@@Rventureland thank you. It works well for us!
What’s up man, was this the “short fit” option?
When I ordered mine, it was just called the Ultra Swing. I have one of the originals. If you send them this video, I'm sure they can direct you to the correct unit.
Looking good buddy! I learned my lesson about not checking the high tide charter and the whole beach was closed to vehicle traffic. We found a public parking area just north of Ponce Inlet access point and made the best of it!
@@Tangofifetwo the tide was 50 feet out when we got there. There's just so much erosion that when it started coming in, it happened fast.
That app is dope! Very cool cooking set up
@@Zero-q6k Thank you! It's working well for us!
Any day at the beach is better than one in the office. Awning looks good, the bronze Rays are sharp!
@Zero-q6k absolutely! The awning performed great. The Ray's are awesome rims. I switch between these and gunmetal TEs, but i think these are really growing on me.
Literal does the same exact thing
Hey man, I'm over in St. Augustine and just found your channel. Are your red interior lights white as well? If so, where did you get them?
@premierpowerwashing6634 i have white interior lights up front and in the middle and red lights for the rear hatch area. I have looked for lights, or light packs that do both, with no luck. My though on lighting was that the seat and storage area I would want a lot of light. But at camp I then off the auto-on light option and turn them to manual. I'm in and out of the rear of the truck all night going to the fridge, so i just turn on the red light when I open the rear door. I can see fine, but the red won't attract bugs and preserves my night vision. I purchased mine from SuperbrightLEDs.com. Now, Meso Customs sells some light packs that replace the bulbs with LED panels, and theirs will go white and red, but when I checked a year ago, they didn't have an option available for the GX platform.
It's the "Ta lu la" river.
@duane4972 I've always heard of it call Charlie's Creek. Thanks for the correction.
Awesome video, love the awning who makes it
@mikesvidjust4u I appreciate that, thank you. The awning is made by Taruca. I can't recommend it enough. It's the third awning on this build, and I really, really like it. If you watch the Georgia Traverse video, you'll see how it handled getting absolutely dumped on with rain for an entire week. It kept me nice and dry, gave me a ton of work space and provided great light. Definitely check them out, and tell them I sent ya 👍
You mind sharing your wheel/tire specs? Size, offset, etc? Thanks!!
@tomshelburne7884 in this video, the truck is on Volk TE37's, 18x9 +0. The tires are Toyo Open Country ar/at trails, 275/70r18. It's currently on Ray's DR57-X'S, 17x8.5 -10. Tires are slightly larger diameter. Tons of pics with both on my Instagram under the same name if you're trying to choose tires and rim sizes.
@ very helpful, thank you. Have a GX460 and gathering info. Is the change to DR57’s for a particular reason?
@tomshelburne7884 in switch the the DRs when I going wheeling where there's rocks and tougher off road. The TEs are way more expensive, and after rock-rashing one in Georgia, I bought the DRs. They offer a bit more sidewall on the tire, and if I tear them up, they're cheap to replace. I've really grown to like the look or the bronze though.
I agree great video. Glad you were able to get out after those very bad storms. I want to camp with people who make pizza😋
@mariotardif3574 the pizza ovens was pretty awesome.
looks great! whats the length from the back of the platform to the front?
@ed-pz4xf I haven't put a tape measure to it, but it goes from the very back of the vehicle to the back of the front seats when they're pushed all the way rearward. I can. Throw a tape on it tonight. Im 5'9" and can sleep on the one side though.
@@Jade_Overland Thanks for the info! I'm 6'1 but a side sleeper and I was wondering if I'd fit. I'm looking for either a GX460 with the goose gear platform or a 6.5ft bed Tundra with a cap for car camping when I Hunt/Fish/Hike.
@@ed-pz4xf 6'1" would probably be a bit too tall unless you pushed the passenger side seat all the way forward and filled the void with something.

Forgot to ask: did you ever do a video on adding the light to the trailer hitch? How hard was it to add? I'd love to hear how you did it. Thx
@jemezgraham i never did a video on the light install. I should have. The install was easy, though. All you do is unplug the factory wiring from the factory plug, put the Baja Designs plug in between those 2, and plug everything back in. Then just route the wiring however you need to. Shouldn't take more that 10-20 minutes.
@@Jade_Overland awesome. quick question regarding the factory wiring & plug: do you mean the wiring to the existing backup lights or the connectors used when towing a trailer to control the trailer lights? And which light did you use? (or did you mention the model in the video?) Thx!
@@jemezgraham www.bajadesigns.com/products/s1-hitch-light-kit-universal/?sku=448153 That's the kit I used. It used the factory hitch plug wiring under the truck, near the spare tire.
Invest in some fox coilovers or kings with adjustable resi’s. I had toytec and ome before always trying to save money. Then I decided to drop the money on the big boys with 700lb springs. It is definitely worth the money. I ordered through accutune and they tune/revalve them for free with purchase. When you order you tell them what the weight of your steer axle and rear axle is so they can tune them accordingly.
@heismyrefuge1027 That was the plan, but when I was ordering suspension, there wasn't anywhere near the options there are now. I was able to order the Ironman suspension with heavier coils after speaking directly to them and explaining how much weight was being added, and they've handled it well. I need to pick up some bump stops though as an added layer of protection. If I don't swap this for the GX550 next year, the plan is the get OME BP51s so I can do a little more tuning.
I live in the Northwest Ga area and have been wanting to do the whole traverse. I have done the Cohutta/Big frog loop sections and everything west of that. The east side ends right on the other side of my little town in Alabama. Question do you prefer Gaia over onx? I see you have a map that you would share and would possibly add me to it to try out Gaia to do this trip. i would prefer to run it west to east so i could end at home lol. Can Gaia easily be setup to run your file the opposite way? Thanks for any help. Love your setup and looks like you had a great time.
@DougLedbetter-r2n the trip can be run either way. I have always run it west to east because it's easier for me, but the original route was east to west. Just know the western portion, from where it starts to Chatsworth, is highway and paved. Chatsworth really starts it for me. I prefer Gaia over OnX. I've tried both, and just like it better personally. Shoot me a private message with your email and I can add you to the map. It doesn't map it turn to turn for you like Google maps. I keep the map up on the stereo, and watch the vehicle marker, turning when necessary. At the speeds we run the trails it's easy. Have fun!
@@Jade_Overland I am going to sound like an idiot here, but i cannot for the life of me find a way to private message you on this platform. There is no email or message link in your about section.

Hi, what battery are you using in it?
@Mosu666 I'm currently using an Odyssey Extreme. It has handled the truck and accessories great, though I wish there was a 2 battery set up out there so I could run duals.
Unless you meant for the heater alone. For that, I run a small bluetti. Barely uses any power.
Needs to use way less vent piping, the shorter your hose going into tent the warmer and more air flow you get
@jaycevessier7554 true, but there's nowhere to put it with this truck other than the ground. It gets plenty hot air up there, though.
@@Jade_Overland dude even keeping the heater where it is it looks like you could cut 8’ off that line

Where are you coming from, we went there 2 weeks ago and it takes us 11 hours with mild weather ,but we're coming from Palm Beach County Florida
@jbct469 I'm coming from western Orlando. I usually start at Coopers Creek which is 8ish hours away.
That really shined up Your Lexus nicely. Good stuff!
Just a heads up. That spot on the point at Lake Conasauga will get hammered by storms. Wind blows over the mountains, funnels down across the lake and blast that spot. FYI
@twistylensphoto8163 definitely good to know, thanks. The view was super nice, but if it was blowing like crazy there, that wouldn't be any fun
The awning makes a huuuggge difference at the beach. Would be roasting in the direct sun without it.
@colleenperrotte4416 Absolutely. The fans are the icing on the cake.
First of all awesome and informative video. So many good ideas about what to do with my 460. Already have a rack and gettin sliders installed tomorrow. That being said, what does the spare tire holder do to your departure angle? I like the table and ability to add some accessories, but does the extra length of the spare tire holder negate the decrease in departure angle? How did you run your electricals to the roof rack? What kind of controller for the lights are you running? Do you run your chase lights fulltime on the trail? Have you done any electrical upgrades to the rear of the vehicle? I see you have a few Lithium batteries, are you charging those en route? What abount comms - any GMRS? This video deserves more views. Subscribed!
Thank you for the kind words! I'll try to answer everything. The Rigd tire swingout does decrease your departure angel, no way to get around that. I have landed on it several times with nothing mire than light scratches. I've come down on my recovery piece a bunch, and the hitch portion is still perfect. The lighting in the rear swingout is wired into the 7 pin harness under the truck. When ordering from Baja Designs, they actually send you a pigtail with the light, so it's plug and play. The dust light get run in very dusty conditions here on the trail, but bit always. They also make great reverse lights when you're deep in the woods. I ran the wire off the roof and down the side of the rear door using KC Lights wire hider. It runs behind the tail light and then forward to the battery. The battery banks I run get charged while driving all day. I plug my fridge into the battery, then the battery into the rear if the center console where I've added a couple 12v plugs. The other battery sits on the passenger front floorboard plugged into the factory 12v, and U use that to recharge my drone, DJI handheld, phone, and whatever else requires juice. I think that covers it. Any other questions, please let me know. I'm happy to answer them!
Forgot about the comms question....I run handheld Baofeng UV-5R radios as does the rest of my travel cadre. I had real radios and CBs in my previous FJ build, but I was the only one, so it was way overkill for who I was going out with. I decided to not do a hardwired, dedicated comms set up in this vehicle, and the handheld has served me well.
I like it !!! I was going to go with StopTechs all around. Do you have rears ?

Did you relocate your camera? I picked up the Dirtcom one that swings to the left.
@johnhegarty1835 I did. I had the wires extended and had the camera relocated under the spoiler. Between that, and the Baja Designs hitch light, I can finally see put if the back again.
@@Jade_Overland I was looking to put it under the spoler as an option too. Was there a kit you used? Thanks! Any chance seeing a video for that?
@@johnhegarty1835 I didn't use a kit, and it was the one thing on the truck I didn't wire. I brought it to a shop, who lengthened the existing wires and ran it up into the spoiler. Where the wiper arm attaches to the spoiler, there's a little removable piece of plastic. That's where mine is installed. It's not centered, so you can't use the parking lines, but it's good enough to see if something is behind you and not back into it.

This is great, but I can't help but think it's a missed opportunity for them to not have made a left swing option so you could also open the tailgate. I realize this is a GX-specific problem, but still. I also have a hard time getting behind the fact that your cooking/prep surface is exposed to the elements all the time. I think I'd skip the table and stick with the tailgate table option personally. This is a pretty cool option though, I love that you don't have to do any modification to make it work.
@doublen675 I've had the rear door table, but prefer this. I have to account for bugs getting into the truck living in Florida. A left swinging swing would give me the ability to use it with the door open, but with how I use it, I'm able to cook and use the entire under-awning area. As for being exposed, I just wipe it down before using it. The cutting table is just used at a work surface, I have a separate cutting board I use for that reason.
Looks like you had a great time. The weather was nuts when we ran it over memorial day weekend as well!
@DefiantOffroad it's never a bad time, but it certainly rained more than I was expecting. I actually enjoy camping in cold, wet weather. This was a lot, though. Good gear makes it easy, and I think I have that sorted out now.

@@oneplus2ins send me your email. I'll send you a pretty comprehensive map. Just know there may not be bathrooms at camp, and if there is, they're pit toilets. There's definitely no showers. @@Jade_Overland Hey Chris, I'll message you in FB. Thanks!
Can you use the GX460 back door? How far can you open the GX460 backdoor with this configuration.
@bokatorus771 the swingout opens up 180 degrees and doesn't interfere with the rear door operation at all. If I'm trying to cook totally under the awning due to weather, I have to be careful not to ooen the door into the table, but that's only because the swingout is halfway open.
Nice man. Been wanting to put some of those on the Gladiator. Bet they’d help, especially with 38’s and towing the boat!

Do the lights come with the awning or are they a different brand
@campfirestories744 the light are part of the awning. tarucausa.com actually has a newer, beefier version on now, and from speaking to the owner it will have red light, as well as the others. Can't wait to see it!
Hello, nice job on your truck. I see you have an attic. What do you have stored in the attic? What are those containers in the attic? Thanks
