Yes, that was tuff, but some try to tackle that job with out removing the steering column. And it's much worse. Looking good, enjoy your C3. I have a 75 and rewiring from stem to stern. Not looking forward to tackling the dash. Thanks for the video.

My problem for loosing power steering fluid was,when I was backing up into my driveway, turning the wheel all the way to do a right hand turn, the cylinder rod entering into the cylinder. While the cylinder going to the driver side would just touch the oil pan enough to create a small bind. This would created pressure on the seal , enough to make it a fair amount of a squirt every time. I could see the rubbing mark on the oil pan. No more full turn back up right hand turn solve my problem.

I snapped my dipstick off trying to get it out. Turned out I had the wrong belt. With the correct belt, you can slip that dipstick out. Also use your narrow funnel with clear tubing on the end to fill. Use your finger as a dipstick to check the level. I can do it with my eyes closed... yeah, all c3 power steering leak, even when new

welding in shorts, socks and tennis shoes with flux core, you are a brave man,.... many of socks I have ruined doing the same thing...lol

Good video thank you for the info...... I want one for my Baja.... the only thing that I was disappointed with on the box was the way you anchor it to the bed. If a crook has a Phillips with them your box is history. I would look into one way screws where they can't back them out and then bend that metal piece back over the screw. I know that with the right tools, cordless grinder etc they can steal anything but at least slow them down.

that's a nice looking setup, nice troubleshooting too! we got a new one installed today, but the outlet for the gases from the heater was only connected to a 2 ft pvc pipe, which is then connected to an aluminum dryer vent pipe(for now), joined with the dryer vent pipe itself, i realize now this is probably a very bad idea

Buy a pneumatic bleeder at Harbor freight they’re only 40 some bucks. You can bleed them all and you don’t have to even get inside. That’ll suck the air out and it were they were great. I do all cars by myself and don’t even have to pump the pedal.

Nice video! I bought my Maxjax about four years ago, but I didn’t trust my concrete so I cut a 12’x4’ pad, glad I did! Existing concrete was shit, barely 4”, the mesh was all the way under it, plus it’s 60 years old. Now I’m 12” thick, undercut, lots of rebar, all according to the manufacturer specifications plus. Ready to start drilling. My question is, how far did you space your posts, and do you like the spacing? I have a ‘74 Corvette, basically the same as yours.

My furnace sits on four 12" cinder block pavers. The water heater is in a plastic catch tray to protect basement during failures.

I've very new to wood stoves and recently finished installing mine. I have no issues getting the fire started, but it never seems to get going very strong, even with air intake wide open. Using fresh air intake setup as well so it's a closed system. Took over 2 hours for me to get the stove temp up to around 400F so I can get it to off gas. Is this normal for it to take that long to draft faster? It is hot outside too I hear that can have an effect so maybe I'll have better luck when it's colder. I'm kind of toying with adding a small computer fan on the intake so I can use it to boost the draft but the instructions do explicitly specify to not do that.

This was a very helpful post. Thanks for making this video. I feel more confident moving forward with a similar project to discharge the water from our basement washing machine up to the waste line. Question- So you bought three pvc threaded male adapters for the intake, discharge and vent, then cemented the 1 1/2” pipe to those which lead to the rubber disconnect hose with band clamps?

Question: My project is to replace the original tachometer with a new electronic tach. In order to access the tach, it seems that I will need to get the steering column out of the way. Is it possible to do this by unbolting the steering column and simply dropping it down, or must the steering column be removed entirely? I would appreciate your advice. Thanks!

Good idea for your situation, but I was looking for something a little different. Our garage is fairly close to one of our bedrooms, but there isn’t any way to easily run the wire from the garage to the bedroom. I accidentally left our garage door open a few times including last night, and I’m looking for something like you did but want to make it wireless. I’m sure someone has done it, just need to find out what is available. I checked my garage NEST camera and the only thing that moved all night long was a fly that got to close to the lens. Thanks!

Mark, this looks phenomenal! I've been thinking on and off about trying to find/modify a sun visor or moon visor. I'm not surprised to not be able to find any for my 3rd gen outback, the generation after this model. Recently I've become more resolute in actually tracking down and getting a visor. I'm kinda terrified to do fiberglass work if I'm being honest, I'm afraid I'll ruin my part, but I've got some friends willing to help me. I'm going to have to call back on this video for pointers and design choices! You might be the only Baja with a sun visor, but soon I'll be the only Outback with a sun visor.

You could swap the gauges for ones that also show the speed and rpm digitally. Not a cheap fix, though.

Couldn’t you tilt/move to wheel To position it more comfortably to see the gauges?

My biggest consideration for a smaller steering wheel was the fact that in a crash the first thing to make contact with the steering wheel would be my nuts.

It’s actually something you won’t think about until it’s done. And yea it’s true in most any vehicle. My 70 mustang got a smaller wheel by one inch and it kept me from seeing the speedometer as well as fuel gauge. Not only size can be a factor, the depth or offset can also pose a problem with getting in and out of car. Not so much with a tilt tel but with standard columns that are fixed.The different size wheel offset also can affect the blinker arm and it could end up being too close or far away. Again the corvettes that have only power assists seems would make it a bit more troublesome to turn. I put a Borgeson full power on line but I like the steering wheel 🛞n my 81 so well the bought an exact reproduction. Thanks again. Good-good-good.

I got a 73 convertible, the only issue with original steering wheel is can get sticky sometimes
