co-sleeping topic, I want to co sleep so bad but my anxiety will not let me. With that being said we have done a lot of contact naps (she’s actually napping on me now) and she loves to lay in bed with me (I’ll only do this when I’m awake). I do think I’ll feel more comfortable with it as she gets older. For now I pull the bassinet directly up to the side of the bed so I can easily reach over to check on her or pick her up (this has come in handy a few times in the first month when she choked on chunky acid reflux) 🥺. We don’t plan to exclusively co sleep ever but I wish I wasn’t so scared for the nights I feel it’s needed. Talking to someone about my postpartum anxiety was such a good idea. The psychologist actually reassured me that everything I was experiencing was pretty common and that helped alleviate a lot of the weight/guilt I had been carrying. She was like you’re sleep deprived of course you’re feeling this way. Just someone telling me it’s okay and going to be okay did wonders. She also helped me understand that my husband is going to play an important role in my daughters development and encouraged me to let him be more involved and that I didn’t have to do everything by myself. My biggest regrets revolve around listening too much to what other people had to say. And not trusting my own motherly instincts/intuition more. I also regret not reaching out to my midwife sooner. It took me crying and breaking down for my husband to text my midwife that she needed to call me. I felt like a burden or like I was bothering her outside of working hours but it would have saved me a lot of suffering.

Oh my gosh! You did so good on his room 💙 I definitely made the mistake of putting too much stuff in my son’s room when he was born and maybe went overboard with the theme 😬 the dresser is super cute! I think that’s an important piece since theoretically you’d want to keep using it for years to come. We have had my son’s dresser for 11 years now! Love the videos so much! Also, looooove the kitty at the end! We have 2 😻 of our own.

  • @jamiestanley9234

Yes we definitely didn’t need that changing table! We were always in the living room area so it was not feasible to keep going back to the bedroom. We did have a small basic swing. I think it was $60! It was good while we used it. But not at all a must have. My child was “behind” according to most. He crawled later, walked later, and talked later than any other baby I knew. It doesn’t mean anything! He’s 11 now and on the superintendents honor roll. So let your babies go at their own pace!

It’s so easy to get caught up in what your baby or child “should” be doing. Even now I see it with parents as their kids get older. Sometimes I want to tell everyone around us to slow down and just enjoy the stage you child is in.

I love this video and already practise most of it. Doing some sports and having one hour in the morning (yes mostly at 5 or even earlier) just being present with our son is very crucial. I also notice that I tend to tense my jaw muscles a lot since I am a mum, and whenever I notice that, I try to relax that area and take deep breaths. I would like to add to consciously look at the miracle of your child 😊 look at your sleeping or playing or crying child, and realise what a wonder it is that this little being was once in your belly. Keep up sharing such great content Kind regards from Germany
