    Hi. I work with low income poverty adjacent individuals who essentially haven’t had much success in life overall and require much hand holding. Any advice for this population?

    • @michellemaclean
      @michellemaclean 10 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for your question. I believe the same ideas apply to this population. While they might need handholding in some respects, what we re trying to do with every person we coach, is to develop their self-efficacy and self-responsibility. We want them to believe in themselves that they can do it. they can make change, and we support them in developing agency and self accountability. We help them take responsibility for their own health and wellbeing and the actions they take. I suspect your work will be a lot about mindset and helping these folks believe in themselves and what they can do.

      If you do it all for them, they will never develop these skills.

    so basically you just encourage them to reach the goals that their doctors have and then if you have any alternative suggestions, you may educate them on it, but refer them back to their doctors. Is this correct?

    I'm a man in my 60's and I've not cried since I was a young teenager as I learnt that crying is just so pointless. When someone dies I think they were alive and now they're not...just move on. I just don't get all these people wailing and being miserable. I hate being around crying as I think people should grow up which my wife finds hard. Children cry adults shouldn't.

    So fantastic Michelle! This was very validating to hear what I am doing with my clients is the right way to coach. However, I am in a marketing class right now and am really struggling with trying to market to my niche without having a set program to "sell" to get new clients. I have to figure out how to let people know that I am out there! Love to hear your thoughts on how to market to a niche without going out of scope and staying within client led approach. I am being asked to market to my niche with result focused approach which seems counter to what I was taught as a board certified coach. I feel very confused about the marketing part of being a health coach and staying in scope. Hope that makes sense and ok for me to ask.

    I am curious if you have addressed the scenario of working with clients who are there for insurance discounts, aren't really invested in coaching and simply want advice and direction which is not exactly our role. When I ask these clients what actions they'd like to take on a particular challenge, I have gotten the response "I have no idea" which is a bit different than the "I don't know" in this video. They don't even begin to explore the possibility of what they can do about it. Are you able to speak to this scenario?

    • @michellemaclean
      @michellemaclean 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your comments Amy. I agree, that is a totally different dynamic than when someone willingly comes to coaching and pays good money to invest in a coach. This sounds like someone who is resistant to the process and unwilling to be an engaged participant in the coaching relationship. Which to me would go against our coaching agreement. I personally have not had that experience. I still would honour that they have the answers inside of them and would try all the possible questions to elicit from them what they would like to try.

    Do you look at the trackers your clients track? How do you know your nutritionist/trainer is checking them everyday? Do you pay your trainer more than you would charge since they are checking your info ?

    • @michellemaclean
      @michellemaclean 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I check in with my clients at their next session to see how they did with their actin steps. It is their responsibility to track. I know my trainer checks because she tells me. When I input into the excel spreadsheet she get's a notification and checks. I believe the relationship is a little different with my trainer/nutrition coach. I just gave that as an example of types of accountability.
