Summiting Mt. Whitney and Catching Trout Along with Way
We had a group of 11 of us make it up to the top of #MtWhitney at the end of September with beautiful weather. We brought fly rods and stopped at Lone Pine Lake to catch some rainbows and Mirror Lake to catch some brook trout. This hike was really tough but in the end completely worth it. Beautiful hike and awesome time.

Dove 2024. Another slow year. It felt like there was rain maybe a few days before which pushed the birds south. We usually do well here, but with the rain it was rough. I got 5 on the day. Some land which has been posted in the pastas not huntable was not posted this year so I tried it and got a couple more to end the day. Beautiful California Alpine Creek Fishing - Cottonwood Creek
มุมมอง 74หลายเดือนก่อน
We went up to hike and fish Cottonwood Creek the day before we hiked Mount Whitney (video coming soon). It was a beautiful creek and very nice to just get away. It was worth the little day hike we did and I will be back to fish it more. Catching Too Many Trout to Count - Fishmas 2024
Take me hunting with you
Let's go!
Let’s go dodgers!
Great game
The first time I fished intake 2 was 60 years ago, love bishop creek!
Going up there this weekend! Should still be great
Hey I getting in to duck hunting and I live near the area do you have any tips for hunting the area? do you need to reservation to hunt
You don't need a reservation really but you can apply online. You can show up before 330am to get on the wait list and then get a leftover blind.
Did the planes battery die?
Lol
Fish slayer 😮
Trying!
Looks like a great trip! We had so much fun this year with the family. Love the Kenai!!!
I want to get back up there it was great!
Snagging 😂
😂
So I live in AK and fished everywhere pretty much and this is more snagging than fishing! Unless you’re in the ocean I’m leaning toward not legal
Hope it's legal otherwise the guide business on that lake is illegal
Taking a weight to the face is ZERO fun. Seen that happen many times over the years. Ouch! Looks like you guys killed it, though! Also, just a thought, at 12:45 or so, you were holding the pole itself - that can cause the pole to not have all the flex it's designed to have and can cause it to break. =)
Yeah the weight to the face sounds terrible! I tried to avoid putting my hand on the rod but with only one good hand I had to find some leverage. Hopefully next trip both hands will be working lol
With so many fish why not just lure fish?
I guess they just don't do that up there. The fish aren't biting like normal, they're going to lay their eggs.
@@outofofficewithmatt No salmon is eating in river, but you can get aggression strikes easy.
@@krzysztofr8598 that would be fun to try too. They took a fly when we went for trout one day so probably similar to throwing a lure.
@@krzysztofr8598 until they don't.....they all reach a point where they ignore anything and everything
You mean snagging
Yeah or flossing
Would you be willing to share a cost to do this breakdown
I could make a video of the Alaska cost breakdown. The day trip itself is $650 their website says.
How do you get a spot?
You can either show up at 330 am and sweat line it. Or you can apply for a reservation and pray your name gets pulled. The application is on the dfg website in the license sales.
It was said they used wood for the bridges and inside of the tunnels because steel would been to hot for the crews to handle.
That's pretty interesting!
Hope that's not the Washington state Rock Creek, that's closed to fishing right now.
No this is the one above Tom's Place south of Mammoth
Nice video but you really need to work on that cast.
I gotta get on tighter water more often. this was difficult.
Great video and great view!!
Thanks a lot!
W6 sucks
Yes. Yes it does. Most of Walker needs love
Great video. The video didn't really show any places where a bike would struggle other than random "holes" and "train mode" spots. I am considering taking a heavy fat tire bike but I'm worried there are places I have to carry the bike over rocks. I'm ok walking it across a bridge or around a mountain. Thoughts on non-bikes areas?
There were people doing the trail on motorcycles so I think you should be more than fine!
Nice ! This loop looks fun and beginner friendly!
It was a favorite for sure!
It was a favorite for sure!
Where is this at?
Near the girl scout camp out there
TQ for sharing. Ride looks amazing! SUBSCRIBED!
It was awesome and thanks!
How long is the hike to long lake from south lake
It's about 5 miles if I remember right. I think I gave us 2 hours but we stopped and enjoyed the hike.
Hell ya
🤘🏼🤘🏼
💕Wow💜💜💜💜💗💗💗💗💗
That brings back a lot of memories, born in Lone Pine and grew up in Bishop. Those are some nice fish (sorry but not monsters though) remember if you plan on keeping and eating, bleed the fish quickly for best flavor. I don't know what Abby's set up was, but get rid of those beach ball bobbers and get her some pencil floats and small (1/64, 1/80 or 1/100 ounce olive or black maribou micro jigs). Rig with 4 lb main line on reel and 2, 3, or 4 lb fluorocarbon leader about 4 to 6 feet long with small black swivel in between. If you fish Intake 2, Plant 2 or 3 after bays, or any of the lakes up there, loose the pencil float and replace with a clear plastic bobber that you can fill partially with water for weight. Set depth depending on water depth, keep the jig about a foot off the bottom, have her cast out, let sit until water is calm from float splashing, then reel slow trying not to make wake with the float but fast enough to keep the line somewhat tight. If there is a breeze with chop on the water, all the better and hang on. I would ride my bike 2-3 miles from the house fishing lower Bishop or Williams creek and catch a dozen or so that size a night and keep 3 to 5 for eating nothing under 18-20 inches. Good Luck.
Thanks for these tips! I've wanted to fish plant 2 but never knew how. She just prefers the red and white ones lol idk why but I think it's just her preference. She does better when she uses the pencil ones. I'll try these next trip thanks!!
I'll be your 101st 😘
Haha thanks 😂
I got you back to 100 subscribers! Ride was tons of fun.
Thanks bro! I followed back for support!
Badass day! Great video
Glad you went!

Such a beautiful and unique trail my friend!
It was really nice to see the river flowing
Love how the dog just tracks the birds flying over with you guys at 4:21.
He's a great dog. My buddy trained him well. It's cool he doesn't get scared
Well done!! I’m the guy in blue at 5:04. Last year I did BWR (Wafer route, 80mi) and Bovine Classic (Feisty route, 70mi). Pebble was harder than both.
I was debating doing the wafer this year too see it! Glad to hear this was worse lol
First
Thanks haha
Can you please let me know what the width of the top tube measures? Thanks
I'll look, but the Brooks bag is 1.5 inches and fits perfectly on it with no overhang over the sides.
I'd like a different color option and I would buy it. The colors just didn't do it.😢😢😢
The purple is definitely unique, but that has been my problem with their bikes in the past. I just like purple so it worked out.
What kind of quail are they?
Just gamble quail I was after
Quall don't have or make nests! They roost off the ground in safe places and different locations. Judging by all that 4x4 and side by side track, the quail are long gone. Get a professionally trained short hair and get away from people!
That's my plan I need a dog honestly. It's hard walking. I thought they burrow like dove will?
Love ❤️ this song 🎵
Me too!
Bro what action camera are you using that is awesome quality…
This is the hero 8 actually
Hello, just wondering if you could possibly give me some info. on the exit tou take to get in that area. Im not looking for your secret spot, i would just like to find out where to land myself as i will be alone on the hunt for 2nd. season. Any info. would be greatly appreciated.
I would go to El Centro over the state land. Westmorland is good, nuevo river is good.
The entire valley is full of fields and areas to hunt. Be social, ask farmers if you can hunt on their land, scout blm, you have so many options.
Sorry kids 😂
hahaha
What size bolt
I want to say 19mm but I think I'm wrong.
Nice video. Where do you park?
We parked right at the entrance of the dog park honestly. It was to the left
Are the rims still holding up?
Yeah they are, still like them a lot
