    22:50 the problem about flash isn't that there's no hot shoe, it's that syncing flash with an electronic-only shutter is hard. You CAN actually shoot flash pictures with a Pixii: set the shutter speed to 1 sec, press the shutter button with one finger, and then press the test button on the flash with another finger… but of course that would work only under a limited range of light conditions, and getting the timing right is tricky. We're probably stuck with ambient light only until there's a future upgrade with a “stacked” sensor like Nikon uses in the Z8/Z9. For a better grip on the camera, Ikelite makes a small stick-on silicone grip for their underwater housings that works great on the Pixii. It's not a huge improvement, but does give a little more finger-grabbing area. It would be fun to see someone with a 3D printer create a beefier grip!

    Thanks for posting up this video. Iv'e been trying to find more videos on the Pixii and the Pixii max, it's been pretty difficult! I've used a couple of Leica's in the past (M10 and M240). Loved them both but man, both of them were so problematic. The m10's arm/roller would just jam up and pop out of place rendering the camera useless. The M240 also had some focusing issues. Got tired of it and started looking into Pixii. From what I can find, seems like a very solid company and they even encourage people to do their own VF adjustments by giving them detailed instructions how to do it, etc. Sure beats sending a camera off to Germany for 6 months! As compared to the FF Max, which do you think is the better buy between the regular Pixii and the Pixii Max?

    Essential Gear for me: Sensible shoes. Smartphone and mobile data access, for the weather, maps, points of interests nearby in a new area. Comfortable bag and/or a jacket with plenty of pockets for bare-minimum walk-about, (extra batteries, a different small lens). I'm still casual in street photography. I try to take a camera with me all the time, looking for opportunities to take pics or video. So, I guess I'm an opportunistic optimist?

    I like the idea of no LCD, somewhat like the Leica M-D or the X-Pro 3 (which I own), though being an app-driven camera…I don't know. That said, being a brand-new maker with no history, well….😏 I have been burned on buying in into “new tech” in the past, and for me $5k is a decent chunk of change to gamble with. Regardless it is good to see someone that I am following giving this camera a spin.

      I agree 100%, when I saw one come up used on B&H for a really good price, I felt it was time to see what this camera is about. It is truly like a Leica M-D or X-Pro3-with LCD screen up and I too owned one, not missing it due to this camera. And I am really liking the experience. More videos on it to come. Have a great weekend Cameraman and Happy New Year!

    • @kiwipics

      Unfortunately reliance on built in memory is a big no no for most people. Leica (even as far back with the T) did the right thing with having both the SD slot and upgradable (yes .. user changeable) internal memory. The lack of back screen is the other big draw back, and the could hsve implemented an LCD in the same way as the Xpro3. The Pixii is still too expensive in my mind.

    • @warrenc2306
      @warrenc2306 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Kinda missing the point of the larger sensor IMO. Pixel peeping middle frame is a bit lacking. The real reason to go Gfx is color/exposure gradation (especially in shadows), micro contrast, corner detail with gf glass, and low light noise performance(gfx50 has the nicest looking high iso noise I've seen in digital. Very low color noise). Recovering shadows in Gfx files is like nothing else I've seen.

    YO, is this the same Warren that stopped by PROCAM Ann Arbor a few weeks ago and we got down talking about Chicago Dogs vs Coney Dogs? Like, you introduced me to what a POLISH BOY is out of Cleveland? lol. I'm guessing this the same Warren. Lemme know how that Pentax 17 is working out. And thanks for sharing the knowledge. I just ordered a brick of expired TMAX 400 (supposedly stored proper like) and ended up here. So awesome that I found this. Hope to see ya soon.

    Good evening! Let's go backwards... I try to take my camera, any camera, whenever I go out. Living in the greater Sacramento metro area (capitol of CA), we've had a lot of 100 degree days all summer, even into the first week of October. So most of my summer photos are early in the day. I do want to get out more in the winter. I'm minutes away from the Sierra foothills and beyond that will be the winter snowline in a few months. A couple lenses are WR along with the X-T3, so hopefully I can get some fall/winter shots in the local gold rush towns. EDC gear? I think I'd be happy with a couple things to add to the kit. I'd rather not use a shoulder strap unless I have a long lens, so the Peak Design Cuff is on my wishlist. Already have a few small lightweight lenses, so I think the cuff will help me point and shoot faster than a camera on a shoulder strap. I use a few Peak Design products and I really like the quality and versatility. The other item would be a little bigger grip for the X-T3. I have one in mind already, just need to add it to my cart. Matt Stuart: book added to my Christmas list And diversity in photos... I need to get out more. I do like my B/W photos but sometimes I like certain color pics too. Good podcast, thanks for the ideas and conversation.

      Michael, thanks for sharing your feedback as always!. I believe you will enjoy the book as much as I do. I primarily use the Peak design cuff wrist strap. I am not a neck strap person. I find it more to my style of shooting and since I use grips on my smaller cameras, I do not suffer from hand fatigue. I plan to not let the cold get the best of me this winter, but Michigan does get cold. Cheers and Have a fantastic week!

    These cameras are so good today, it really comes down to personal preference. I shoot Sony but have tried a few Fujis. Ultimately the battery life and autofocus was more important to me and I stuck with Sony. the fuji cameras were very enjoyable to use and I can see why so many folks like them.

    I just jumped ship and went to Nikon and bought a Z8. I sold my XH2 and got the Z8 body for 3499.00. I wanted the XH2S and I wanted higher megapixels and I was going to buy the XH2S. Buying the Nikon Z8 was like having both of the XH2 and XH2S in one camera. I biught the 70-200mm F2.8 VR S and the 180 600mm zoom which were the main reason to switch. Now I have better focus better low light performance and a awesome lens selection. I get both Fuji cameras in the Nikon minus open gate. I loved my XH2 but I don't miss it with my Z8. I also biught the Tamron 28-75 F2.8 G2 lens and the Viltrox 16mm 1.8 lens.

    Awesome video! I'm just a hobby amateur photographer. I had started my journey with the wonderful sony a6000. Loved the portability and the sony eMount being a clever way of letting you use Full Frame lenses on an aps-c body. That led me to buying the wonderfully sharp and fast sony 24mm f1.4 g master. But then it kept getting me tempted to buying a sony full frame body. Fujifilm caught me with their film simulations and manual controls. I got the x100v, fell in love with the system, sold all my sony equipment and got the x-t4. I still miss the sony g master quality, but given it's just a hobby for me, and I don't need better auto focus, I hold myself to fujifilm for now. But am always glad to see how sony keeps making amazing quality cameras and lenses. Sorry for the long comment XD have an awesome weekend!

    I have the A7Cii with that 24-50 lens and it's fantastic. Agree about the Sony colors - they do take a bit more work in post, but once you do a few, it's pretty easy to get similar results to the Fuji SOOC. Glad you had the opportunity to try it out!

    Fantastic simulation recipe! One of the best I have seen so far, and really reminds me of actual bw stock. I'll try it out on the x100v. I agree, the grain is hard to level... at times it feels like there isn't enough, and I bump to small strong, and then it's too much... I wish there was an in-between, or might be I need to better control my high ISO limits. Curious if you have tried the recent Lumix cameras with their LUT functionality. I saw that they have 30 something in camera options, and you can edit and control them from a phone app. So far I have only used fujifilm simulations. Take care, and thanks again for the awesome video and recipe!
