There needs to be a lot more academic research into Cambodian history. A lot is unknown, misguided or completely lost. What is being taught in Cambodia today is ethno-nationalistic fabrications at worst. Cambodians seem to have the impression that Funan and the Khmer Empire is one continuous ethno-civilizational Empire. However evidence from other sources written by neighboring countries and other foreign visitors suggests otherwise. Obviously there will be biases that needs to be untangled since histories written by countries like Thailand, Vietnam, China and France regarding Cambodia will have political bias underpinning them. Khmer revere the semi mythical Naga Queen Soma as the founder of Funan and mother of the Khmer civilization, that's all well and good. Problem with that comes when talking about the Khmer Empire. The Chinese mentions Chenla as being migrants into Funan, of conquering Funan from the original Funanese and credits the Chenla as being the founders of what the French would later dub the Khmer Empire. So there's ambiguity on whether the Chenla are Khmer or are a different group that came in, subjugated and ruled over the Funanese. Histories written by Thai and Lao mentions the Khom (Thai name for Chenla) Mahidharapura (Varman) dynasty (the builders of Angkor) have family ties to Mon-Tai families through political marriages who ruled other city-states that existed in mainland SE Asia at the time, city-states that are now part of Thailand and Laos. The Thais see the Khom/Chenla as seperate from the Khmer and see Thais as the true inheritors of the Khom/Chenla Angkorian civilization. This view is obviously with a heavy Thai bias. What is interesting is that in Cambodia's own legends, the Mahidharapura dynasty had rituals that involved appeasing the Naga Queen. This seems natural as a form of ancestral worship, until we examine what the ritual actually involved. The ritual consists of the King ascending a tower to sleep with the mythical Naga Queen to appease her... Which seems odd if the Naga Queen was supposed to be the King's own ancestor. It lends more credence to the theory that the Mahidharapura were Khom/Chenla invaders who created the ritual to appease the ancestral spirit/goddess of the Khmer, the people they conquered. There's also the legend about ending of the Mahidharapura and the founding of a new Khmer dynasty. The legend goes that Jayavarman IX being killed by Trasak Paem. The Cambodian chronicles says the killing was an accident. Thais view it as a slave rebellion. Whatever the truth, what is agreed upon is that Trasak Paem was a servant gardener in the king's employ, took the throne after Jayavarman IX's death and married his daughter. Thais see this as the ending of the Khom/Chenla rule and the beginning of Khmer rule in Cambodia. Thais history claims that many the Khom nobility fled to the Mon-Tai city-states mixed with the Mon and Tai and became Thais when Trasak Paem and the Khmer took over Angkor in the rebellion of the lower caste. The Thai Kingdom of Ayutthaya being founder by one of these escaped Khom nobles. If I was Cambodian I would be proud of the history of the Khmer overthrowing the Khom/Chenla and liberating themselves, but a lot of this nuance was lost when the French colonized Cambodia and wrote their own theorized history and named everything Khmer and now Cambodians misguidedly believing Funan and the Khmer Empire to be one continuous Khmer civilization. My view is you can't be both.

Thank you for sharing such an insightful and detailed comment. Cambodian history is indeed complex and multifaceted, and there is much to explore and understand beyond the traditional narratives. It's true that the historiography of Cambodia, like many other countries, is influenced by various perspectives and biases, whether from internal narratives or external sources. The ethno-nationalistic views, political biases from neighboring countries, and the impact of French colonial historiography all play significant roles in shaping the understanding of Cambodian history. Regarding the continuity between Funan and the Khmer Empire, it's essential to recognize that history often involves layers of migration, conquest, and cultural assimilation. The relationship between Funan, Chenla, and the Khmer Empire is a subject of ongoing academic debate, with different interpretations based on available evidence. The legends and rituals, such as those involving the Naga Queen, offer valuable insights into the cultural and spiritual beliefs of the time. These rituals, while intriguing, can be challenging to interpret definitively, especially when considering the potential for myth and symbolism. The historical dynamics between the Khom/Chenla and the Khmer, including the story of Trasak Paem and the end of the Mahidharapura dynasty, highlight the complexity of power transitions and the blending of cultures in the region. It's important to continue encouraging academic research and critical examination of historical sources to gain a more nuanced understanding of Cambodia's past. By doing so, we can appreciate the rich and diverse heritage of Cambodia while acknowledging the different influences that have shaped its history. Again, thank you for your thoughtful comment. Discussions like this help to deepen our understanding and appreciation of history.

Mon-Khmer civilizations in Thailand - Britannica Dictionary Also known as: Kingdom of Thailand, Ratcha Anachak Thai, Siem As the Tai moved into mainland Southeast Asia, they came in contact with peoples speaking Mon-Khmer languages who had long inhabited the region. Indian traders traveling to China during the early centuries of the 1st millennium CE had carried Hindu and Buddhist beliefs and practices to some of those peoples, including the Mon, who lived in what is now Myanmar. The Mon were the first people in mainland Southeast Asia to adopt Buddhism. Between the 6th and 9th centuries the Mon established several small Buddhist kingdoms within the area encompassed by present-day southern Myanmar and central Thailand. From what are now the towns of Nakhon Pathom and Lop Buri in central Thailand, they extended their power eastward across the Khorat Plateau, northward as far as Chiang Mai, and northeastward into what is now Laos. Those Mon kingdoms are collectively called Dvaravati. The Dvaravati period is noted for its artwork, particularly its Buddhist sculptures and votive images made of terra-cotta or stucco. As the Tai moved south into mainland Southeast Asia, they also encountered the Khmer of Cambodia. Between the 9th and the 13th century, Khmer rulers expanded their domains from their capital at Angkor, establishing an empire that, at its height under Jayavarman VII (reigned 1181-c. 1220), extended over approximately half of modern Thailand. Whereas Mon kingdoms were predominantly Buddhist in character, Khmer civilization-which found its supreme expression in the great temple complex at Angkor-was heavily influenced by Hindu ideas and practices. The Tai borrowed, adopted and cop pied from the Khmer many elements of Indianized culture, including royal ceremonies, customs followed at the court, and especially the Indian epic Ramayana, which influenced not only literature but also classical dance. Even in modern Thai culture the legacy of the Indianized culture of Khmer's Angkor is still evident. 1:46 Khmer temples in thailand nowadays: Phimai, Phnom Reung, ...

The migration of Zoroastrians to different parts of the world, including Bharat (India), is a testament to their resilience and dedication to their beliefs. The Parsi community in India has made significant contributions to the country's culture, economy, and social fabric while maintaining their peaceful and prosperous nature. Edict to Attack Champa by Emperor Le Thanh Tong: In the past, our founder Emperor Thai To quelled the chaos and established the nation. Emperor Thai Tong respected heaven, cared for the people, and followed his predecessor’s path, respecting larger countries and showing compassion for smaller ones. Internally, he reformed; externally, he quelled rebellions. Thus, even those wearing grass skirts and with topknots climbed mountains and crossed seas to pay tribute, with all regions admiring his virtue and eight directions acknowledging his power. The foolish Cham people, lurking in their rabbit holes like venomous bees, nurtured and then burned again, like wild animals that forget favors after being fed; they are lawless, hesitant, small-minded, and muddle-headed. Their filth is evident, they forget themselves and have no place to belong, their wicked hearts harbor malicious plans to shoot at the high sky. Our late Emperor immediately became enraged and devised far-reaching plans, but due to the eight-tones' silence for three years, the great work was not completed. When Emperor Le Nhan Tong ascended the throne, their numbers had grown considerably. They relied on Co Luy as a den and Cha Ban as a nest. Madly, they proclaimed themselves as ancestors and called our Emperor their descendant; their loss of virtue, arrogance, and accumulated evil couldn’t be hidden. The insults they uttered are too disgraceful to be recounted. They gathered in groups, daring to act like dogs biting stealthily; they took advantage of opportunities, secretly amassing troops like crows flocking together. They intended to seize Hoa Chau and kill our garrison troops. Their crimes were as vast as the sky, but within a month, peace was restored. Their plans failed, their schemes were clumsy. Death was near, their lives were wasted. Blind, they still opened their mouths to lie. With no plan left, they were embarrassed about their impending rebellion. They acted like cunning foxes, flattering Beijing to sow discord among others. They intended to expand their influence like silkworms spreading across Tương district, plotting strategically from the front, back, and sides. They wished for a bronze pillar to be erected in Hoành Sơn, allowing Han troops to advance to Bặc Đạo. They spread baseless rumors and mocking insults without restraint. They falsely accused us of mobilizing a vast army, ready to conquer the northern borderlands. They likened themselves to two suns rising together, proclaiming themselves as the Emperor of the Southern realm. They accused us of stealing tributes of gold and jade, and claimed we aimed to seize White Elephant. They looked down on our people more than grass and dirt, harboring deep and harmful ambitions; they thought conquering our land would be as easy as playing chess, dreaming of picking up the bones of Bong Nga. Their actions and words all aimed at destroying our ancestral temples and lineage. With such deep schemes, there was no crime they wouldn’t commit. They made the Ming court suspicious, sending inquiries for years, but these aggressive rebels only followed the same old patterns. Their offenses deserved heavy shackles, their anxiety was justified. Their precarious situation, like crows nesting high, dared to disdain imperial envoys, viewing things narrowly like a frog in a well, boldly mocking imperial edicts. Day by day, their transgressions grew, with one echoing another. They collectively caused turmoil, viewing tyranny as trivial. They were filthy like dogs and pigs, usurping the throne, expelling the descendants of Bodhi beyond the realm. They spread false Buddhist teachings and temple laws, fabricated prophecies of disaster and blessing to let Tra Toan’s lineage flourish. They banned butchering, causing hardship to the people, and prohibited brewing, disrupting the worship of gods. Boys and girls endured hardships serving them, widows and orphans suffered endless cruelty and mutilation. The Cham people faced heavy taxes and brutal punishments, while the Thi Nai people held high office and rank. Our men and women were enslaved, our convicts were all harbored by them. The refugees had no recourse but to endure their grievances, the entire country wanted to cry out to heaven but had no way. The one lodging, about to burn our house, schemed deceitfully, claiming cultural superiority; the evil doers, not allowed peace by heaven, continued their tyrannical ways in governance. A vile person ascended the throne, turning a great country into an enemy. They eyed us covetously, pretending loyalty while preparing for aggression. They aimed to shout like a fox in the Ly imperial court, satisfied only by swarming our divine land. When we relaxed, they gathered troops to plunder; when we raised our bows, they begged for mercy. Truly, they are the enemy of our ancestral temples and state, a lifelong calamity for our people. They thought a long whip couldn’t reach a horse’s belly, a dying wind couldn’t lift a feather. Their chaotic ambitions deserved death and punishment. Heroes who heard this news gritted their teeth in anger, the loyal and righteous were deeply distressed. They turned all principles upside down, with petty minds attempting grand schemes. Our regulations and laws remain; rebellion against them will not be forgiven. Without showing force, they wouldn’t desist; to eliminate cruelty, decisive action was needed. I, embodying the will of heaven and following my father’s ambition, will destroy the enemy to the ninth generation, in the spirit of the Spring and Autumn Annals, planning perfectly to bring peace to the country. I will save the people from suffering, restore order long disrupted. To quell rebellion and save the people, a sage must demonstrate power; to plant virtue and uproot evil, heaven and earth must align. Since the Yi and Di were ancient threats to the state, the sage kings used bows to show their power. When the nine Li tribes rebelled, the Yellow Emperor used troops; when the three Miao tribes were disrespectful, Yu the Great summoned his soldiers. Though using troops is the last resort of a sage, laws are made to educate the stubborn and ignorant. How can mist cover the sun, or allow outsiders to snore in one’s bed? I have selected numerous talented generals and recruited countless brave soldiers. Ten thousand tiger-like troops, thousands of miles of boats and ships. Soldiers a hundred times courageous, everyone with a single determination. Each one eager to advance, awaiting orders to strike. They vow to pile up mounds of enemy corpses, hoping for their deeds to be recorded in history. With justified cause, they will show no mercy. I command the military, issuing orders with divine authority to vanquish evil. Flags shading the fields like clouds, moving like wind; axes gleaming like sunlight, dazzling like stars. As easy as peeling a banana, as smooth as breaking a rotten branch. The enemy, seeing this, would be overwhelmed, their ears deafened by thunder, their hair singed by blazing fire. The task will be accomplished in a moment, and centuries of grievances will be washed away. We will rid the people of this poisonous scourge, ensuring no future generations face these foes. Disdain for the warlike Emperor Wu will cease, praise for King Wen’s expansion will arise. Oh! The rebels who slaughter goats without bloodshed; we should learn from the past, mobilizing in the sixth month, seeing the southern pigs wallowing, not waiting seven weeks for submission. Announce this throughout the land for all to hear.

Nigga, The Maratha Empire was not builded upon the aboriginals of the Indian subcontinent... Chattrapati Shivaji Bhonsle was a born in a "VEDIC" Kshtriya Varna.

The Maratha Empire is not African; it is a historical Indian empire. The Maratha Empire emerged in the Indian subcontinent in the late 17th century and lasted until the early 19th century. It was founded by Shivaji Maharaj and became a dominant force in India, particularly known for its role in resisting Mughal rule and later engaging with European colonial powers. The title of the video was a mistake. We apologize for any confusion caused. Thank you for your understanding and for watching our content.

🙏👍👌Very nice and good video. Thanks to its creator for bringing out the History of Maratha Empire. There are some prminent names missing in the video such as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and many others by which mentioning their names maratha history is not complete. 🙏🙏.

Based on new evidence from Si Thep, Golden Boy, DNA findings of SEA people and archaeological sites in Nakhon Rachasima (Korat), there was no such "Khmer Empire or Khmer Civilization" but only Khom Empire. During Suryavarman II, Khmers were recruited by Khom officers from Srivijaya Empire (Javanese/Indonesian Islands) and Champa Empire (South Vietnam), as evidenced by their similar DNA footprints, as construction laborers to collect stone and stage it up to build Angkor Wat. In short, Khmers could not invent or create anything to form a civilization but Khoms (Thais) are able to renovate or even build up a new stone coumpound/building.
