LANDROVER LR3 - DISCOVERY 3 JAMMED SPARE WHEEL WINCH REPAIR
มุมมอง 9646 หลายเดือนก่อน
I attempted to repair the wheel winch and succeeded. If you are not aware, be careful while winching up spare wheel winch without any load on discovery 3. The wire is always required to be loaded while winching up. Otherwise the wire will tangle itself and depending on the damage, it might need to be replaced.

LANDROVER DISCOVERY 3 - HEADLINER REPLACEMENT
มุมมอง 2K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is my first headliner DIY project. I have to say discovery 3 headliner is quiet difficult for the beginners due to few deeper areas around second and third row seat area. Overall I am happy with the job even though there were some marks and creases. Happy to have a fresh new fabric, previous one had lot of dog hairs. It seemed it wasn't cleaned or look after that well. Note: It pays to hav...
LANDROVER DISCOVERY 3 - ROOF AND REAR WHEEL COMPARTMENT HEAT / SOUND INSULATION SHEETS

While I had the headliner out, I decided to install the insulation sheets as well. I noticed while taking off the headliner the roof in summer gets really hot. The metal roof sheet on top of passenger and driver are single layer and let in lot of heat and sound. The rear wheel compartment - especially the right hand side has just one layer of metal sheet and lets in lot of noise. Thought it wou...

LANDROVER DISCOVERY 3 LR3 - LEAKING WATER OUTLET ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT + COOLANT TANK REPLACEMENT

    The nut you gave up on for the tie rod end was the right one. If the threads were not right, you would not have gotten the nut to thread on where the shaft was all the way to the end like you did. The nut is called a prevailing torque nut and is actually deformed a certain amount from the factory to cause drag on the threads. That drag or friction is the mechanism in most modern vehicles that prevents it from backing off. Where the old style relied on lock washers or cotter pins to hold them, or loctite.

    I replaced the whole radio on my 2005 LR with a similar zwnav system with a big Tesla type screen . Good option when infotainment system gets old and it’s worked fine now for 2 years . For rear camera rather use the integrated number plate light and camera, just a few dollars from Alibaba.

    Pretty cool! I think I’m going to order one for my LR3 also. Mines a 2005. I didn’t notice if you mentioned the size of the monitor. Is it a 9” by chance? That’s what I’m seeing on eBay. But they have other sizes. And have you been happy with the screen & its features, as far as them working as described etc? I have an iPhone & would mainly be getting one to use with airplay. You had good exp. using airplay so far? Thanks. I really appreciate you replying, in advance of your reply.

      @DISCO3_BEGINNER 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi mate Yes, its 9inch screen. I am pretty happy with the features. I bought it for Android auto connection, which works perfect. I guess apple carplay should work fine too. The front camera recording is good. However, i haven't installed the rear camera as yet. I need to find a way to figure out getting cable from rear side to the upper tailgate. I haven't had time to do it. I have ran cable under the headliner up to the top rear side but not installed the rear camera yet. I also haven't connected a tire pressure sensor monitor yet. I think that should work fine too. Overall, it serves my purpose of having phone connectivity. If you can find a good deal on aliexpress, it's worth it.

    • @SueDohman
      @SueDohman 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can’t say for absolute certain, but I’m pretty darn sure that I did notice a drain plug in the very back floorboard on my ‘05 LR3. But if my memory serves me correctly and that “is” what & where I saw that drain plug, I personally will most likely try running it up thru that hole, whenever I get this similar setup in the near future. I measured my factory screen tho, after I’d commented on your video the first time, and measuring diagonally at its widest width, I wanna say that I think I could only get 7” out of mine. lol. I’ll check it again when I go unload some things here shortly. Let me know tho, if you find that drain plug/hole I’m describing. Reason I discovered it, was due to my back tailgate that stopped opening. And I had to pull back the back floorboard carpet etc. and that’s when I noticed it. Have a look underneath the carriage, near where, or right where the spare tire sits against the underside of the back floor. Mine has aftermarket rims & tires. So the spare wasn’t there when I bought mine used. So that spot is empty. Maybe yours has the spare tire in that same spot. If so, & if you don’t see the drain I’m describing anywhere else, lower that spare tire & have a look-see in that area. Good luck! Let me know what you find out, if you do go hunting for it! Thanks for the reply, bud!

    Hey mate.This is a very impressive video.Can I ask you one thing.Did you use sealant on the pan gasket? I ordered a steel pan conversion kit and received a genuine paper gasket and a thicker aftermarket gasket. The genuine gasket is too thin and I am worried about oil leaking, so I am planning to use a thicker aftermarket gasket. Do I really need a sealant? Thanks

    • @DISCO3_BEGINNER
      @DISCO3_BEGINNER 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had planned to use sealant but when I dropped the pan, previous owner had used metal/rubber type gasket. I checked the condition, it was pretty smooth and looked fairly new. So I only cleaned up the mating surfaces on the transmission and bolted the pan without any sealant, no issues so far. I have driven almost 5,000km. I guess if you are using the paper or rubber type gasket then you would need a sealant. You can search for 'LAND DROVER 6hp26 Service kit metal/rubber gasket filter (suit steel pan) non gen' on mjproducts.com.au

    • @any0n378
      @any0n378 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The metal and rubber gasket is a Ford part. The same transmission is used in some Ford (I think it is a Ford Territory in Aus) vehicles, so if you can cross reference the ZF6HP26 and see which Fords were sold with that transmission, you should be able to buy the gasket from Ford.

      @abchkbh All good. I am on the same boat. My one is 2007, and has lot of minor stuff to fix. In my ownership of 10 months i have learnt so much. My take is Discos are not for the ones who are not hands-on and not keen to DIY. It will end up being very expensive. Trick is to invest in tools and do as much of maintenance yourself. Ebay is your friend, not many ppl know that it has discount code features every month ranging from 5 to 30% off. If you are good at shopping around you can get much better quality product on similar price as inferior ones. Febest are not bad but I think the price i got my TRW ones was close to other cheaper ones. Good luck and happy land rovering..

    Nice work. I am in Australia. Just got my LR3 2008 model over the wknd. Its a TANK so need some parking aids. Does have reverse camera but its CRAP. Could use some side cameras tbh... A 360degree camera system would be ideal. Do you know who can do something like that for me?

    • @DISCO3_BEGINNER
      @DISCO3_BEGINNER ปีที่แล้ว

      I reckon any auto electrician could do it. But honestly, I think if you have time and patience, it shouldn't be that hard. I didn't choose 360-degree camera option for this unit but it does have 360 degree option if you want. It will come with four cameras, there is a bit of a drilling involved in side mirrors but i dont think it is difficult, time-consuming, for sure.

    Great videos. Would be nice to see the final look at the end of the videos like on the mudflats and stereo installs.

      Thanks for the feedback. I will try to include final look in future videos. As you would have noticed, i am just a hobby youtuber so still learning.

    Interesting subject but poorly done video. No advance prep done by author and too much fumbling around trying to do things with one hand.

      Yes, may be. As per my channel description, i am a beginner and never intend to be a professional youtuber. I am just documenting what i do by myself with no helper and when i have time during weekends. If someone finds it helpful great, if not thats fine too..

      Interesting feedback. Remind me how many videos you've uploaded and the name of your channel? Thought so. Easy to criticise, not so easy to do.

    What did the parking brake sound like prior to doing the bedding procedure? Since it’s auto did it make a loud thunk each time it engaged?

    • @DISCO3_BEGINNER
      @DISCO3_BEGINNER ปีที่แล้ว

      In my case, there was no issue with parking brake. The reason i did bedding procedure was because i had to replace brake rotors. It was working fine with normal noise of motor engaging and disengaging..

      @@DISCO3_BEGINNERah ok. Mines making a clunk engaging sound. But I noticed rear brakes and pads seem newer. So I am wondering if they adjusted at all? I recently purchased this vehicle.
