Did YOU know nut butter was so versatile?!
Haha this is brilliant!
SOARER👍
I've only just found your video. How are you getting on with the BOP2? I've got 2, first is complete and used the second was a parts bike that I have now put back together. Unfortunately you won't find new forks for this but you might be able to do the same as me and find other fork stanchions that are 25.2mm and have them made into what you need. Good luck with the bike, they are great fun to ride.
Beautiful MZ20 Soarer mate! I have picked up a very rough MZ21 a few days ago. Hopefully it scrubs up to look like your one.
Cheers lad, yeh I got lucky with this. Despite being in the woods for all that time it cleans up nice.
Ngl if i was in the woods and say this, i would loot every thing i can get my hands on ngl
Pretty shiny!
3:08 disgusting
Horrible.
i just saw the video .. i was wondering if you have tested the new power output when you put them back on or if you know the power band of the turbos with the mamba kit , because on the official website the say that the 9 blade gives more flow compared to the oem but they don't specify the new power band
Where are the new videos
I have one of these buddy you can buy if you’re looking for one It’s all here runs got the Original key I have the logbook and it’s historically Road registered
How much are you looking for it mate?
@@irontalonsengineering £ 600 mate
Might be a Toyota hiace for sale soon on land cruiser 17” steel Kombi converted with ac 👌🏾
what parts you used and what size spec rims and tires?
Whats the size if the E socket on the turbine housing
Drop the link for the rebuild kit botha🙏🏽
Thanks for the video but I wish you could have just slowed it down bro.
You know you can slow down the video, right?
Took up enduro about five years ago. For first gear, if you get a bike of your own you can rotate the gear peg around one tooth so it’s easier to hook up when riding the bike standing up.
Cheers for the advice mate! I am looking at getting my own now tbh but I need to do a bit more research on what exactly I want. Should be heading back to the track next weekend for another go.
@@irontalonsengineering no worries. I went for a 250 two stroke and then couple years later bought a 250 four stroke. Much prefer the engine braking on a four stroke. But everyone has their own opinion. Now I’ve got a bit of experience I’d look at something with a little more power but I want an all rounder for rally’s, green lanes and enduro play days. Whatever you get you will enjoy it…main thing is to get one….. oh and some leg protection 😃
You got me good with “I know a grand total of F all about these bikes” 😂
And it's still true 🤣
Absolutely sweet mate 👍🏻
do you know the torque specks? thank you so much for this video!!! have watched it many times and finally got the Mamba lit and now im going through the shit task of taking the turbos apart . Also Love your Soarer!!!
That’s what i’m wondering too.
When you paint the fenders, paint the center covers on the rims in the color of the van, it will look much better.
She is a beauty ❤ god bless brother 😊
Cheers for the kind words sunshine!
Brilliant work and loving the videos man! :D
Cheers lad! Much appreciated 👍
Looks like you fitted the nuts that came on the coilovers to the top mount. These are just for transportation and the original nuts need to be used otherwise the top mounts will crap themselves in no time at all
Unfortunately the nuts that were already fitted weren't the original nuts to begin with. I've put a new order in for OEM nuts so whe it's time to take the top mounts off and turn them down I can change those at the same time.
Rather than remove the caliper put a 5mm space on it.. had to do that doing it on my mk1
Good idea lad! Ta 👍
where are the wheels from ?
eBay, a shop called John brown wheels.
😮
I know, brutal isn't it.
Should the rolling not be carried out with the jack under the lower arms as this would put the rolling radius nearer the wheel axis - this isn't the compression from a bump axis position but is nearer than full extension axis when jacking point used.
It probably should be if you were that fussed about having the roller in the same position as the wheel, but doing it like this has always got me the results I've been after so I've never needed to do it that way.
Have a look at the Mercedes Vito/Viano if you're not sold on the T5. For what they cost they are a lot of van for the money, they drive more like a car in terms of handling and refinement. Also very well designed with cheap parts
Tbf those have cropped up on my Instagram feed a couple of times and I thought they looked good. The ones I see locally though always seem to suffer with rust, but I guess as a builders van etc they'll be neglected regardless of make.
@@irontalonsengineering a lot of the pre-2007 ones suffer with rust, from around then onwards the chassis are galvanised so it's not really an issue. As you say, a lot of them have had hard lives though
Mate! I’ve just had a brainwave! I know the reason as to why that rear arch has rubbed away back to white! The inside of the slide door has fallen down a touch in past and after several opens and closes of that slide door with it touching that arch has then rubbed the paint away. It looks perfectly in line with where it’s rubbed away 😂
I can just see the builder that own this, with his wonky door panel constantly catching the arch every time he opens the door and mumbling to himself 'Ill fix that soon'
You are running the wrong size tyres to be low is u had 255/35 not 275 u would had no issue at all
Oh I know that lad! If I changed the profile it wouldn't have been too bad, but I wasn't gonna put my hand in my pocket and spend another couple of hundred quid when these are brand new and rolling my arches was free.
Wow... Taking all that apart just to change the strut.....managed to get mine out with just removing top nut and bottom clamping bolts... 😮😮😮
Apparently I like making things hard for myself. At least I know how the whole corner comes apart now 😂
Dont those CHRAs need to be balanced before the housings go back on? I know the comp and turbine wheel are balanced as a set but most manufacturers recommend having them balanced once the CHRA is assembled.
Tbf yes they should be. Unfortunately I was working on a time frame to get the car back in one piece and leave due to selling the property. The turbos will be taken back off once the car is moved to the new property and the centre cartridges will be sent out for high speed balancing.
@@irontalonsengineering Ok I was just wondering, I know people that just send them like that without the balancing and have good luck, I however have the WORST luck so I always try to do it the right way. I was just checking in case you knew something I didn't lol. I am literally doing the exact same rebuild upgrade kit you are so its good to know the compressor housings dont need to be machined.
Welcome to the VW community! 😄A T5 is a great way to get into the Transporter scene. Lots you can do to it, its a very diverse vehicle! Loved the video and we look forward to seeing what do to your T5! 🙌
Cheers for the warm welcome guys! Yeh I've noticed that you can do quite a bit for not a lot of money so every week I seem to be getting something else 😂 Got a few more things to do to it just to get it looking the way I want but it's getting there.
Love the new daily fella. Love my Transporter - such a versatile machine
Cheers lad! It's growing on me tbf, gonna do a few more things to it just to get it looking right for me though.
Very very nice begining, loving it. Did I miss the wheel/rim size or didn't you mention it? Could you pls tell me 🙂 kind regards Paul
Cheers Paul! Wheels are 20x9's. Not sure of the offsets though.
Nice @@irontalonsengineering The tires are front and back the same width? Could you pls name the size too? Thank you 🙂
@@the-alien-paul4491 Yeh they're the same, they're 275/35/20's
thank you 🙂@@irontalonsengineering
You may find with the heavy wheel / tyre combo that you will get a “grab” on the steering wheel if you have to jump on the brakes, this will be the rear bushes on the front wishbones - cheap option is to replace the voided bush with a solid t32 version as they are same dimensionally and a pair of bushes are c.£25. Van looks 👍🏻
That's awesome lad! Cheers for the advice!
Definitely, replacement of all the rubber bushes, ball joints for new is way to go... no sense in keeping all the old ones when you replace suspension components
Low enough that mate, especially when the springs settle a bit
It's gone down a little further as they've been on over a week now. Need to roll the arches though as they rub slightly if I hit a large bump.
@@irontalonsengineering I’ve changed my suspension so many times because being too low on my dub doesn’t suit the places I go lol. Well done on the views though, it took me ages to get them kind of numbers on my channel lol
@@vwtransportersandmotorcycl3729 yeh it's gone a bit mad on this video 😂 I've got a fair amount to do to it still so I'll be doing some more for sure. I need it to stay this height ideally to finish moving into my new house, after that I'll do the hub and top mount mod and drop it by about another 30mm.
I keep telling people who ask me what engine is best I always tell them althe 1.9pd but they always get a 2.0cr like mine and now know their RAC driver by first name.
😂 tbf I didn't know until I told a mate I was going to look at a 2.5 and nearly got punched in the face
You only need to drop the hub with the stock suspension..with stance coilovers because they are shorter overall you won’t need to undo the hub or driveshaft ☺️ so it’s soo quick to get the suspension back off if you needed too 😊
Ah perfect! Cheers for that bit of knowledge lad! I'll have to remove them again when I want to do the hub mod and top mount mod in the future so that'll come in handy.
@@irontalonsengineering I recently changed my top mounts and only had to undo the 2 bolts on back of hub and drop links, the hub drops down with a bit of a wiggle and twist it’ll come out without all the hassle. 👌🏻
Yeah rear spring adjuster goes on top of the spring against the body 👍
Already sorted, cheers for the advice though lad 👍
Put a stage 1+ mapp it transforms it
Lad I bought it from said something similar, you got any more info on this? What I'll need etc?
looks lovely what tyre size did you go for?
Cheers lad! They are 275/35/20 load rated tyres. They came with the wheels.
Looks well on the stance's but adjusters on the rear should go at the top, there is vids on transporter hq
Already sorted that lad, cheers for the advice though. I had to take it back in the shop and cut the bump stops down anyway so I swapped them then.
Should have put the shock dust covers of the old shocks on the Coilovers’s just to keep them from getting shitty
That's a idea TBF. I've got to take the coilovers out again anyway when I do the hub mod etc so I'll do that then.
Just subscribed! hopefully more t5 stuff!
Cheers lad, yeh there will definitely be more T5 stuff.
Just found your channel, loving the video, the T5 is a great van and highly tuneable, you can convert some stuff from the T6 such as the steering wheel and stuff. The steelis look awesome! All it really needs is a proper headlight polish, paint polish and interior detail and its like new! :D Keep up the good work and good luck with the T5! :D
Bro that just made my day! Cheers for the kind words! I got out there today and tried to get a couple of things done so another video will be coming soon. Gonna give it a proper wash tomorrow but the detailing stuff I ordered didn't turn up in time so I'll have to do that when it's here.
You considered a murphy bed that folds against the side? sits nice on the wheels and coilovers
I didn't actually, that's a good shout mate. I'll look into that one. Cheers for that 👍
Looks quite tidy with the big modular steels on! 👍 Currently selling ny isuzu dmax and will be getting a van like the t5 or a transit custom and fancy the swamper look, be handy if theres a 4 motion van about in budget too
Cheers sunshine! Yeh the swamper look is good tbf, I didn't like it when I first saw it but it's grown on me a lot.
So how much was the van??
£3.5k, which was quite surprising considering how much they were during the plague.
@@irontalonsengineering I agree. Good luck with your new Van.
