Have you since be able to complete your built? Update please. It is so nice!
@@juliendaoust6391 I had a busy past year, but am back on this project now! Frame is currently at the sandblaster, will post an update video soon
@@theclevercraftsman awesome! Can’t wait. I still working on my RE5 to.
@@juliendaoust6391 what all are you doing
Butchering a valuable classic. What a shame.
You know it’s oil injected like a GT right?!Priming with carb cleaner will roast apex seals in a hurry.
@@tp2315 yes they are, but when not using stock carb it seems easier to premix. You seem very knowledgeable about Re5’s, any downsides to premixing?
Why? The original carb is easy to work on with home made angle indicator etc. original carb is essentially 1/2 a vacuum secondary Quadrajet. The induction is not simple with small primary and large secondary, plus peripheral throttle at the intake port. It may run, but not well.
what headers?
Great job and thank you for sharing! My older brother had this same exact bike in 1976. I drove the 125 version back then . What amazing memories and times. You’re a wonderful son to your Dad.
th-cam.com/video/JWdQHNNX_Xc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=_vEdTqJ650h9Kw93 Looks like a smaller version of what we've veen racing! Very cool. Enjoy and have fun!
Can you do a in depth video on this tractor and the restoration process. I would like to restore our 1979 jd 2240 take the loader off and put weights on the front. Just gotta learn how to weld cast
Has anyone ever done this for a 2002 Malibu 23 xti?
Seconds of fun … 🥱
I'm hoping to pick up a 1971 TS185 this coming monday and I came here looking for info on how the Vape system works. It's very expensive! Especially shipped to the USA. Mine is missing all the lights so it looks like converting to 12v like yours might be the best option considering how hard finding original parts will be.
The Vape system is expensive, but shipping to the US is not an issue. Just look for a supplier that is local. I got mine from a retailer from Ohio selling new ones on ebay and it shipped out to me the next day!
Love the simple boat design. What would happen if you didn't put the keel fin on the bottom? Would it perform like an airboat?
Without the keel they really slide around and dont turn a very tight circle
Thank you.
I have really enjoyed watching your videos. Reminds me of stock car racing with boats. Live way too far away to see you guys. I do belong to 2 boat clubs already. Lol
We are the nascar of rc boating 😂
What kind of motor is this please? And how many CC? How wider you build your boat how slower he is.
The rainbow boat is a 21cc echo weed eater Boat is about 14” wide, runs about 25
@@theclevercraftsman What size off prop do you use on this motor?
Thank you for the trip down memory lane.
I have a 1975 one of these with the hideaway cluster but she needs so help she's not been on the road since 1996 I'm more than likely going to go the same route as you because with premixing because Ive not had good results with my past rx7s and RX8 and for a almost 50 year old bike I think premixed is the right thing to do. I'm going to keep my cluster and a the signal but the rest is getting modified parts are to hard to come by at a good price even if I can find anything for it the chrome is shot on this bike on the metal and plastic please put up more videos about this bike my rotary brother.
Hi more info ..how to buil one same you boat...😊
Check out the other videos on the channel
What brand is the new magneto ignition? I have a 1974 Tc 185 that needs upgraded. Thanks
Its a vape
Are these throttle restricted? Great to see kids getting into this. Circle racing looks like a lot of fun just need more rpm
Amazing! I had a '75 back in the day, and have had a '78 for 12 years now, super-fun bikes.
As usual, I seem to be a little late to the party. I hope that you're still monitoring your channel. I have thought of building such a boat for a while now. However, all I really know about boats, is that the boat goes on the water, but it's very bad if the water goes in the boat. You mentioned the requirements of the boats. Are there no dimensional or material specifications? You mentioned coming out to watch the racing, but you didn't say where it was happening. One of the reasons I've not followed up with building one for myself is that I have no knowledge of what "Boat Hardware" I would need, or where to get it. I can tell that you are in the US, but where? Also, what kind of speeds are these boats reaching while racing?
Rules to race with us are simple, flat bottom boat with a string trimmer engine. Dimensions and materials are all up to you. We race in the area around Greenville Ohio, if you are nearby you are welcome to join.
Thank you for the response. Is there a website for NASBOAT?
I sent that before I meant to. Looking at the map, you're just a little more then 200 miles from where I live. I've now watched some more if your videos and have learned quite a bit. Are you making your transoms from 1x4? The rest of the material appears to be what is called "Luan" in my area. I've also seen it referred to as door skin. It is low-grade plywood that is about ³/¹⁶". I say low-grade because there are plenty of voids in the inner ply. Thanks again for responding, and for the videos you've posted. Ciao
@@bob2161 I normally use hardwood for the sides and transom, that is planed down to maybe 1/4” or 5/16” on the sides and 3/8” for the transom. Then yes the bottom and hood luan works fine. We do have a website it is www.nasboatracing.com
@@theclevercraftsman that's great! Thanks for the info. If I'm looking at this right the transom needs to be beefy enough to hold the screws for the rudder mount and shaft strut. I imagine pine would bee too soft. I do have a few planks of oak I think I'll try. Thanks again.
Здравствуйте модете поделиться вашеми чертежами заранее спасибо 🙏
Is the engine a loss when you flip?
Oh no, pull the spark plug, pull it through a few times, new plug and good to go. I have flipped it multiple times per evening race session
@@theclevercraftsman Wow, fantastic. I think I found my sons next project. Perhaps we will race in the next year or two. These are fantastic!!

Help! You dont have another old plug do you. i bought one of these bikes and came with no plug just a oilly old rag in the hole i dont like it and i need it to make a adapter for a plug i any help would be much appreciated.
Where did you get those parts? I am having a hard time finding an overseas supplier. Thanks
Most of them were on Ebay
Hi i wanted to ask how do you mount the engines on the nasboats without drilling holes in the boat and making it leak
Usually we glue in wood blocks and bolt to those. I try to do rails spaced 5” because that is standard in the rc boat industry
@@theclevercraftsman thanks alot
@@theclevercraftsmanif I use woodblocks would the glue hold because of all the vibration of the engine
@@eduardsfarmgaming6092 Gorilla glue or modeling epoxy they will
@@theclevercraftsman 👍🏻
What a great son. And a great bike.
I just watched some vids and loving them it actually moves pretty darn good ! Even compared to a much more complicated rc brush less set up we usually run
Yeah the Milwaukee string trimmer works surprisingly well, about the same speed as a 21-25cc string strimmer
@@theclevercraftsmancan you send me any details on how you made the motor work? I am building one like this currently!
Literally just found the channel, been running and building traditional rc race boats for years and I love the idea of these nasboats ! Be interesting to put one together with a stock zenoah 26 and some trim tabs haha.I usually run flyskys just with a digital screen love them
Yeah I have some zenoahs, I should put one in there and see. My boat from this last year was a Stihl FS250 and those motors really fly for string trimmers! NASBOAT has been a ton of fun!
Sorry for the late reply it would fly with a stock 26 Zen! And that they do very good string trimmer engines try stihl hp ultra at 32:1 what my race engine builder uses as most of us do . And a good prop from bonzi sports. It really looks like so much fun ! Maybe I can build one and create a new class to get into
Looking for a 440 exciter or @ enticer 300-340

Any updates on the bike?
Love old exciters I had the 81 and my brother had the 78 although they were essentially the same model they were both different running sleds
It is funny how much different units run. I have found clutching and how fresh the top end is makes a big difference
Hey just found your channel i just bought a 75 blue one and there's no spark plug do u have a old spark plugs or know where i can get one thanks for any help.
I bought an adapter to convert them to a modern street bike plug

great .i had idea like this many years ago for the locals but it didnt catch on
Its been popular with the young men the last few years
I'm building a nasboat about 36"×12" in diameter,I'm running a 2200kv castle motor and esc. What size propeller do I need to run on a boat this size to get good results 🤔? Thanks!
For what we do with a string trimmer a Prather 270 for example works perfect. I dont have any electric experience.
