While sometimes it makes little difference (depending on the materials and the engineered interference fit), I always put in the freezer the part being inserted (my wife hates it!) overnight, and the part holding the inserted part out in the sun for a couple of hours, on a hot plate, or casebycase hit it with a torch. Often there is almost no force required to insert or substantially reduced force as interference fits can be 0.0002 inch which the combined contraction and expansion eliminates until temperatures normalize. It has been standard practice to replace ring gears on flywheels since before the Model A Ford.
Those rear tires are nice! What brand and size?
Thank you. And for the book recommendation. I ordered it from Amazon in the States.
@@benkanobe7500 No worries. Enjoy 👍
John, any video on how to replace the tie rod end under the steering. So tight in there to get pressure on the undo. Advise would b appreciated.
Hello Neil, I have not had cause to do such a repair mate. I can imagine it is tight in there, as you say. If you are on Facebook, there is a very good Group for Greenfield Users that will answer your question promptly.
@@johnp1388 Thanks John is is a tight fit. Will get onto the site. Thanks for video's very informative. I would like to get someone to do a video on how to straighten the steering wheel once the job is together. Mine is now a half turn to the left and would like to know how to get it horizontal again.
@@Neil-e2y The FB Group is called "Greenfield Mowers of Australia". Everyone is very helpful, don't be afraid to throw the question out there. A picture too helps a lot, for all the replies.

Are you actually going to show us on the tractor, or just talk us to death?
my poor green field has lived the life of a flogged donkey. It tried to run away from home. I thrashed it into submission and still it labours on. Its been 15 years and I now have to accept it will probly out live me, marry a new owner, and have a little peace and happiness. Yes . . . It is a mower you have a lifetime relationship with folks.
Well said! lol
@@johnp1388 cheers.
Really useful set of videos. I never knew there was a gauze above the hand pump. Pulled it out of ours and it was completely blocked and was the cause of all the running problems in the last few years. I'd swapped out all the others already. Ours is a1962 and has been on the farm from new. We just use it for topping now. Thanks a lot!
No worries 👍👍, glad the video was of help to you. I didn't know there was a gauze either! Until I pulled it apart. Enjoy your Fergie adventures.
Greetings from Pakistan. You made it hell of a lit easier for me. Kudos 👏
No problem. Thanks

We bought our 35x in 2000 and paid £1500 for it. At the time the local farmers said I had been ripped off but I wish I had bought several more back then. It has given great service and is still very original (lots of "Made in England" bits including the starter, dynamo reg. box, lift pump CAV pump etc.)
Yes mate, good tractors indeed 👍👍
lol. Seeing people try to use wrenches to take it out make me try that for half an hour. Completely useless. I just put a piece of wire through the hole at the end of the PTO shaft and gave it a yank and it was out in seconds. You can put a screwdriver through the hole to use to pull. A slide hammer would work fine. The pto shaft can be on it and used to lever it out too.
Hi John, don't suppose you have replaced the rear axle seals on your Dong Feng have you?
Hello. No I haven't. Only repairs / servicing you see on channel, is what has happened.
Do you have a Dongfeng too Lola?
Can you do anything about the dogs barking
Thank you for the step buy step explanation, very helpful! Would be helpful if I get the Massy Ferguson 35 Manual by Chris Jaworski, I have a MF 135 do

Hello there in Brazil. Hope the video was of help to you <Espero que o vídeo tenha sido útil para você>
Great Video, Thank you, John.
did those tools come with it ,and is there a toolbox on the tractor?
Hi mate, hows this tractor holding on , been a long time you say nothing about it my friend , was wondering if everything was hope with it
Hello, thanks for your message. The tractor is doing fine. I only do videos when something out of the ordinary happens. So - "No News is Good News".
@johnp1388 that's great , I've found recently, I like your videos keep doing them my friend
Im quite surprised never heard about this oil in fuel pump before 😂
Yes, I was too!
@johnp1388 wanted to ask after u did this the smoke completely stopped was it, that part i could not really understand it
I can never understand why they persist in fitting skinny front tyres/wheels on machines with front loaders. First bit of soft ground you try to take a bucket full across, the wheels just sink. Not enough surface area for loader work.
I'm doing my 1959 M-F 50 gasser the same way; It's a working tractor, & will always be a working tractor. I'll be using rattle cans on mine, & putting on decals also. I've had Stella going on 27 years now; & she deserves a respray for being my 1st tractor, & a damn good reliable one at that 💪💪💪. I like everything your doing to your M-F 35; She's looking graceful still. Thank You for the video, & I like your way of thinking🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🤔.
Thanks for your comment. Yes, the Fergies are just old school, built to last machinery. I'm still poking along with the engine tear down, it will all be uploaded to the channel once complete. Thanks again 👍👍
Can you at least use the tools the correct way please Sir. You had the wrench and the adjustable wrench on the bolt head backwards. Not good for teaching purposes😊😊
Thanks for sharing that knowledge John, I just acquired a similar machine as part of a property purchase nth of Gympie. It uses a red nob to engage the cutter rather than that more robust looking lever yours has and the engine is only 17.5 hp. I guess they have evolved and tweaked the design a bit over the years. We also got a 2007 Dongfeng df354 which I think is the older and bigger brother to the one you have? I'm not a country person so I have a bit of a learning curve ahead of me. 😁
Thanks Daniel. Glad the video was of use to you. If you keep the Greenfield regularly serviced, it should last a long time. Same goes for the Dongfeng. BRISMAC I recommend to you, should you need parts, advice ( located in Brisbane ).
BRISMAC for the Dongfeng
John P mine has 620 hours going strong 17*5 Briggs cheers Mick.
Thanks Mick, they'll last a long time if you look after them. 620 is bloody good mate.
John I have a 2007 Lenar LE304 I bought from my dad, 3 cylinder diesel with only 40 hours. It appears to be almost the same tractor (made by dongfeng) and I have no manual on this tractor. Being that yours appears to be the same from what I can see is there anyway I could get a copy of your manual? Or if you have a service center you go through for support or for parts I could contact? I cannot find much of any information on the my tractor, your videos have been a lot of help I’m about to do the hydraulic oil change/filter cleaning. I’d like to know at what Intervals to change oil etc. Any info or help you could pass my way would be awesome! Keep the videos coming!

Hello John. I saw your answer to my question about the grease nipples. Thank you for your reply. I did end up finding them in the end. For some reason I am not able to find your comment again, so I am saying thank you in a new comment section. Your videos are so helpful 🙂
No probs
Thank you John. I have the exact model you have and have decided to service it myself as well. Your videos have been so helpful. Unfortunately I didn't get the manual with it as it's second hand. I have bought myself a greese gun and have found 1 grease nipple between the 2 front tyres. Are there any others?
Hello and thank you. According to the Manual, there are THREE grease nipples. One near each wheel (kingpin housing in the front axle beam) and the other fitted to the steering idler which is located in the centre of the machine close behind the front axle beam and accessible from under the chassis (is this the one you are referring to?). Anyway, I'm glad you reminded me about this! I did do up a short video on Greasing and Lubrication but haven't got around to uploading it. Will see what I can do. Regarding a Manual, last time I looked, you could download it from the Greenfield website (they have a big back catalogue of them, spanning many years of models). Good luck and glad the videos are of help to you.
Did you have an inner "cup" with some holes on the bottom housing? Are you supposed to fill that inner part with oil too?
Hello, yes my tractor has an inner cup, sometimes referred to as a centre ring, alongside the outer ring. Here's something I have copied for you from a Forum, which explains it well - the easiest way to avoid any confusion is to fill the centre ring as you describe it up to the holes…..the oil then will run out of the holes and start to fill up the outer ring. When the outer ring and inner ring are both at the same level you have cracked it….if there isn#t any visible level mark inside your air filter bowl you can then make your own mark where the oil level settles
Great video mate, I agree they are a very well designed tough ride on. Greenfield in my opinion is number one when it comes to what they make and it’s durability.
Thanks mate. I agree, that's why I have one, it is robust.
Great video John - it's nice to see people using TH-cam as a resource (asking questions) rather than just "telling" people how to do stuff. I hope there are some people watching who can offer you some advice on this - is there a MF35 facebook group that might be able to help? just a thought - all the best from Wales - Jon
Thank you
