Ryobi Reel-Easy+ String Trimmer - How to Easily Wind String! Quick Load of Trimmer Line - by DIYNate
DIYNate shows how to quickly load and wind the Ryobi Reel-Easy+ string trimmer head he has by feeding trimmer line (0.080 or 0.095 - 16 feet) and then winding it so it is ready to go for trimming the yard. Easy and quick process but easy forget to how to do it and not something you want to have to stop and find the manual to look up the instructions. Also, you don't need to take the head apart to load the string - that was just shown to illustrate how the Reel-Easy+ bump head works.

In this video, DIYNate shows his process for winding the Ryobi Reel-Easy+ string trimmer head that he uses on a variety of Ryobi shafts (gas, electric, and Ryobi expand-it heads). This head is extremely easy to wind and makes refilling string after burning through it a breeze. But, many of us prefer to check the video to make sure we remember how to do it and there are a few components that can be easy to stumble over. This version of the Ryobi bump head replaced their legacy version called the 'speedspool' and I also have a video on how to wind the older / yellow style version here: th-cam.com/video/yQofAncnb0Q/w-d-xo.html
This Reel-Easy+ head can be interchanged with other heads (like gas and battery) and you may find it on a variety of trimmer heads including Ryobi's Expand-It product line. DIYNate had a couple extra heads like this and thought it would be a good idea to create a video on how to string it. You may be searching for a comparable model number and I believe Ryobi uses these models to designate this type of head (AC04156 or the newer model AC053N1BFH).
Ryobi string trimmers (RY252CS and RY253CS) models may also use this head and the Ryobi Expand-it system allows for exchanging lower heads. This specific head can be attached to a lower shaft and then used on one of those trimmers.
Tips: Make sure to use 0.080 or 0.095 string trimmer line as the specs call for that and also puts a limit of 16 feet on how much can go in the Reel-Easy+. head.
Steps:
1. Cut 0.080 or 0.095 string trimmer line to 16 feet (one long line)
2. Line up the arrows on the bump head so that they point to the holes where string trimmer line can be inserted (again, you don't necessarily need to take apart the head to feed the string through and wind it; you certainly can, but it if you can load the string without separating the head, that is even easier!)
3. Push the 16 foot string through the hole on the housing; the line should come out on the other side (if it seems to give you trouble going through, you may want to separate the insert plastic circular disk and feed the line first through the metal hole, then through the middle plastic circular disk, then back through the metal hole on the other side to make sure the line goes straight through).
4. Make sure 8 feet of line (approx.) is on each side and try to make sure both sides are equal.
5. Begin twisting the bump knob or use the Speed Winder tool clockwise to roll the string into the head; leave approx. 6 inches of string on both sides.
6. You should be ready to start string trimming / weed eating your yard - enjoy!
Hopefully, this video makes it easy to get your string trimmer loaded! Good luck and appreciate you watching the video! Please like, subscribe, and comment if you found this video helpful.

    To be accurate, what you're referring to as the emergency brake is in fact the parking brake. Us it as follows and your transmission will thank you. Pull into whatever parking position is called for, shift to neutral, with your right foot still on the brake pedal use your left foot to apply the parking brake, release the msin brake pedal which allows the parking brake to take the weight of the car, then shift into park. Using the parking brake correctly prevents the park pin inside the trans from being loaded up with vehicle weight, and also saves wear on engine mounts and axles. Parking brakes save wear on your car when used correctly.

    So mine isn’t the black ring on the buttom but the clear ring above it. It came off & it doesn’t stick anymore to the bottom layer black ring or circle base

    • @DIYNate
      @DIYNate 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Ok - so actually, the clear / gooey style ring is what you want to wash off with warm water for a while. The stickiness will seem like it is washing off which is totally counterintuitive but the next day after drying, it should feel sticky again. That part should mount to the plastic black ring. So I think you are fishing in the right hole with this solve - good luck and hope it works for you! - DIYNate

    My battery is an OP40602VNM, 40v 6ah, bought in 2001 (past warranty, alas). I had charged it to full two months ago, but now it is dead (stored in garage). The voltage between T1 and T2 is 0.0v, between T3 and T4 it is about 0.15v. On the charger, I get the alternating green/red flashing lights. Clicking the battery test button gets no result - no LEDs alight. I have tried shorting between RST and GND with no result; also between RST and 3.3v with no result. Putting it back on the charger just results in the flashing red/green again. Any ideas?

    What if the connector from the original wiring harness if kind of fried???

    • @DIYNate
      @DIYNate 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That one is a bit tricky to diagnose or help with through comments, but if it is the connector from the ice maker to the fridge, generally, the icemaker will come with a replacement harness. If the issue is with the wiring from the refrigerator to the icemaker and it is the part that is connected to the fridge, you are likely looking at needing some pretty good electrical skills plus needing to disassemble quite a bit to get to those wires. Hoping your issue is with your wiring from your icemaker and it is on the easier end to swap out. You can also purchase the wiring adapters separately. Good luck and thanks for the comment! - DIYNate

And I found some things under the sink I didn't need to rebuy 🥳

    I just hope that you did not actually use the SAME plunger that you use for the toilet!! You failed to clarify the horrors of doing that, and I fear that MANY people went to the bathroom and plunged the sink with IT!!! 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱

    • @DIYNate
      @DIYNate 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I mean, you certainly could use a special sink plunger vs a toilet plunger, but that would be a little like having different wrenches and pliers to work on your sink than your toilet. I do understand the concern and the ‘gross factor’ but at the end of the day, probably good clean the plunger thoroughly and clean the sink thoroughly after use. What goes down the disposal isn’t exactly clean either so water backing up can be gross wherever you find it. Cleaning is important to your point. BUT…. I am not really advocating for a second / different plunger as that seems a little overkill - as long as you do clean it ahead of time. Disclaimer: I am not qualified to speak on the topic of germs or grossness - haha! Appreciate the comment! - DIYNate

    These Maytag ice makers must not be very good quality. 2 years ago, right after we bought this fridge, the ice maker stopped working after only about 4 months. They came out and put in a new one at no charge but now I'm having problems again with it not making ice except once in a while.

    • @DIYNate
      @DIYNate 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      So… the conspiracy theorist in me and the former salesman all would chime in and say, it feels like the icemaker is a great item to have to bad, so you feel like you need to buy a NEW FRIDGE. The term I am familiar with is (I think) called planned obsolescence. Basically, designing parts to wear out that will annoy you and frustrate you but not be a total loss. I feel like my Chevy suburban is a great example of this - dashboard split apart only 7-8 years after owning it. Door handles and hinges started failing not far after. Me being a DIY guy - of course I am going to fix it - but there are a lot of people who will think -‘trash it or give it away /and we’ll just get a new one’. Then, guess what: 2-3 years later, the new fridge’s ice maker will start failing again!!! Vicious circle. Thanks for your comment and sorry for my rant. Would love to hear from some engineers to validate that sometimes they design with intended failure in mind (from any industry)… - DIYNate

    If your water is dispensing does that mean your water valve is OK and working right? I just changed the water filter 2 weeks ago.

      Thanks Matt! I love the painting idea as well, but part of me likes the wood disguise since I leave my garage open from time to time. I use the heck out of it and certainly if I was building again, I would take my learnings and make it even better. Never thought I would love a homemade toolbox so much! Hey Nate was the base sticky in the first place or just a suction cup? The glue on my suction cup melted…

    • @DIYNate
      @DIYNate หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think it was sticky in the first place. If the glue / adhesive melted, you may still try running it under the warm water - you may be surprised what can be restored with that approach. Good luck! - DIYNate

    The issue with those things is an inherent design flaw, because moisture from the non-frozen section is allowed to go into the freezer zone. If it had separate compartments like the full size refrigerators have, then this kind of thing would be somewhat rare. Other than that, the utility of the appliance is nice. Just would be better if the companies making them didn't cheap out on some things.

      Good comment there - thanks for sharing your thoughts. It does seem to be a pretty common situation most of us face in the life of a mini-fridge regardless of brand! Best, DIYNate
