I love this piece. It is one of my favourites to play.

I will always be surprised by the way the guitar i able to "conceptualize" and "visualize" the music. There is something magical about this instrument. If you want to "see" the music, listen good guitar music.

I'm not a musician, but watching Christopher Nupen's wondrous 'The Song of the Guitar' made me an admirer of Segovia -- not only for his playing, but because I felt the sincere soul of the man coming through the music: the film was shot in the Alhambra Palace -- I wonder if anyone would be able to upload it sometime? 🙏

George, that's what I like about Bream too. I also reference him when I'm confused on tempo and rhythm. He is usually true to the timing, and all the expression is in the colour and tone. Sometimes it grates, but the contrast is part of expression.

if villa-lobos composed this he must be a great guitar player. villa lobos was more talented than segovia, segovia's work was concentrated in adapting music and being an interpreter. his compositions are not important. maybe he reworked some pieces but he couldn't touch the soul of those pieces. how the hell could segovia say that villalobos isn't a great guitar player'?? he is fuckin famous because of his compositions! anyway, amazing performance! he was the center of the classical guitar, yes. he knew ALL the pieces for the guitar.!! the one who archived them.

Segovia would not have been the first guitarist to "rework parts"...what is the problem...and this is the best version of this,,,Segovia nails this 'romantic music' as he always does. he may well come under scrutiny today but......even Williams says he had the best 'GUITAR' sound...I play a Smallman at times....and it is not much good for SPANISH ROMANTIC MUSIC...listen to Segovia for this style.
