I liked the video but you are being s littel to hard on ted i mean yeah ted sucks but he dosent suck that mutch if you take into consideration most ofe the sucky things are plot divices so if you are counting that you should also make barney suck more.

I just feel like it's a cop-out to not scrutinize barney's super sexist behavior on the basis that he's "not real". None of these characters are real. They're all caricatures how people act in relationships. Hell, Marshall might be even more of a caricature than Barney sometimes. The biggest issue I have with Barney is how terrible an example he set for men in the 2000's. I was in college at the time and saw his ideology towards women parroted in real life and online countless times. Which is ironic because you give him a pass because he's unrealistic and he ended up influencing men in reality. None of the OTHER characters in the show had that influence on real life but sure, ignore all that. He's a great guy 👍

THANK YOU for realizing that Lily is the worst. It's all the more infuriating because she never EVER gets called out on her shit, except in the episode where Ted calls her a Grinch. And even there Ted has to apologize to her at the end. But engineering all of Ted's breakups for something like a decade was some straight up supervillain shit. Plus there's the whole calling off the engagement thing, the running up the massive credit card debt due to her shipping addiction thing, the falling ass backwards into a high paying art job despite crapping out in San Francisco thing, and the making Marshall turn down his judgeship so she can take a job in Italy thing. She does ALL of this heinous shit, but somehow the show never recognizes how horrible she's being, probably because she was based on one of the creator's wives. UGH she drives me nuts when I rewatch the show now.

Barney and Marshall are my favorite characters. Marshall is a perfect man and partner but is a little silly and Barney is a terrible person but he is just so goddamn funny. The other three are terrible people but the series always downplays how bad they are

Lily is horrible for many reasons. She is a thief while being with a lawyer who wants to become a judge. She fantasizes about many other people while she is married and would act out on it given the perfect circumstances. She manipulates everyone and when called out plays victim and storms off or changes the subject and brings it back on them, has racked up massive credit card debt and has not told her husband this who she expetcs will oay it off, the same husband who just recently finished law school and has student debt, tells everyones secrets even to strangers, would equate marshall being offered a judgeship which could possibly change new york for the better and lead to a more stable family life to a trip to Italy for a year to be a eccentric billionaire's art assistant, a billionaire who has proven he would fire her in a heartbeat... For anyone to defend lilly is kinda wild. Objectively Barney is the worst not even close but lilly is riilght behind him

Ranking Lily the worst and Marshall the best is such a mans perspective. Marshall never respected Lily as a person or as his partner. He constantly allowed other people(his entire family at Thanksgiving, is dad, their entire friend group, strangers) to be a part of serious conversations in their relationship. As well as put everyone else above Lily(how many times did he disappear because Ted "needed" him. He continuously pushed Lily for things she wasn't ready for like marriage and kids etc as well as continuously invalidated her dreams. She put him through 3 years of law school after which he did not become an environmental lawyer and "save the planet" but actually job hopped constantly and fell into bouts of unemployment during which Lily still supported him and encouraged him to follow his dreams. Something he never encouraged her to do. let's not act like he couldn't have been supportive of san Francisco. They had done long distance before and could surely do it for a summer after 9 years together. He told her she wasn't a real artist, was mad when she worked too much after finally getting an art consultant job and randomly decided being a judge was his dream and nearly crushed hers that she was finally getting some 15 years down the line. I personally was just horrified every time Lily had the fight or flight urge to disappear on her husband and eventually child🤷

robin is way worse if nothing more then for the way she treats ted the freakout when she thought he was asking her for marriage should have been a total friendship ender.

Lyly's moral compass is really messed up. She constantly gives advice to others yet leaves Marshall in a mess and fled to Paris to pursuit her art dream (only comes back because it failed), forced her way in Marshall appartment because he wanted to meet him, controls to much of Ted's romantic love life (because of her view of the future) and so on and so on

Barney sucks also. One of the most suck thing Barney as done was conecting with Nora, proving to her she was different, fighting over her to then BETRAYS her with Robin...All and all i think Quin was the perfect partner for Barney and the writers couldn't even give him that...

I think Robin sucks the most. She dates Ted on and off then goes to Barney. Then separates from Barney, has some relationships of her own until Kevin. She betrays Kevin with Barney and gives Barney some hope but crushes it. After a while she chases barney (after the all Quinn stuff), marries Barney only to DIVORCE Barney because they don't connect.....God Woman!!!

I disagree about Lily. She may have inserted herself in situations but for the most part she was helping Ted or Robin best she knew how and tbh she gave some sound advice or was at times the heart of the group. She did Marshall dirty early on but she grew from that. She had to be the close friend to Robin, Ted and Barney that they could sound off their love life ideas too. She is clearly above Robin in this list.

Disagree. This is how I would rate them in suck from least to most, and everyone sucks. Robin (She's mean to Patrice, but Patrice doesn't seem affected by it). Ted (He's reckless with women's hearts, but he's earnest. And I don't see anything wrong with his delusional goals of finding "The One." He didn't MADE Robin give away the dogs. Robin is a strong, independent woman. She decided that for herself). Marshall (remember his antics with the slapbet. So unfair!). Barney (I do know men who objectify and mislead women to have sex w/ them, so this type of person doesn't not exist in reality). Lily (Yes Aldren Justice is the suck! and her manipulations and self-righteousness. Grrr). I could be impartial though, because Robin is my favorite, and the writers did her dirty. She was adventurous and lived her best life, but at the end of the show, they made it seem as if she had regretted her decisions because of Ted (yuck). This is what you get when you let a man write a woman character.

The easiest way to put people on this meter is to judge the show for what it is. A bunch of mid to late twenties individuals seeking a life long commitment and relationship. So the only real question you need to ask yourself is would you allow that individual to marry your son or daugther. The only person I could say yes to in that list is Marshall. There I took your 16 minute videos and converted it into a 1 minute read. If you think about it HIMYM is actually a remake of FRIENDS. Marshall is kind of Chandler. Barney is Joey. Ted is Ross. Lily is a blend of Monica and Pheobe. Robin is Rachel.
