Bring back books of the week!
This is a lame conversation.
Oh we have much lamer stuff than this!
This guy really likes laughing at his own jokes
He also intends to cry at his own funeral!
Have you been canceled again? I am missing the dynamic duo!😊
I hope this isn’t the final episode! CPL giveth and CPL taketh away.
I loved this book.
I miss you guys Are you coming back?

Where's the next Books of the Week? I hope you aren't discontinuing it. I look forward to it each week....even when I don't agree with Steve....

Hi
1:01
🤣 I loved watching Steve struggle to praise Dog Day Afternoon and the rest of the series. As it’s non-fiction November, will you be doing a entire episode of just non-fiction 🤞
Thanks for another rip roaring episode 😊❤
The man who has read everything has not read ANY of the 30+ Andy Carpenter legal mysteries?! For shame!!! They're not modern cozies, BTW - the covers are misleading. Wild cards are still winning!!! A NF recommendation about nature or science would be nice instead of always being about history and politics or somebody's memoir.
I love this show so, so much, thank you for making it possible!!!
Hey...the majority of your viewers likely enjoy Neal Stephenson so...
You'd be surprised - cosy regional mysteries are all the rage here in Germany. They are set in small Bavarian towns or by the German seashore up North. Maybe the most successful German genre at the moment and that moment has already lated a decade at least..
Non-Script November. Very nice, gentlemen!
Hey, now. I have met Peter Berg. He was down to earth and friendly.
This gets sillier by the week
I would die happy if you ever talk about a movie called The Substance with Demi Moore.
I thought we interrupted Jeff's yoga class 😂 and to think we could have lost Steve to Hollywood at some point in the past.
I can't remember when (if ever) was the last time I watched an episode of this show without laughing out loud 🤣.
If I remember correctly, Kate Wilhelm's story The Funeral appeared in a Dangerous Visions anthology. Not a Boy's Club member.
Steve at 43.39 was scarier than the last three Stephen King novels put together !
Jeff, that Gravity Falls comparison piqued my interest! Just downloaded the Kindle sample based on this fun book chat.
It's such a fun series! Betcha' some version of Bill Cipher will show up somewhere down the line, who knows?!
Thank you, Steve. I wish that every time Woodward’s name was mentioned it led to the same, totally earned bashing. 👍
I know better than to ask if Steve has read her, but I'd love to hear Steve's opinion of the novels of Julie Myerson. 😉
Find all the Colleen Hoover, Sally Rooney and Cormac McCarthy you can find Jeff 😈
Hey Jeff! You're still winning the wild card portion by showing books that regular readers read. Keep it up!!
I love these conversations! You guys always make my day better!
Thanks for the show! I say keep it contentious!
Thank God, you’re back. I need you in the run-up to the election. I live in Pennsylvania. It’s hard to get a respite from the tension.
You guys are the greatest!
👏
I read The Road for the first time this year and I thought it was incredible. I think it has more than a good chance to remain in the canon (as does a handful of Cormac McCarthy’s other books).
~ "Don't train a puppy but bombard them with unconditional love." -- Steve Donoghue Puppy love, laughs and lots of learning. Thanks, boys!
I loved The Road back in the day! It was the first (and I think only) book that I immediately reread... I'm keen to check out the graphic novel adaptation, I spied it on my hoopla last week, and need to get to it.
at least when you get fired on a Monday the unemployment office is open the next day
I prefer you do books rather than movies. Sorry.
Please either add the movies to your normal set or once a month a whole video comparing, ranting or recommending adaptations 🙏
Thank you gentlemen, what a lovely way to start my week.
If McCarthy had used a mother and daughter, The Road would have been a warmer, chattier narrative. 😁
Great episode, please do more movie talk next week! Now excuse me, I have to go find this Beowulf movie..
I showed that version of Beowulf to my high school seniors, assuming they hadn’t bothered to read it since 99% of them wouldn’t have been able to even if they wanted to. No, I hadn’t watched it before showing it to them. No, I didn’t run it by admin. No, I didn’t have very many years of teaching under my belt. And no, I am no longer a teacher 😂 we were all extremely disturbed. I quickly accepted that none of them would ever believe me that Beowulf is a beautiful story that involves no naked succubi. Oh well!
If director Robert Zemeckis cost you a teaching gig, sue the pants off him!
Don’t be silly, it’s impossible for teachers to get fired in America! I just respectfully bowed out 😂
@@MirandaKHayes Sue him anyway. He deserves it for that odious Pinocchio adaptation he thrust upon us a few years back!
You knock him so hard. Say thanks for The Village Voice.
