respectfully, disagree. the moment they add a battle pass, I'll uninstall the game. I hate it. I hate when video games became essentially a second job for me to fill my deadline, especially after I pay for it with real money. I hate DbD's monetization, and last thing I want would be DbD's monetization in Payday 3.

Something about how underwhelming Concord's ending is really makes me believe it's not the end. I'm probably expecting too much, but I get the impression that Shade and the gang are being arrogant in assuming Concord is out of the game; While he has been given a serious blow, the fact that he never actually appeared in person, never interacted with the gang and we never even saw any Treaty operatives just makes me feel that he's still kicking around, and the Concord storyline is going to continue into whatever happens in Year Two. The arrogance of the gang could also tie into why they're not going back into retirement after "stopping" him, almost like they're addicted to heisting, which is going to lead into either their downfall or at least serious issues down the line. That's definitely asking too much, though, given how schlocky the story has generally been to this point. Also, what's the assault bar mod? It looks really damn good.

Ok, here's my theory. Maybe the last cutscene is so "Oh yeah, Gang. We did it! We defeated the big guy!" because Starbreeze was unsure if they would manage to keep support for this gang for a second year. LIke a safety net incase the story had to end there, so at least would be a somewhat happy ending for the crew. So, if they managed to continue working on the game for more Years to come, they will continue expanding more on Concor what he is REALLY capable of and giving a more satisfying conclusion to this story arc, one where we go against him in game... hopefully. I'm with you, there's more to him and we at the very least need a direct confrontation between him and the gang. At the very least a conversation between him and the gang. Revealing that the hit on Wall Street wasn't that much damage as the gang though and he has bigger plans. Maybe too much big stuff that they will be FORCED to get in touch with an old member of the gang who still is enjoying retirement. Bain, AKA the freaking President. I'm serious, if we get a future job were the contractor is the PRESIDENT, I would lose my shit, but that's me dreaming now. In general, I also believe there's more of Concord to come and he will now return find new ways to fight back against the Payday Gang.

One thing that would've sold Concord as a serious threat would've been to actually SHOW his mercenary group being a threat. Treaty is hyped up by Shade, but they can't touch Murkywater torturing Bain and watching it with popcorn. Fear & Greed would've been the perfect time for Concord to secure funding and clearance from New York's government to bring his "security detail" into the city to assist in the capture/death of the Payday Gang. Imagine Shade being scared shitless during an assault wave because the Treaty PMCs are replacing Heavy SWAT units; that kind of addition would make Concord a threat in Year 1.

Now I'm not telling you to try and get rid of your accent, god no. What I'm asking for instead is that you consider adding subtitles to your videos. Auto-generated TH-cam subtitles are known to be quite trash and anything you could add with an extra bit of effort would be infinitely more useful. It would definitely add to the viewing experience :) in the words of the great Tom Scott- "[Get] some damn subtitles!"

The Bad Apple campaign had more potential than this. I hate that the cinematics are computer screens only. I hate it that there are no miscellenious cinematics, not between Shade and Locke talking about their past with Bain maybe, not between Dallas and Houston having a heart-to-heart after he was saved because they are brothers, not how noone mentions that there is a "Payday veteran" going about brutally killing thugs and stealing their valueables. The ending is so underwhelming, Concord was the Big Bad Wolf, the enemy of the PAYDAY gang, and they supposedly got rid of him because of some digital money and allies he lost, they assume he will be snuffed out like Sharke and Ralph were by his former allies, now that he has lost his power. And back again to the cinematics. The are just computer screens with a few images they show, even some IRL stuff. The cinematics that the base game had? They were very basic, simple still shots that were made of the in-engine character models and then did some manual handwork to apply effects and look a little better. I doubt they were that hard to make, but still have more character than these computer screens. But apparently they had no resources for this. I hope the Dragan Files will be updated soon.

Him denying it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen, it would mean there’s still crimes connected to him from the bar. Also there’s the very big plot hole of why he’s in NYC if his bar is Mexico. Also I don’t see how it being used by political officials makes it him living clean, still doesn’t change what he is doing. I’m just trying to say we shouldn’t take EVERYTHING in the credits at face value since it was very intentional by the writers to give them just rumored past. I always kind of thought the secret era of Payday 2 was more so exciting than it was that great, especially in regards to storytelling. Like yeah, the ARG stuff was fun to solve with friends, but the story itself wasn't really that good and I feel it led to a lot of heists that were more focused on progressing the storyline than being fun (see, Breaking Feds, Hell's Island, et cetera) I'm personally quite glad that Starbreeze backtracked on the supernatural elements and semi-retconned them out of existence. Even with that said though, the series' story has never been a strong point. Storywise, I actually think the Hector arc was the peak, and it never really got as good as that again, despite clear efforts being made in the legacy era of Payday 2 and 3. Great video, by the by!

I'm not sure I agree with your take about backstories but I definitely agree that what we have in the game is very lacking. All the dev blogs leading to release tried to sell us on the idea that this crew is old and tired because they were forced out of retirement but with them having maybe like 15 lines said in the heist we don't get that impression at all. I think a good way to remedy this in small ways is having unique lines kinda like how Clover has now in 3 for calling other heisters. Give the crew unique lines for reviving one another, have them talk to Shade and make the objectives on the fly, one thing I would love is when you have an objective to make a call, instead of Shade doing the talking they should have the heister who made the call talk. Trying to imagine Wolf luring the accountant for the cryptowallet is already comedy gold and its a shame Starbreeze never really tried with the character writing past the first game.

Having been apart of the payday franchise since early Payday2 I'm going to say there's quite a few oversights in this video. Complaints about Hardcore Henry introducing super-natural themes is fair, but you forget that you hear actual zombies in the morgue of No Mercy in PDTH if you believe its canon, You also have the original Nightmare heist which being a dream still introduced super-natural themes, Along with the silly old easter egg where the L4D Witch would spawn at the Rats day1 fence. Most important super-natural theme thought is Point Break DLC where we literally stole artifacts like; Box that might destroy the world, Statue that is cursed, Server with god knows what in it and an ancient painting of Moses with a wand with Die Glocke in the background. (This was all Bo Anderson + original writers era fyi) Obligatory mention of The Diamond with its ever living protector (The 🅱entist) The franchises story from the get-go was lightly baked in super-natural with the guide of Bain from PD2s launch implying there was going to be an even greater heist than before with some Whitehouse wallpaper artworks, an overvault 2 door scene render and the Framing Frame day3 penthouse view over the city mentioning "1500 pen" heist. The fault of Payday2s story in the long run was more-so the writers coming and going with only scraps of information to work with and not fully understanding the true story that was told so far, biggest example was the final "Storyline" you got in career mode which was unbelievably out of order to the real plot and made so many mistakes with plot specific items (eg. The Diamond was *not* used for a plasma cutter like it says in career mode) On character developments, You mentioned characters not having well written stories; that is bold face wrong. (But I do agree a lot of people pick characters for their voices and style) Crime net information goes in detail on each characters personality, at launch that was what made me pick my preferred heisters because of their backstories. Post launch every single heister had a unique backstory associated with them which were all written mostly well, one of my favs being Sangres and his ties to Cartels and Gage which sadly never got any heists out of it. Along with this web-series, hype-sites and more revealed more to each heisters character, these characters were written well because its not shoved in your face. On the topic of showing emotion Prison Nightmare doors to the afterlife (the things that spawn loot) you hear emotional lines associated with every heister that was in the game at the time, which all raised many questions about their character. Squeezing this in here real quick; Jiro and Kento story ending was an embarrassment, I'm sorry to whoever wrote the original story for him only to have someone else later on use him as a bad plot point that literally went nowhere and died... And then muted Jiro in the safehouse forever! I miss his little song he would sing sometimes! >:( ---- To make it brief and clear; - Supernatural topics were in since late PDTH - Characters had really good development in PD2 - Payday players cant read (especially not 10+ years of lore) so a lot of this goes over their heads very easily - The ultimate fault of the story is down to later developers and writers not being experienced with the Payday franchise and it shows in late PD2 & PD3 - I put too much effort writing this response

I feel like the zombies in No Mercy are more of an easter egg, similar to other things you mentioned. Also, I'm pretty sure all Halloween events are not canon. Additionally, Point Break was after Hardcore Henry so, xd. other than that, yea I agree, though the characters are still lacking overall, compared to for example DBD.
