Awesome video! You answered your own questions about the "...two large protrusions". It made the life size filming prop "more stable" by adding those two additional sets of land gear bays to both the prop and filming miniature. If you look at Ep IV and the docking by 94 scene, you can see large metal stanchions supporting the filming prop when Han Solo is underneath.
Turned out great! You ever tackle capital ships? I'd love to see you paint up a Dreadnought or Carrick class in 1:2256 (that's in scale with the Revel Venator kit).
I’d love to see that too! I’ve done a B-wing fighter full build and started an Imperial Star Destroyer variant (an Interdictor prototype) recently. Check them out!!! The Star Destroyer is a very small Bandai kit and the B-wing introduces a new fanfic lore race. Coming soon is another Nargil attack fighter and a larger (but not capital ship) vessel. I’d love to get my hands on a Revell Venator or same scale capital ship. There are custom scale resin printed ships available through eBay and Etsy so there’s a chance I could get my hands on different types of capital ships including Nebulon frigates, Gazanti escorts, Arquitens light cruisers, and those you mentioned! Thank you for watching and especially for your kind and generous comment!!!
@@thatrandommodel I have a bunch of builds in Venator scale- a pirate version of the Tartan frigate, a Lancer, a Flurry type carrier, Strike cruiser, etc. got a few Dreadnoughts waiting for super detailing and paint (because I can't build anything "stock", I guess.0
PLEASE SHARE!!!
Thanks so much for the shout out. It is appreciated. This is all part of my favorite era of car manufacturing. Some real jems have come out of this era and this is for sure one of them. Appreciate your insight into this beauty.
You’re welcome! I’m sure all 15 people that watch this video will be excited! Lol. You’re one of my favorite channels and I found you after I started mine. We have many of the same tastes in cars! You keep building great subjects! Thank you for watching and your comment!
This is the former Lindberg kit which debuted in 1988.
This is true! And it’s age shows in its flash. This shouldn’t be too challenging of a build! A lot of great material of it in its test/drone paint and active duty grey! I’m wanting to do a active launch display like you’d see at the entrance of a military base or museum, possibly with a fence and MP Jeep or a welcome sign……
I have the Lindberg kit in my stash👍
Sweet car!
Thank you for saying so! It’s a beautiful car and one of the first to have this iconic shape that also appeared on the Jaguar XJR 15, Nissan R390, Porsche GT1, Pagani Huayra, and many many more! Hopefully, I can build it to look as beautiful and to its potential! Thank you for your comment and for watching!
@@thatrandommodel Yeah there was a BMW prototype car that was like that as well. Revell makes a kit for it. I forgot the name of the car.
I believe you’re referring to the NAZCA M12. Beautiful design!!! That’s a nice kit too! I haven’t put mine together yet, but it looks like it’d go together well enough. Revell from that era was hit or miss. Mostly solid, well made kits.
The MQ-1B is the armed variant of the Reaper.
That’s correct. I must have said the wrong thing. Thank you for bringing accuracy to this channel! I appreciate your comment! I’ve got more aircraft coming soon!
Very cool looking wide body kit! I like it much better than the AE86 👍
Sometimes I get caught off guard when I cold open these- like not realizing the fenders were already trimmed back. But as I was going through the AE85 from Initial D, something felt “off” about the body. It’s possible that they have a different body between the AE85 and 86 versions, but I kind of doubt that. I’ll figure it out. Thank you so much for watching and especially for your comment!!!
Nice kit! I built both versions, with and without the Hellfire missiles.
That’s pretty cool! Sounds like you like the kit. They were widely available through Hobby Lobby at a reasonable price, so I know there are several copies out there. Thanks for watching and especially for your comment!
Awesome tribute! Of course, these tiny Banda kits are just begging for a little diorama base, in this case a spaceport landing pad.
Thank you for watching and especially for your comment! What a great idea! I could recreate the scene from Sith where it’s landing….. thank you for a great idea!
I've always liked Fujimi kits and find they have a lot of interesting cars in their line up. The BBS wheels in this kit are amazing and I love the extra pieces you get. I have purchased a lot of the Fujimi extra sets like the drivers, the Bike and box, the Garage tools sets and so on. I wish those BBS rims were still available with the disks. Makes me sad. I am not sure, but I think Fujimi was one of the first with the removable bumpers which also helped to minimize the mold lines on their kits. Also love me some wagon kits! Good unboxing. Appreciated.
Thank you so much for watching and for your comment! Fujimi is my go-to for just about any subject. They don’t make everything but they have a vast catalog of different kits and especially figures, tools, and various accessories to replicate just about anything. Their quality is better than ANYTHING made in the US up through 2010 and is a simple yet accurate enough (I don’t like the AW11 MR2 interior at all or many right hand drive only versions) to be the choice for most modelers regardless of skill level! I see a lot of hate on Fujimi in comments on Facebook and Instagram but I could be quite happy if Fujimi were the only producer and not get bored too quickly. Have a great day and I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL AND INSTAGRAM!!!
Nice review
Thank you so much for watching and especially for your comment!
I love these hasegawa Macross kits. I have a few but I really should get more of them. Hasegawa did such a good job of the jet modes for these. I recently picked up the zero VF-0.
The whole line is amazing with quality kits and great decals! I’ve got several of these SV-51’s, VF-1’s in different variants including the orange 2 seater Rick flew in the first few episodes, and VF-0’s and the delta wing 2 seater variant D. Hasegawa does fantastic kits and their quality and detail rivals Tamiya in my opinion. Usually when I’m looking for a jet of any sort I usually do a “1/72 Hasegawa X,Y, or Z…” search first before looking at other scales or companies. I’m dying to see their Maschinen Krieger series they inherited from Nitto. And btw, I LOVE your series of new builds lately! Keep up the great work!!!
With the time change it’s almost impossible for me to see this live. Great unboxing tho
Thank you for watching! WHENEVER you can! I do the live streams as a way to keep me consistent and fairly regularly posting videos. I really appreciate every view, subscriber, like, and comment, so THANK YOU!!! Keep letting me know in the comments what I can do to improve. I hope these videos are entertaining and informative!
Good work, I may get one of these and do this. However you really need to cut away from your hand. 50 years of building models and cutting myself has taught me to be careful, and keep a sharp blade in your knife, a dull blade will cut you quicker! And to brace things I'm cutting on the table, (cutting down).
Thank you so much for watching and especially for taking the time to comment!!! I really appreciate great advice like that and need to work on my habits- particularly the bad ones. Lol. This is a great kit for a little desktop piece and fits together nicely. My only word of caution is be careful when putting together the superstructure on the upper middle unit. Make sure you glue them together first and check gaps and seams before putting it onto the ship section! I went in cold on this and noticed that as I was building but didn’t think it would be an issue. It’s not bad, just bugged me as I was going along….. keep building and keep enjoying the hobby!
I remember having that model had two of them back then turned them into new Sci/fi starfighters for wingcommander style should've had them hidden better tell my cousin found them and decided to blow them up i wasn't happy for that all that work gone up in smoke, I think that was 35 years ago.
Thank you for watching and for sharing that! How would you build it today? More sci-fi fighters? I never understood the concept of blowing up models……. Unless that’s intentional…. For a movie prop or something…….. I’m getting an idea…….. and that reminds me, check out the Lamborghini Gallardo Mission Impossible diorama video!!! Ü
Black Hole and 20000 Leagues are very different. Nemo was going out sinking ships. Reinhardt just sat still on the edge of a black hole. Totally different stories.
I have made errors in some of the things said in my videos, especially live (unedited) videos; and I really appreciate eagle eyed viewers that call me out on them! That’s why research is so important to me before each and every video I do. That’s sometimes why I can’t get to a new video every week. Thank you for watching the video and especially for your comment! I hope that I can earn my audience’s trust with the quality and integrity of the research that I put into my videos. I certainly try to be as accurate as I can be or at least pass on a bit of entertainment along the way, so whenever I can’t verify a source or detail, I try to make it clear that it’s an anecdote or I try to be quite obvious that it’s a cheeky joke. I will point out that not only is this a very well documented claim, even Disney sources are very, very clear on this fact. I appreciate your views on the differences between these stories and you’re completely right that those differences exist, and that’s why it’s even more important to fact check and understand the difference between a remake and a reimagining based on the source material. At the end of the day, many, MANY movies, novels, stories, and truisms are in fact based on a VERY narrow subset of other stories. You’d be surprised how many movies are based on other famous works. Have a great day!
@@thatrandommodel Your videos are great, but you're doing topics we Nerds have strong opinions on. LOL Don't get two Star Trek fans arguing about stuff
I bought this kit and I don't know anything about assembling it. Which glue to use what kind of paint to do. I am from india.. Can u help
Most plastic model or hobby glues should work just fine. I have been using Tamiya brand, which I try to show during the process, to great success. Testors has a triangular bottle with a syringe like applicator that I also like a lot. Use extreme patience when building and enjoy the process. If you need any help, message me on Instagram (same name) and I can share pics of the instructions or helpful tips while building. If you have the instructions- study them like you’re cramming for a college exam before trimming and assembly! I had to redo a few things. Google search images of the Panther that you want to build. They are mass produced but hardly generic. Many Panthers are custom depending on the customers preference and of course livery…. Take your time and enjoy the build!
Bro when is the second video coming.
I’ve had a lot of setbacks this past year for building and making videos. My new live format is to get me back on track and regularly posting. In the meantime, I’ve been building a few projects. I’m currently building a contest project on Instagram and in the last couple weeks. I’ve had a LOT of encouragement to get some of the in progress pieces like this one finished and posted and this IS a priority for me. All I can say, is that I’m trying to finish this and more projects and have them posted soon. Expect a new build video within the next few weeks! This is close to being done and I’m ready to finish it! Thank you so much for watching and especially for your comments! Thank you for your patience too!
Had this one. Maybe 14 or 15. Really liked it and don’t remember having a hard time building it.
That’s a great memory! Thank you for watching and for your great comment!
Okay! THIS is not that figure, but you dint say whether or not you HAD that figure!!! Tell us the truth! You HAVE that Boba Fett action figure- dunt you?!?!?!?!
I can’t afford to pay attention, let alone an action figure that’s more money than my HOUSE!!!!
You should totally do a time lapsed short of this build!!!
I want to see it in red!
That would be a fine color for this! Maybe a Snap On theme…..
That could be a fun video, but honestly, I could probably do the whole build without speeding up the footage like regular- just with a straight edit and fit it into a 15-20 minute video! But I could also do a time adjusted version for a Short! Thanx for a great idea! Thank you for watching and your comment!
Microprose definately stole this design almost unchanged for their F-19 Stealth Fighter game for the Commodore 64. The only difference is the canards on the game are rounded.
I couldn’t include every fun fact about this during my video but yes, it was used on many MANY products as the “definitive” F-19 stealth fighter. It was so ubiquitous that even Congress was convinced that this was what the plane looked like. Thank you for watching and especially for your comment!
Not meaning to be critical but a couple of things. First, to get better results from decals its better to give the model a coat of gloss varnish or in this case paint the model a gloss white. The decals go down better and there is less risk of "silvering" ie air bubbles between the paint and decal. No matter how smooth a matt paint finish might look, it has minute imperfections like pebbles that trap air. Gloss finish reduces if not eliminates that. Second, just dip the decal in water. Remove and leave on a paper towel while the adhesive softens. If you leave it in too long, the decal can float away from the carrier paper and can fold up on itself when you come to use it. Plus a lot of the adhesive can be washed away making the decal more likely not to stick down (although the MicroSol and Set definitely help). Side note the two large hull additions to the Falcon between Star Wars and Empire are extra landing gear. In Star Wars, the Falcon had only three landing struts - two at the rear and one centreline to the front. Empire increased the number to five although i have no idea if an in universe reason was given or indeed if there was a reason as part of the filming and production. Solo kind of retcons the Stellar Envoy out which is a shame. We go from a ship that looks more or less like a snazzy version of the Falcon to Landos ship with the snaller weapons mounts and fixed upward facing antenna dish etc and then back to the Falcon. The difference between Landis Falcon and Hans was all the hot rod modifications that Han made. I guess when Star Wars fell into Disney's clutches they just had to stamp "mine mine mine" all over it.
Those are some excellent points and well researched thoughts! Thank you for those fantastic tips and hopefully my skills will get better over time! This is definitely one of my favorite subjects and one of my favorite (I hate to use the word:) franchises. I really, deeply, truly appreciate you watching and especially, taking the time to make a well written comment! I certainly hope my other videos are entertaining, too!!! Thank you again for your insights!
" I guess when Star Wars fell into Disney's clutches they just had to stamp "mine mine mine" all over it. " That's the NuDisney way with everything they get their grubby hands on! I can't think of a single property or company that Disney hasn't ruined with their magic brand of political correctness and "correcting things" for a delusional vision of a modern-day audience which simply doesn't exist in any significant numbers. Do people honestly think Pixar, Muppets, Lucasfilm, and Marvel are better-run companies after their buyouts by Disney?!
Thank you so much for watching and for taking the time to read and respond to some comments! That is definitely a popular opinion that’s gaining more traction. There are also a lot of channels that discuss this very thing. I try to focus on what I love about the subjects I work on and this has been one of my favorite ships and one of the most iconic ships in all of sci-fi. Thank goodness there are people that still care enough about these things to support the things they love!!! If you love Star Wars, keep loving the things that drew you in the first place and maybe everything else will work itself out! In the meantime, keep enjoying the hobby and build a kit of something you love- you’ll be better for it and have an expression of that love to remind you of the things you enjoy!
I still have this model.
It’s about as aerodynamic as the Berlin Wall. Did they seriously shape the fuselage like a Smirnoff bottle?😂
Once you see that, you really can’t “unsee” that!!! Lol. I always thought it looked aerodynamic, especially when you compare the basic shape to so called “advanced stealth” shaped aircraft like the F22 Raptor, the YF21 Blackwidow II, the Sukoi SU57, and the F35 Lightning II. Sooooo, by your comment are you perhaps suggesting that all of these fighters are "NOT" aerodymanic, OR that the Berlin Wall is a proof of concept for a 6th gen advanced stealth shape fighter??? Thank you for watching and your comment!
@@thatrandommodel Yes to everything!!!! 🤣 You just got yourself a new sub!
I think the Stellar Envoy would have been closer match to the Falcon from Solo. I don't know if Bandai made one in 1/350. Still that Envoy looked Stellar!!!! Awesome job!
That’s possible! I think of the Solo mandible compartment as one of the luxury items Lando added to his version, but it’s quite possible that was how the Stellar Envoy looked before. Thank you so much for watching and especially your comments!
Promo-SM
Thank you for watching!
Yeah.... I had ALL Three (3) of these kits Way-back-when, when I was 50+ months old /s But Seriously..... It has been awhile, but as far back these kits were made and YOU making this video (recently Mar 2024)...I would make a diorama like an alien invasion using these a-c (aircraft) attacking some "Independence Day" like "large creature". MayBe having different markings....have the Actual F-117 with US marking, the 'Ferret' in Russian markings and F-19s in different markings ( maybe some Arab country or something to that resort...)
That’s a FANTASTIC idea!!! I love that! Thank you for watching and for such a fun comment!
But the real F117 is more like a big triangle with winglets sticking out the ends and the engines are flat in back and the cockpit is much higher than the F19 designs the twin tails raise up and point back too. Nothing like either model designs.
I remember those kits!
One of my “happy places” is standing in a Toys-R-Us and seeing the WALL of models and most of them being the Testors kits standing on end!!! And KayBee Toys and seeing their WALL of models!!! And Kay & Kay Toys and their WALL of models!!! And of course local model stores! Happy times! SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL HOBBY SHOP(S)!!!!!!!
Same! I built this when I was a snot-nose also! I was cleaning out my dad's place in 2019 and it was still there on the display shelf. Man. Memories :)
Thank you for sharing that precious memory! That’s a real awesome thing! And thank you for watching! Stay tuned for more kits from the 80’s, 90’s, and newer! The golden age of models lives on!!! I hope I can provide more conduits to happy days!
Holy cow! I built this kit when I was 12 or 13 years old. Crazy, nobody knew what the stealth fighter/bomber looked like yet. Wish I still had that model. What a flashback
Thank you so much for watching and especially for your comment. I remember when these kits were everywhere and they’re still able to be found on eBay, and elsewhere! I didn’t have this but I had the 1/48 scale Testors MiG-37 Ferret! What a neat design!
@@thatrandommodel good stuff, glad I found your video. I shared this with my ex Navy, aircraft freak coworker. I was just telling him about this Testors kit the other day, who would have thought. Thanks for sharing this kit, those days are priceless 👌
Thank you! I really appreciate your time and I hope I continue to provide you with quality content! It’s truly amazing how timing works sometimes….. lol
I did too
Thank you for watching! How did you build it? How would you build it if you had it again?
Love this! Had one and found out my cousin actually worked in Tonopah on the avionics for the A-6 (but turns out it was the F-117). He sent me a big packet of news articles after it was declassified in 1988.
What a fantastic story! I’ve been through Tonopah and there was a plane taking off from the runway while I was driving by! Thank you for watching and especially for commenting. If I get any ideas on how to build this one, I might build it one day!
Wow! Didn't think I would ever see one of these again! I had this model kit years ago when I was a young teen. Glad I randomly decided to watch this when It came up on my feed. Greetings from the UK.
Thank you! I’m glad you “randomly” watched this too! Please take a moment to see if there are more videos that you may like to watch and thank you so much for watching and especially for the comment! Hello from “the other side of the pond!”
Miranda class is an incredible design.
Yes it IS!!!! Not only does it have a very unique profile and have a muscle car like look (in my opinion) but the whole idea that the design department wanted a way to make them look different enough but within the same design language- makes this a very progressive and important design! All future ships come from either or both of these ships! You could even say that the movie was in fact based on TWO original episodes- Space Seed with the introduction of Khan, and Balance of Terror being a show down of two ships hunting each other in less than optimal conditions and where BOTH have the same chances of survival…….. Thank you so much for watching and your comments!
The nacelles were tough to put on this one - but I was happy with the end result. Great video - thanks for the unboxing and review!
Thank YOU for watching and for your kind comment! I just hope to keep providing quality entertainment for as many want to watch!
Kirk knows Kahn is probably monitoring transmissions so he sells his desperation !
Like he said later, whenever you “don’t know” if it’s being monitored you code (and they established the code within the message) and you assume you’re being listened to. The best part of THAT communication was Uhura desperately adding “We WON’T leave you!” That was ALL for Khan’s benefit! Those two scenes are like a perfectly balanced watch!
Thanks for sharing! Picked up this and the other two ( Weekend Wrenching & Shop Repair) as soon as I saw them and hope for more! Estes made the 'Great Garages' series and Fujimi has quite a few items in their catalog. Hobby Gear makes a bunch of stuff. Unfortunately, all of the later are 1/24 scale (some seem larger than that) and the 1/25 garage resin stuff on EvilBay is hit and miss in quality. Like I said, I hope Round 2 releases other sets in 1:25 scale. Stay warm & dry!
Thank you for watching and for your time in commenting! I really like the tool series I’ve seen over the years but there aren’t a lot of diorama builds featuring them. It’s funny how easy things can look “out of scale” at these sizes, so I understand your concerns over that. Let’s hope the manufacturers get their sizes better with new releases and they choose more varieties of subjects. Although things improve, it feels the golden and silver ages of model choices are behind us, but let’s hope that we see a new renaissance soon!
Have a great build.
Thank you for watching! I’m looking forward to building this! I’m open to color suggestions though!
Burgundy!!!!! Ron Burgundy!!!!!
That sounds great! Maybe a black cherry…..?
Looks like a flying Fiero.
That’s hilarious! Does that mean it has a sad engine that always wants to catch fire, or that the body panels can be swapped for a really lame, unconvincing, and cringy Countach fighter plane? Thank you for watching and your comment!
I applause for your attempt at Russian greeting. It ain't easy for an English-speaking person. Well done!
Thank you so much for watching and your nice words! I forgot to make a joke about Moose and Squirrel, and to say good bye, but I have more Russian themed videos coming……I think I figured out today how I want to build this one and some more lore……..
The "MiG-37 Ferret" is an original design by Italeri itself, a free creative interpretation based on rumors from that era. The lack of internet forums and instant fact-checking made the rest and turned this fictional design into a myth.
It’s a definite fun story! My favorite part is that all of this was left up to Italeri to figure out! It’s a fantastic design from professional aircraft modelers. Thank you for watching!
I had this kit but never built it. But just a few years after I bought it we finally got pictures of the F-117 and while this design and the nighthawk are not exactly the same, I was stunned by the similarity. They focused the design on older ideas of radar deflection instead of more modern curves but they didn't know that we designed the F-117 earlier than people thought and it's tech was based on those older ideas. She was a product of the seventies, not the eighties.
I remember putting this together.
It’s a great kit!
I always wanted this kit as a kid
Honestly, the 1/48 scale version feels the “right” size and that’s what I had as a kid. This one is 1/72 and I love that scale for a display or diorama, but this one feels a little small in that scale. Thank you for watching! How would you build this? How would you have built it as a kid? I just glued it together- and not very well.
Wow!
How would you build it?
Hi there. Looks to be a great build. I’m really keen to get one myself, as i’m just finishing up the Series III donor kit model. Any update as to when we might see this build video, or even a video of the finished model?
Thank you for your interest! To be perfectly honest, I don’t have the color yet for the body, so it’s been on the burner. If you go to DH Modelworx on Facebook, he has one like mine built and it’s AMAZING!!! I plan to get to it once I can source the right color green. I hope I can do half as good of a job as that guy. He’s a master! I do recommend the transkit though. It looks like a great kit with what you get! Thank you for watching.
The triangular clear piece would have been for the infrared imager and laser designator. I like the way the box was designed. The Su-57 would have never been possible if Lockheed Martin and Northrop had better security for their stealth technology. Thanks for sharing - I have this kit in the stash but want to try and get another before I cut open a sealed kit! LOL
Thank you for watching! I figured there would have been an explanation for the clear nose on every version. That makes a lot of sense. I enjoy the hobby and there are some kits I don’t want to open. This one will be a fun build!
Wow! This is a very old model as I'm 67 and I got this model back in 1960 as a birthday gift, that's why it has so much flash. The molds were probably made in the late 50s and it has been sold under a few different brands. I can't remember what brand my Snark was when I got it, I think it was a Monogram. Anyways I was surprised to see it on your TH-cam channel as it brought back incredible memories. If I remember correctly it came in three different plastic colors the plane was red and the other was yellow.
During my research (because I have a Revell/Monogram kit too) I found this was an older kit that Lindbergh produced too. The one sold under the jointly owned Revell and Monogram brands was a DIFFERENT kit completely. It’s nearly half the size and most are molded in red. The AMT and Lindbergh kits are 1/48 and over 17” long and the other kit is either 1/81 or 1/96 scale depending on the source and roughly 11” long; it also comes with a completely different base to display it on. I got comments suggesting they are the same kit. That’s not accurate. But what IS true and completely accurate is that I appreciate every single person who watches these videos. Please come back for more entertaining videos and builds! Thank you!
@@thatrandommodel Thank You for your reply. Dan
