I had one that would stall at idle. Low pressure fuel sensor was sending the wrong data. Just wondering if the data the scan tool is seeing is correct. Dealing with this with my daughter’s car. 2017 1.5 108,000mi. Do you feel all the work for the engine replacement was worth it?
Great video! I have recently started doing maintenance and repair work on forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts. I never realized how few people work on this type of equipment, I enjoy it! Looking forward to more!
100% Usually you get some sideways looks from people like this is some antiquated job from yesteryear. This career path has definitely caught up to the 21st century just in the time i've been working on it. Not quite to the level of cars/trucks complexities but there is a ton of emissions, modules, ECM, TCU, etc etc. and require a decent amount of diagnostic work. I've worked with many people in just the past 10 years that just cannot grasp the technical side of things well enough to be successful. All technicians can be parts changers but not all parts changers can be techs. Good luck on your repairs! Thanks for the watch and comment. Hopefully you'll tune into some future videos of mine that might help.
Good content brother in glad to see a quality technician and youtuber starting anyway haha video qualitys great bro i work on material handlers skid steers and a wide variety of heavy industry equipment and garbage trucks for 15 yrs. Keep up the hard work i couldnt inagibe ttying to produce a nice video while working
Thank you! Been at this 12 years now doing forklift, shuttlewagons, aerial equipment, shuttle trucks and mid sized construction equipment. Everything from gas/LP, battery and diesel. That is my biggest struggle is making good content while working. Can't always plan my shots, don't always get everything on video and my commentary is sometimes crap because you're so focused working. I'm sure you can relate, you do something new almost every day. So that adds more stress to getting things done and recording yourself. 😆 Appreciate the watch and comment!
Great tutorial! I need to replace cells in our DC Solar Trailer and you definitely encouraged me! Thank you! Where can I purchase a stinger and rods - + lead from?
Thank you! They are carbon arc rods. The stinger is just a normal stick welding stinger and some welding cable wire. I believe this is1/0 or 2/0 cable. Thanks for the watch and comment!

On the road to 500 subs! Hope everyone enjoyed the content, lots of different topics in this video. Should be lots to talk about. Drop a comment below! Thank you!
Way better to buy a long block.
Definitely easier to do. definitely not cheaper dollar wise. I saved myself at least 2,500 over doing the long block. Probably lost on time or at most, a wash. thanks for the comment and the view!
I just did the same engine swap on a 2017 Ford Escape 2.0 liter. Dropped it from the bottom with no lift and reinstalled it with a floor jack , transmission jack and a engine lift.
This really wasn't a horrible job. A lot of things I wasn't aware of going in, but I've done worse jobs
Are you certain that the o-ring part number located under metal fuel pressure cover is correct? On ford website says it’s for turbo charger coolant tube? The DS7z-8527-a
You are 100% correct. I discovered that after the fact. I got it changed out later on. I wish it was easier to edit videos to make the appropriate corrections. Appreciate you bringing this. Pretty sure it's the only mix up I had though that I'm aware of. So hard when they toss you a parts list with the most vague descriptions.
Would you have the correct part number? I just want to be certain I order the correct orings. Thanks and again, awesome video 👍
yep, took me a minute to find the part number. W717236S300
That burr bit is a tall order for that weak ass right angle die grinder. Milwaukee really dropped the ball when they made those. Get yourself the 18v version die grinder. That thing can hog!
Yea the m12 is great for the wiz wheels for dressing stuff. Can't exactly lean on them hard. However, having the 5.0 Ho battery does help quite a bit but it's no m18 die grinder
Once? I left lights, sockets, wrenches you name it
Or the stuff you thought you lost! Bought again, just to find you misplaced it, and now you have two. 😅
Is there a proper sequence to removing the cam caps?
For removing, no. To install and torque, yes there is a sequence and spec.
Thank you sir. Great video
What is "Sad Day" on this big thing?
Torque converter seal failure. Have to pull the transmission and take the torque converter out in order to change a 50 dollar seal. 😆
Hope you put anti-seize on the new one
Just some pipe dope since it's a pipe fitting
Looks like a piece of hydraulic equipment not a plumbing fixture
Hydraulics use npt quite often. This was 1- 1/2 npt thread. That bung doesn't have an O-ring or any kind of sealing face, so you use "thread sealant," but I just like saying pipe dope.
Where your PPE are you'll make nonsense videos like this
? I was wearing PPE or maybe I misread your comment?
Yeah, I did the light one time in the hydraulic tank, and I had a real brain fart
Best part is when you re-find your own tool again later.
Completely missed an opportunity for a ***insert P-diddy joke here*** with all the bung hole talk.
now that's a dirty bung-hole
Hopefully now that it's fixed they'll wipe better next time. 😂
internal wrenches are for things just like this. they arent expensive either!!!
I do have some, the context I didn't give in the video is I used 3/4 impact to get that fitting out. That's why it broke off, i didn't even attempt the internal wrench cause she was STUCK!
@@Fixed-ish Amazing how some rust or corrosion can weld a part into place. Also amazing how some heat from a propane/ map/ or oxy-acetylene can Un-weld it.😂
@Fixed-ish judging by the how it looked when you finally got it looks like it was sitting next to a grenade when it went off lol
You did an excellent job there mate. I would have done exactly what you did. Very well done.
Thanks 👍
Always hate when my bung breaks off in the frame 😒😒
It's the worst, especially when you are the one that broke the bung off in the hole 😅
I saw where you touched the threads. 0:35 top and bottom.
Little pipe dope and no one is to the wiser 😂
@@Fixed-ish 🤔🤐
@@Fixed-ish Yeah... But now we all know🤣
Hack saw, if you cut through it will only be a small nick in the threads.
I didn't think of that at the time, I do have an air saw. Might have been worth doing that over getting aluminum burrs all over the place
Clean and use high heat grease on the threads. It is the best for keeping threads from rusting or this problem happening .
Haven't done that before but it would certainly work. This is pipe fitting so I used pipe dope and hopefully I'll never see this fricken thing again. 😄
"Didn't even touch the threads!" UH, yeah, look again at that segment of video. lol NOT enough for a leak, or a problem of any kind, but right at the top, you certainly hit the threads with that burr bit. Good work.
Yeah, completely did touch the threads.
No they just come like that, gives them better grip
@@cam5816 Ahhh, somewhere for the Teflon tape to go when tight, I get it. lol
Once the fitting goes back in you'll neeeeever know 😉 I should have pointed the camera at my face satire effect 🫣
Found a snap on light next to my transmission a month after they rebuilt it lol
That's part of the reason I like these cheaper lights. Doesn't hurt as much to lose and they work well.
Found one of those lights on my rear axle weeks after they worked on my car. Puppy hung on pretty good
I left a prybar in a telehandler engine bay once after replacing a starter. Found it 2 years later when I took the engine out for an oil pan leak. (Looked up work order history and it was almost 2 years to the day)😅
My magnetic light went for a ride under an is300, it must have went out because of low battery while I had the car on the lift so I didn’t notice it. Cleaned up my tools and noticed it missing. I called and asked the customer if it was where I described and it was, I was willing to meet them to get it but they brought it back, they were just so pleased that their car was working so well after the repairs they didn’t mind bringing it back
@shidukirider thats awesome😅 if I don't put my light away right when it dies or is dying, I'll lose it. Done it several times and that's why I buy cheaper lights especially when I find ones I like!
@@Fixed-ish Well. I guess you'd call that a bright idea. Thanks for shedding a little light on what otherwise could be perceived as a relatively dark subject.😂
That looks like a dirty job but a tad fun if you love using power tools 😅
It's frustrating in the moment, but you gotta make it fun, or you'd lose your mind.
What is the size of that crown drill bit for removing the contact rails?
Depends on how you like to measure. I.D. of the bit is 11/16ths or .6875 or 18mm O.D. of the bit is 15/16 or .9375 or 24mm. Thanks for the watch and the comment!!

I'm just doing mine Escape 1.6 gasoline... same problem: long block cylinder's top bended cause leak... I'm not changing the long block. I want to repair it a different way. What bothers me is that it took you 6 over six months to do it ahahaha... this is my socond month and I'm doing it under the sky in a unpleasant weather ...
Haha, you and my wife both.😁 The super sad part is im a mobile mechanic, so I spend the majority of my career working outside in all the elements. This project was inside a dry, heated/air conditioned barn.
@Fixed-ish I understand you, bro. I'm doing mine after my normal work as well. Seems like regardless of geography, wives tend to be the same 🤣. Sorry about that, I didn't mean to criticize 😉. I'm happy that yours Escape works fine. In Europe this model is called Kuga 2. I'm trying to remove my long block now. Removing all equipment sitting on it... I plan to leave the clutch and gearbox in the engine bay, untouched.... It's not easy but doable...
Nice work. I work for an industrial battery company out of Nashville TN. I use a small torch setup and have a carbon rod setup for a backup. We just use a chain with the forklift to pull the batteries out and also use it to pull the cell.
Before the crane that's how I'd been doing cells, using a forklift with that same vice grip looking tool. I recently posted another video doing a cell/post repair and wish I did it with the torch instead of the arc. If you get a chance, check it out. Thanks for the watch!
Reminds me of the big Reds at the steel plant here
You operate or work on them? Or just seen them? I really like old-school stuff like this. Most of this stuff is just scrap anymore.
@@Fixed-ish licensed for man lifts, forklift and telehandlers. Never operated a big red, as their known in our steel plant but the first three I mentioned I did as part of a job. Have u? Think about your comments
@@coreysim-th9tl I've done a lot with this job. Worked on all sorts of aerial equipment, telehandlers, small and large forklifts, rail car movers, shuttle trucks, electric/diesel/gas/LP of all brands. Drove and worked on them all. Not sure about the last part of your comment though? Thanks for watching and commenting!!!
@@Fixed-ish cool
Sorry took your original question the wrong way
I used to work on industrial batteries like that. We used a drill bit made for removing the cable or cell connectors. I was taught to use an oxy/propane torch. Blew out the gasses from nearby cells so as not to blow off a cap. It was cool seeing it done that way.
I have used the torch and done it that way. It actually has a better finish product. I like the carbon arc because it's simple and gets the job done. I think for this iob a torch would have been the better option.
I learned a similar technique in the British Army. We had no carbon rods as you have here, so we used to take ordinary small ('C' type) batteries apart to get the carbon rod out of them and used that. As ya do. I'll be honest, our method seemed to penetrate to a deeper area than yours does, but each to their own. If it works! Thanks for reminding me of the days I spent either frozen or up to my knees in mud, repairing battery posts on Tanks and various armoured vehicles.
That's awesome! Funny how we might have been miserable at the time but looking back, we wouldn't trade it for the world. Thanks for the story and taking the time to comment.
@@Fixed-ish It's my pleasure. It's gratifying to see someone unwilling to label something as 'broken' until it's truly beyond repair. I believe that welding fabricators and blacksmiths are underrated trades and are rarely paid what they're worth. The welder/fabricator or blacksmith is often the last resort after a series of failed repair attempts, non-working fixes, and the dashed hopes of the 'That's not hard' crew. Only then are the broken, twisted, and almost unrecognizable pieces presented to the tradesman, telling him how everyone but himself had a hand in messing it up, and "Do you think you can fix this cheaply? I wouldn't ask, but I spent so much on the people who couldn't fix it so have only a little left to pay you." Such is life. 🙂 I have subbed and I'll settle down for a while and see what else you have been doing. I have had a quick glance and it all seems very watchable stuff so, well done. I am sure your TH-cam presence will take off really quickly. As you progress though, you'll attract the naysayers who will try to bog you down in arguments instead of accepting that different people do things differently. Ignore them and you'll do fine. Stay safe.
Wow, truly appreciate this response. Definitely hits home. Thank you!

What in the world 😮
Operators, pure talent they are
got your answer for you. Need to bring it to the dealer and relearn the IDS. Fixed mine. They said after an engine replacement you need to have it relearned. $200.
Fantastic! I'm going call and make an appointment to get that done. Hopefully gets me fixed up. I'll definitely update when I get it done.
Did you figure it out? I have the exact same thing going on a a 2018 Ford escape that i just did the engine on. Always 1 and 4, never either, always both. I swapped plugs, coil packs, cleaned the injectors, compression tested, boroscoped the cylinders......... I actually threw in the towel and dropped it off at the dealership this afternoon so they can hook it to their scanner. My fuel pressure was at 2195 on the Freeze frame. I know when you get the flashing engine light and the misfire the PCM shuts those injectors off so it doesn't cause any damage.
How much voltage do you use
Approx 6v is enough to get it done and not risk blowing out the side of the cell interconnector. If they are really thin connectors I'll wrap a wet towel around the edge to prevent that from happening
I think that one per five have the coolant issue what it runs into the pistons and that's why you could be having a misfires
Love the irony that you need a forklift to service a forklift…
Haha me too.
I know I am thankful it's running again!! Thanks babe!! ❤
THAT BRACKET GOES ON THE PTU TO BLOCK
I learned ford prints their number on like everything. I just Google the number and figured out where it went pretty quick. Thanks for the watch!
thanks for sharing !
do you think they actually need that design? weld it shut? could you just keep changing the head gasket at like 60k to not have the gasket fail?
Not 100% sure. It's either a steam port or a way to cool the siamese bore. It's probably needed for reliability to make the kind of power it does for such a small engine. As for just doing head gaskets, still a lot of work and I've known people to get less than 30k before gasket failure. We put that many miles on our cars annually, that'd get old AND expensive. Haha
Looking at doing this myself in the next year, thanks for the content!
Don't enjoy yourself too much. It's really not that bad honestly, if I just took a few days off and tried to do it in one sitting, maybe 30 hours doing it this way...
Where did you find the block ? I already went to my closets dealership and they don't have it on stock, they have in back order for at least 2 months
I got mine from dewey ford in ankeny iowa. They are a bigger dealership. I had mine in a couple days of ordering.
I can't wait!! 😊
