Many properties in more rural settings, like parts of Mountain View, Bethlehem, Newton, Conover, or even Vale, often have fewer HOAs. Some neighborhoods may have Covenants and Restrictions (CC&Rs) but not an active HOA, which means there are some basic rules or standards without a governing board. If avoiding an HOA altogether is your goal, focusing on rural areas or steering clear of established “neighborhoods” is your best bet. @@maurademarco988 Yes it was recorded before Friday. We have a video this week showing what we have experienced this week with Hurricane Helene. It’s definitely not a joke. NC is beautiful in the Fall, and yes we did have a hurricane this week that has been devastating to Western NC. Our thoughts and prayers are with so many in our area who have been affected by this hurricane.

Hi @kellylittle7780, thanks for your question! We completely understand the desire for more grocery options in the Hickory area. Lowe’s Foods is great for everyday shopping, and we do stop by Publix sometimes too. Anytime we’re near a Trader Joe’s, we stock up-so you’re not alone in wishing we had one here! Hickory residents have been vocal about wanting Trader Joe’s, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we see one pop up soon with all the growth happening. We also love supporting local. The farmers market offers fantastic local produce, and there are some great plant-based options in downtown Hickory, like Plant-Based Bossfor when we eat out. It’s true that nearby cities like Asheville and Charlotte have more variety, but Hickory is definitely on the rise, and we’re hopeful for more choices to come. Our clients share similar sentiments, but many are excited about Hickory’s expanding options. Hopefully, we’ll see even more as the community continues to grow! Gosh living here in NH is so much hiring in costs of living. We spend $7k in heating costs, $4-5k in electricity and $13k in property taxes alone.

@@LifeInNC We actually visited NC to look to relocate. We ended up falling in love with a place in TN and are now building a house there. We are all about reducing our expenses in order to retire more comfortably.
