    Whenever my balls stop hooking much, I do a hot water a dawn dish soap bath. Let them sit in it awhile. As the ball warms up, the oils soaked in will move to the surface. After the ball has soaked a bit, I wash it in that soapy water then remove and rinse with hot water. Dry with towel then ill hit the ball with whatever sanding disk im going to use. The ball hooks almost as good as new again. The key is getting that soaked in oil out of the ball.

    • @BowlingLife_eu
      @BowlingLife_eu 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Have you tried using a sanding disc before soaking your bowling ball in hot water? It can help open up the pores more effectively. As for dish soap, since each brand varies, we recommend using a clear, fragrance-free option. These typically contain fewer additives that could affect your ball's surface. While using dish soap like 'Dawn' once may not cause harm, the potential long-term effects are uncertain.

    Thanks for the video but, i have some questions. First question: What is the detergent that you used in this video? Second question: How big of a bucket do you suggest one should use when cleaning the bowling ball? Third question: Before the soak and clean, do you suggest dropping the surface down to 360 or 500 to open up the pores? I've read on some sites that Storm suggests sanding down the ball with a 360 or 500 pad to open up the pores before dropping the ball down into a soak. I've soaked my bowling balls in the past and used different detergents but, i found some rubber corks on Amazon to cover up the finger and thumb holes to keep the water out. Also, have you ever tried GENESIS Evolution Refresh and if so, what did you think?

    • @BowlingLife_eu
      @BowlingLife_eu หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great questions-thanks for asking, it sure will be useful for the whole community! For the first part, in the video, we used isopropyl alcohol, but you can also mix in a few drops of mild, unscented dish soap. For the second part, the bucket should be large enough to fit the bowling ball comfortably. Make sure the ball doesn’t touch the sides of the bucket so the entire surface can come into contact with the water mixture. As for using a rougher surface, that’s a great idea! We usually use 500 or 1000 grit (depending on the ball) just forgot to mention it in the video. It not only helps open up the pores more effectively, but is also a good way force yourself to resurface bowling ball after a deep clean ;) Unfortunately, we haven’t tried GENESIS Evolution Refresh yet, so we can’t comment on it-but it’s definitely on our radar. We plan to make more videos about bowling ball surfaces, cleaners, and similar topics in the future, so stay tuned! Hopefully, we’ll cover it soon and give you the best answer we can.

      Great question! Usually, 2-3 soaks are enough to get most of the oil out, but it depends on how saturated the ball is. If you’re still seeing oil come out after the third soak, you can do one more. Just be careful not to overdo it-your ball will thank you! 😄

      My procedure is slightly different. If you have access to one, then soak the ball in a larger container like a washtub. In a larger container the ball can soak a good 90 minutes and will still be very warm when you drain it. When about a quarter of the ball is visible I start a hot water rinse.

      @@elr2141979 True, reactive balls do have pores, but the warm water helps open them up so the oil can exit more easily. Water doesn’t stay in the pores because of its chemical properties-it’s kind of like washing your face with warm water! I really dont see the point from Brunswick on this 78 hardness rule to be a thing. What do they have to gain or lose on this?? If they have a problem with it then they should not be in the EBT calender. When it comes to EBT tournaments there is a very simple problem its expensive for most people. Travel across europe with hotel and start fees no chance. We all know that if you get a check its most likely not covering the expenses.

    • @BowlingLife_eu
      @BowlingLife_eu 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In simple terms, the 78-hardness rule in Europe bans Purple Hammers. This would hurt Brunswick's market share, so it's understandable why they oppose the rule in their sponsored events. Completely agree that travel expenses for the EBT are enormous, and the prize money often doesn’t even cover those costs, even for the winner.

    100% correct for EBT to do this. But ETBF need to implement it in Championships like you say otherwise it contradicts themselves. Ballmaster and Hammer challenge would 100% stay as an EBT if Brunswick hadn't implement conditions in the contract with the tournament around sponsorship. This is without a shadow of a doubt, the other reasons they made I understand and agree with that the EBF offers nothing now, it is is rubbish but they are using this as an excuse. It is an all just to do with Business. The tour needs this though, I believe you will see an increased amount of players this year on the EBT tour for tournaments that implement this. Especially female participation. But it is optional so depends what tournaments will do it. All of Sweden has now backed it and I think that tells a lot as one of the biggest bowling nations in the world.

    • @BowlingLife_eu

      Most tournaments that have adopted the 78-hardness rule have experienced a rise in squad entries, which often translates into larger prize funds. Branding a tournament as "No Urethane" seems to be a winning strategy for events in Europe at the moment 😂

It also ruined the line for the guy who threw it, the last time I crossed lanes with a guy who had one. 1 hand, 2 hands, it's all bowling. Just because a person is using 2 hands doesn't automatically say they have more revs. Their speed is limited by that shuffle step. ❤ 🎳 Folks who don't like 2 handed bowling haven't tried it and don't understand how fun it is.

    Much as the wide variety and color of bowing balls is fascinating, it also adds an element of complexity that’s unnecessary. The basic concept of a regulation ball, exists across many sports-even on the professional level. Baseball, soccer, football, hockey (still uses a regulation puck), basketball-they all use regulation balls. And even though those balls are manufactured by different companies, all those companies make those balls to specific specifications and under licenses granted by the governing bodies of those sports. Why do we think bowing would become boring, just because bowlers would all have to use the same ball? Has viewership of any of the sports I mentioned, suffered due to a lack of variety in which balls can be used? If anything, the focus has been drastically shifted from lane play strategies and bowler-controlled release techniques, to using core layouts and coverstock surface adjustments to manipulate ball motion. While high-level amateurs and pro bowlers certainly possess amazing skills, there is no doubt that the balls help a great deal. If you want to see what can be done, in competition, with all bowlers using one ball, check out Gary Beck’s Teen Masters tournaments: www.teenmasters2025.com/

    1. Since early days of Bowling all bowlers used a plain rubber ball with a non-dynamic label layout. Bowling was about the bowler, not the ball. 2. One of the greatest arts and challenges of bowling is the thumb release. This is one of the main factors that makes bowling hard. By going two-handed or one handed thumbless, this art of the thumb release is eliminated thus reducing the difficulty of bowling. 3. Urethane bowling balls do not get softer. They only measure softer due to oil absorption into their cover which lubricates them causing the durometer needle to more easily penetrate them and show a lower hardness reading. If the same ball that measures softer is resurfaced and deoiled with 100% isopropyl it will measure back to the hardness it had before it was thrown down the lane.

      @@BowlingLife_eu I would like to see Bowling return to its roots with a focus on traditional equipment and techniques. The Bowlers from the "Golden Age of Bowling" mid to late 1960's , used non-dynamic balls on fairly slick and non-reactive lanes which required them to maintain an extremely high level of consistency, accuracy and precision. Creating "area" or "margin of error" was not possible. Bowlers had little to no control over the bowling condition. They could not use oil absorbing balls to break the lane down and make the condition easier and scoring higher. I would like to see a return to this type skill bowling.

      Oh boy did this comment age badly. You should maybe check out Joakim Biehl's video ;-) TL;DR Even the "new 78D" balls gets softer. And no, your supposed argument of durometer going haywire because of oil penetrates the outer shell is completely mute and debunked a long time ago. While its true, measurements have been taken after clean and sanding to prove beyond a doubt! The fact is urethanes are getting softer, and hammer is doing a damn good job (better than the competition) with secret sauce to make them so which is whispered and rumoured about behind closed doors ;). Black hammer 72D is the go-to ball 2024 🤣 Fact is this rule is completely trash. If you want a urethane free competition or event, just do what swedes are already doing this year and banning them in certain individual competitions. Not that it will lower the scores because fact is we're still seeing top players cranking 240+ avg over 7-8 series on moderate/semi easy sports patterns. But at least the urethane haters will be happy, maybe... there's always something else to complain about 😂. Slowinski was trying some really interesting specialized anti-urethane and "anti - hold" patterns over in the phillipines... with his comment being it was a great success in its intentions but also really killed angular looks... They're really wacky and basicly force a player to play straight and/or inside and these 45 at dot to 8 at bp lines are killed completely (bye belmo) In the end to actually make this 78D hardness rule apply, you would have to test each ball, for each competition upon entry before competition starts. A player must therefor have a new ball (especially hammer players) for each event as they do get softer, even storms and their sub-owned brands. Its just whack and funny at the same time. This reminds me so much of Formula 1. As a 2hand player myself, i do really respect and applaud a clean 1 hand release/player. Those who do it really well is so smooth like butter. 2 hand players that have the same smooth motion is far and fewer though.

    • @nordattack
      @nordattack 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TehWin3 Can you please give me a link to the "evidence beyond dispute" that modern urethane balls do get softer from "use" not from chemicals or oil lubricating the durometer? BTW: I have three Hot Cell urethane bowling balls that I have had for years. When I first got them they measured 81 with my durometer. All these years later they still measure 81. Also all my vintage urethane balls, Rhinos and Angles still measure 78 or above and this is after almost 40 years of use.

    PH is one of the greatest balls every created. But is also one of the worst balls ever created just by the fact it forced almost everyone to use it or just take an L. On rule changes, in general they are good thing to have in sports mainly to make things change so the sport can be a sport. Its almost always used as a way to keep the integrity at its purest form as much as possible and about leveling the playing field across multiple factors, in this case sponsors and manufactures.
