Thankyou so much for sharing this story!! I was hooked at the start by the hilarious line about publishing a tissue 😂 But then I found it really inspiring for my own life, at various points in the book, possibly life-changing! Also. Spoiler Alert. I want a sequel 😃😃😃 I could see it including * Protecting the mum from the sleazy professor guy. Maybe also publicly exposing his sleaziness in a sassy move on his show? * Emma building a new relationship with her mum with healthy boundaries * A cute side story about emma and aiden becoming friends the author of that book they loved from the conference, and that author getting some well deserved recognition. * Aiden and emma create some real world change in the legal/justice system through their books. But it's not exactly what they expected to achieve as they learnt new perspectives about justice from Jamal during those workshops with the youth. (The flavour I'm thinking of is like the program where prisoners can adopt cats based on good behavior and it changes prison life for the better.) * And of course some more romantic kisses! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Would you consider it???

The narrator was a bit off-putting, but she sounds like a TH-camr who tells histories of poisonous paints, and she's really interesting. The contrast of the two writers, and their backgrounds, is done really well! I can identify with the girl's feelings and experiences though my experiences are different. I'm very glad I listened to the end, there's a lot to learn even for an old gal ~ 73~ like me❣️🤟🏽🫶🏽👏🏽👍🏽

I had to stop listening at 1:47:10, I couldn’t take the pushy roommate anymore, and didn’t like the main female character that how unappreciated she is and trying find faults on Paul’s gestures.

i really appreciate you posting these audiobooks! my local library puts a limit on the amount of books people can checkout per month and a limit on the audiobooks on the mobile app.. it’s been tough as a book lover to get affordable access to books 🩷

I was going to rate it 4/5 stars because it’s cute but the ending bumped it down to a 2 1/2 - 3 stars.. the ending is wayyy too rushed

While this is a nice, light read, it isn’t my favourite by Ms. Jacobson. It was entertaining but relies almost entirely on stereotypes… a single mom who didn’t share her secret with (robbed) her child’s father of years with their child due to a misunderstanding, controlling wealthy parents who offered to pay her off, an evangelical Christian stepfather who judged, a non-supportive mother who is now not involved for reasons unknown, an absent, rebellious travel writer father who returns to their lives out of the blue after years of absence and sweet baking single woman who struggled her way out of her trailer park upbringing. Even a childhood bully who seemingly only prods the weakness of having no father. And everything a bit too easy to fall into place. An elderly next-door-neighbour who is okay with babysitting at 4:45am every day, a Boy Scout troop that accepts (just one) moms for camp-out, quirky, accepting townsfolk and an easily forgiving father who just can’t help himself from loving her… even slipping easily into a custody agreement then an easy family dynamic. Again, sweet but predictable and too easy.

I couldn’t listen to the whole thing unfortunately. The narration is a bit repetitive and sing songy and ended up being annoying.

Use of the term "Gents" is odd, a type of maggot used for fishing 😂

Like the story, think narrator is advanced ai, Will needs to grow a pair, sick of a relationship, be honest, show them the door ❤
