What a disgraceful mess.... jeeeez, boys, you could have just bought the stuff online and saved all that data, let alone the natural environment, in peace. Look at it, what an embarrassment. My ladies people had places like this on their property. After her father passed her mom sold the mineral rights to the coal company...The mountain is now gone. I have always wondered how many artifacts where lost. Thanks for sharing your adventure. What an amazing place to search.

They're not nutting holes genius. It's where water dropped off the ledge for eons onto the rock and drilled holes in it. Wow.

I found a base in my garden exactly they same shape and manufacture as the one at 4:41. It is made of different material. Mine looks Daltonish to me, but I may be wrong. I also found a Dovetail point lengthwise, missing the tip. I keep finding notched pieces throughout the years. The material here throws me off, I guess they used what was available. It's good to see other pieces that people find. It kind of reassures me that there is a small site here on my property

What a place. People need to keep in mind that none of the trees you see would have been alive back when it was used, and there is probably 2' of new soil raising the grades. Any structures they may have built would have turned to dust long ago as well.

Time Stamp 22 :00 Ben's point , you where asking about it , the type of chirt , I don't know but i found a smaller piece the same shape and style i thnk . My point is made of an apparent Quartz and Jasper combo , and very small, an inch . Im over on the east coast in Massachusetts, so its probably not related but it's very similar in shape ! It's an awesome red with white quartz though it . Your work is awesome and your guys find such amazing stuff ! Thank You !

I turkey hunt on Daniel Boone national forest in Kentucky. There's rock shelters everywhere but are highly illegal to dig

I Ben reading about the digging laws in KY..says it's a felony to dig archeological sights with out a permit...i would just like to now if I'm able to dig or not ..I love doing what you guys r doing but I don't want to go to prison for a rock

If you could use tarps to carch water from the sides and direct it onto the trench youd have a self digging artifact hole 😂

The point you asked to ID is probably a Copena Auriculate. If the base and basil sides are heavily ground (real smooth) then it could be a Beaver Lake. It's hard to see the flaking in the pics. I enlarged the pics and I do believe it's a Copena. They are late archaic to early woodland in age. The word Copena is made up from the words copper and Galena. These two minerals were used by this culture that made this style of point. They made copper celts and gorgets and plummets from the Galena. It is very heavy like lead and turns white after exposure to the elements.

Vinegar will remove the calcium. Let it soak overnight.
