For early generation keypads. Check the back of the keypad to find the model #. The instructions for the early models are different than later keypads. Here's the link to the instructions. embed.widencdn.net/pdf/plus/cgi/icvexkqooh/114a3271.pdf?u=btczgn

Bypassing the key switch to start mower. Possible bad key switch or other safety switch. You'll need to have the seat safety switch bypassed or bungee the seat down.

John Deere 265. John Deere part # M71135. $25 on eBay. Credit to George Kirk's post in SSBtractor.com. Take off the deck and jack up the front on to jack stands. There's a single idler pulley near the motor pulley to remove. The two adjustable pulleys in the middle have a guide bracket that needs to be removed. Unhook the spring, then loosen the nut and it should slip off. You don't need to rem...

    Still a lot easier to just drop the clutch. Gives you a lot more slack in the belt to get it done. Dropping the clutch is just the one bolt. Easy peasy!

    Jason T for the win!!! I had the same thing happen, I was curious that all the other ones I saw were flashing orange/red behind the numbers but these older models are YELLOW backlights. Good way to tell without having to unscrew it. Your instructions worked perfectly. Thanks so much.

    I tried this method and it almost worked. My problem is that the belt got stuck between the fan and the pulley. I had to take of the riders platform, gas tank, and fan to get the belt over the back pulley (not a big deal…just an extra 9 bolts). If your belt is still on, I would recommend taking a video of how it is all routed because it’s not exactly self explanatory for a newbie.)

    • @PostalAutoShine
      @PostalAutoShine 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Edit….there may have been something I could have done to get the extra inch of slack I needed, but for the life of me I couldn’t figure it out.

    ALERT! Despite my having a red/orange button on my Chamberlain Liftmaster Professional Formula I (which would indicate a "3" code for programming) and despite literally hours of trial and error, I finally found that the "10" code was what worked. I can't explain it, but it worked, FYI.

    Very helpful video - thank you. The process is nearly identical for my John Deere 240 (just no fan in the rear). Two details that may be helpful for others: 1) with tractor in neutral and with ebrake on there's no need to loosen the spring tensioner, at least on the 240. 2) Nuts only need to be loosened, not removed!
