What I've learned since quitting my job
In this video, I reflect on the key insights, challenges, and unexpected lessons I've encountered in the first 60 days since quitting my 9-5 corporate job.
I dive into themes such as:
- How we anchor our self-worth to external measures of success.
- Recognizing burnout as a mindset and inquiring into what this drive to be "productive" is really about.
- Procrastination as an avoidance of feeling a particular emotion.
- The importance of being fully present in my body and allowing myself to feel emotions deeply.
On this channel, I share insights along my journey toward a more free and authentic life. If you feel called, please Subscribe and join in on the conversation.
Thank you for taking the time to join me on this journey of self-discovery.

    I feel you, man. I've never bought into those labels or scores either. That quote-'Follow your bliss, and the universe will open doors where there were only walls'-used to resonate deeply with me. I thought loving what you do would make everything feel different, but I was wrong. When you love what you do and have to make a living from it, you end up setting for something . It feels like selling your soul to the devil. I’ve quit jobs repeatedly for the same reason, trying out all kinds of creative fields over the years, all to avoid making paintings that sell ... over making paintings that i believe in ... in those jobs it always felt like i am selling the same amount of soul ... i no know. Now, I’ve decided to start my own business so I can control the compromises I make. Recently, I came across Adler’s life tasks, and it really struck a chord. making sure to be self reliant first then create space for growth, with a bit of love for yourself and what you do-that feels like enough to find peace. Thank you for sharing your experience =)

      @tylerjkeenan 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for the thoughtful comment and reflections. And yes, I also recently learned about Adler's concept around the "life task". I really like the framing, and it feels more useful and true to me than "purpose". Appreciate you so much, thanks for watching.

    Something that has helped improve my feeling of being more in touch with my body is signing up to train Muay Thai. Makes me feel like a warrior even though I'm very mid. But it feels great to train. My external scorecard is currently my job and my car. I have a gf. Two close friends. And I live with my family. I'm 31. Some of my best days were spent when I was unemployed around 3 years ago. I learned about the beauty of life and witnessed the magic in a sunrise. But I was also seriously depressed because I had nothing on my scorecard and I had no sense of achievement. I needed to achieve something. I felt low on the human hierarchy. So with David goggins as my guide I got a job, cycled to work every day. Started training muay thai. Ran a marathon. Got a car. With lots of mundane pain in between with a few happy moments. The last few months ive been slacking. Smoking. Staying up late. Saying yes to outside influences. As a result I feel shit about myself. But I'm still doing a good job in work. But not enough to get a promotion. Even though my scorecard is currently better than before, I'm still not all that happy, although I get by easier. The time spent keeping the scorecard up diminishes my internal happiness. But the scorecard gives me external happiness. Although it could disappear at any moment. If it does though, my internal happiness would probably flourish. Choosing a goal is one of the hardest things to do.

    People who are working a regular job get this too, but unlike successful content creators, they often can't just quit and take a break for a while. I do understand the struggles, but at the same time it is a huge luxory to just be able to "stop" and rethink for a while. For a lot of people, unfortunately, their way of making money is not a source of joy at all, and still they are faced with problems, life changing situations and more...

      @tylerjkeenan It is funny. Sense hignsight is 20/20 lol! I've found my exp to be subjectively single within the contextual whole of a toriodally quantum collective that appears separate, yet so connected it requires distinction to create the trinity as perceived by a aspect of the polarity pendulum zooming in and out of creator/consumer.

    You are becoming the only long form content creator I actually want to sit through a video for. Your work touches my heart, Tyler. Thank you for your reflections, inspiration, for sharing the fruits of them. And seriously, how beautiful to be doing this inspired work while simultaneously documenting your own metamorphosis. I've loved being audience to your process with stepping fully into this creative process and aligning your life with your sense of deeper calling-but as I watch this video, I get this deeper feeling of connection in my own heart as I watch your deep process with authenticity and integrity unfolding in earnest. You're a gift to your community, Tyler-thank you for being an inspiration to me and so many others 🙏

      Hunter, this means the world to me man. Thank you for being such an important part of my process: thoughtfully supporting me and surfing the wave as I got to this point. Thrilled to see what's next for both of us (including an eventual collaboration on this channel, LFG). P.S. thanks again for helping me bring my vision to life with the thumbnail :) See you soon.

    Thanks so much for making this video. I got really emotional watching this. As a content creator who intentionally "created a new car" a few months ago because I outgrew my old one, it was hard when my views dropped by 50%. But I would always repeat that decision any day of the week, because we grow as people and its ok to change. I would always prefer to live a life I'm proud of intsead of chasing the algorithm and feeling empty inside. ❤
