Well done Simon👌. Job done. Hope the niggles get sorted. I’ve been managing an Achilles niggle for months. Rest didn’t really help so it’s all about prehab/rehab work. I raced the British AG Middle Distance Tri champs at Grafham back in 2014. Good venue but we didn’t run on the grass at all. We looped around the trail path and the dam. Don’t fancy the cross country stuff you had!
@@sagsdothedu The knee has settled this week with some good stretching and massaging with the gun. The Achilles is still tight so got physios next week and will try and manage it until then and see what they can do. Hopefully it’s nothing long term and will pass. The trail path would have been better for the run course to be honest. A bit muddy and slippery in places and with the tarmac sections it’s difficult to know what shoe is best. All good fun though and for a triathlon in the summer it might be a bit better, although with our summer weather you never can tell lol.
useful video Simon, going to get a no pins belt.
Love mine, really good. You can get it with loops for gels too. Same price which is handy.
Like the Nonpinz number belt! I’ll go for one of those. Always hate pinning my LeCol Speedsuit for TTs. And do Duathlon it just looks simpler and more comfy. Stay strong 💪
Yeah they're great to be honest. The speedwrap also looks good too nopinz.com/product/speedwrap/
Great video and lovely views of the countryside. Good luck for the race on sunday ❤ x
So good to see so many of the paths and trails I used to run on. Cheers.
@@pauledgerton1759 if you have any recommendations let me know> Always like to find new paths to explore.
@@simonhallgbduathlete if I didn’t runup Clent, I’d head over to Stourbridge and park at the top of Ounty John Lane. From there, run past the water works and head down the trail towards the Kidderminster Road. At the bottom you can either turn right towards Bunkers Hill wood and Ridgehill or left and follow the trails towards Churchill. It’s all good.
Te trails are the best for long runs. Looks really nice.
@@sagsdothedu always do my long runs on the trails.
Gonna get a pair of these, using Velotoze at the moment absolute so & so to get on thanks for the vid
@@1972malberto I’ve been really pleased. They did come up quite big. I put some insoles in which made the difference. Felt haven’t been cold in them though and pretty good in the wet too.
It always intrigues me as to how duathaletes get a mid ground sort of performance weight between super lean runner and usually though not exclusively somewhat 'beffier' flat road time trialer-----?.
I've come from a running back ground and initially really struggled on the bike. Had to work hard over the last few years to get my splits down. I've found weight training has massively helped and I've managed not to ad weight. Also more structured training and joining a local club to get dragged around on a Saturday morning has also really helped. I started doing more and more time trials and as this has also helped my bike split.
Audio is pretty poor. & too much chat, not enough focus on the bike. Great bike!
@@davepoole8530 thanks for the comment. Pretty new to this TH-cam stuff. Since the video bought a little Bluetooth mic to help with audio. Thanks for the feedback and hopefully future videos have and will improve further.
Well done Simon
🎉great result! Very well done!
Great to see you and your so right about the bike transport being stressful !!!!! well done on your race.
Good effort Simon, good to meet you as well
Great to meet and chat. Hope you enjoyed the race/event. Hopefully see you at a few more.
Well done Simon
Thanks chap
Great effort. See you in Coimbra - sprint for me!
Look forward to seeing you pal.
Bad idea... Slamming the stem. Comfort is the most important thing
Still comfy. I do a lot of strength and conditioning and this isn’t aggressive for me. Haven’t had any issues and similar to my other bikes.
Keep going
An hour each way with about 1000ft climbing. But o used it for club chain gang too at the weekend.
Super bike and setup. What distance is your commute?
Well done Simon. Tough day on that course with the wind. I saw you but you were in the zone and I thought best not interrupt you👌. Everyone was struggling on that second run. I so bike/run repeats using the Zwift tiny race series. It’s great for that pressure transitions and short run hit hard.
Thanks chap. Always enjoy a good chap, so hopefully next time we can catch up. Great atmosphere at these events and always enjoy catching up with everyone. Hopefully speak next time.
great recap vid and great result and I love your Factor.
Cheers chap. Been really pleased with the Factor.
Yeah when you can that would be fab and will link it back to your channel hopefully help each other.
Just found your channel, well done in those conditions
Horrible conditions. Need to get some videos over to you.
Looked yak conditions 🌧️. Well done on a good result despite carrying some fatigue. Maybe see you (disappearing into the distance 😅) at Oulton Park on 24 March 👊
Wasn’t too bad. It was the water and debris on the roads which was horrible. Hopefully catch up at Oulton.
Good result Simon, well done 😊👏👍
Cheers mate.
Beautiful bike!
Thank you, really pleased with it so far.
Been pleased considering their a lot different to the alphafly. At this price point I might even buy another pair and have the two for race day. Previously done that with some Asics shoes I had. Makes it easier for the second run having a pair positioned for T2 .
Mmmm I’ve been testing the Adios Pro 2. The run performance is great and compatible to the Alphafly I reckon. But not great in transition. The Vaporfly is better in transition and I’m testing the Puma Fast-R at the moment. These are awesome in transition but not quite the spring of the Adios pro 2. Not tried the Takumi. Now the Takumi 10 is out, there will be deals in the v9.
Can I ask, how do I get into doing duathlons? Do I need to join a club or can I just apply to enter online as a individual?
You can enter online so there an easy sport to get into. Great fun and win the UK we have quite a few races on Grand Prix circuits if you don’t fancy racing the bike on the open roads.
I'm not getting notifications.. apparently notifications aren't allowed for videos labelled "made for kids" .. (according to TH-cam)
Don’t normally label it for kids so I’ll check that next time
@@simonhallgbduathlete I can't activate notifications on any of your recent vids!
I now hibernate in Watopia over winter 😂. So no need for much winter cycling gear. But probably need some for the early season Duathlon racing🥶
I wear toe covers for the colder duathlons. You should try some CASTELLI Toe Thingy 2 Cycling Toe Covers
Crikey😮that selfie stick is a beast! Great for overhead footage 👌
Been pleased with it so far. Cheaper than a drone lol
Hi just curious hat size you are on and your seat height...thanks!
Riding a 56 frame. The height to the table of the saddle from the top tube is 36cm. I’m 182cm
@@simonhallgbduathlete thanks man!
Hi
That’s a decent pace off road ✊. I’m back in the track but this cold snap could make it a bit slippy 😮. But then it’s good prep for cold March Duathlons😅
Always find the morning sessions tough. I generally find the pace gets quicker through the sets as I wake up lol. Do all my sessions on grass now. Would like to get on the track more but it’s more convenient getting the run sessions done before work.
stacked field!
Nice work for first week back after a break. Do you train on Zwift at all over the winter months?
Two to three sessions on Zwift. I do my structured efforts in Zwift as can’t do them on the roads in reality. I use my commute as my steady miles instead of driving when I’m in the office. Work from home three days a week and two in the office. Saturdays is either club ride (solid pace) or Zwift.
@@simonhallgbduathlete All the best for your build up to the 2024 season. Maybe see you at Oulton Park 24 March ✊
Speedy Simon. You planning on racing the 2024 British Champs at Oulton Park in March? I’m documenting my Duathlon journey here: youtube.com/@sagsdothedu?si=r47KWZ-ZX5m3P3cW
Top job, top racing 👌 always great to hear you smashing it 👍
Thanks chap.
great video, do you feel fatigue/body sore after 2 hours ride?
No seemed fine to be honest. It’s actually pretty comfy. The tubeless setup really helps to be honest. Feels really smooth. When is did video I had all the stacks in on this stem. I’ve since slammed the stem and it still feels good. I think if you’ve had a bike fit you’ll be fine. I’ve not done Amat seriously long rides. Max 2.5/3hours to date.
Well done on the race 😊👏 going well 👍 I must say, the music in this vid isn't helping... I struggled to hear you clearly and it isn't adding anything to the video 😉👍
Cheers pal. Still working on this video stuff so good to get feedback. Might be a little loud on reflection. Good result to finish the Duathlon season. Now to focus on 2024
really curious about this bike, but man, mic issue man.
Yeah, not great audio. All part of the learning curve.
👍 you need to work on the audio
Yeah. Not ideal. Been looking at a little wireless mic as the phone/GoPro isn’t ideal when set a little further away
where did you guys install the blip box?
On for the stem. Had a little carbon housing 3D printed by Vires Velo where I bought it from.
Have you done any ironman/triathlon on the hanzo?
I’ve done duathlons. Standard and middle distance on it, had a Trek Speed Concept previously. Done a few Ironmans in the past so will most likely do some triathlons and half/full Ironman on it in the future.
I find that using a good tubeless sealent is more important than the differences between most of the fast tires (Corsa Speeds, Conti 5000 TT, Veloflex). From my experience the Silca sealent is hard to beat and I am comfortabling road race on either the Conti TT or Corsa Speed.
Thanks for the advice. Gone for the new corsa pro which was launched at the Giro. Currently running clinchers which aren’t that great. Looking forward to seeing how the tubeless go.
Love a good chain gang. Cant beat it.
Great recap mate, the cold weather really did a number on me😂. Someone needs to design heated bike handle bars.
Cheers chap. Bloody freezing on the bike lol.
I hope you do a video on the Matt Botrill visit and follow up with the cockpit upgrades.
Will do not long to go now before the fitting.
always listen to music especially during the efforts, can watch tv during the warmup but like you the tv puts me off
Well done on the podium mate. Top effort.
