They should've kept the characters from season 2 for the seasons to come. Im starting season 4 but im hesitant to continue since Lu, Carla, Valerio (quiet literally the most entertaining characters) no longer appear. This had so, so much potential.

Watched the first season years ago and while i enjoyed it I didn't end up watching on. Everything I know about the following season and the decline in quality I know from yhara zayds excellent video essay about the show. Since she only talks about the first three seasons I don't actually know anything about the following ones. Very excited to find out!!

I really liked season 4 but but many of its events are really over the top, even for the standards of the series. The romance between Ryan and Taylor comes from nowhere. The fact that she is allowed to hang around with the group that much is a bit out of place, since she was a villain last season and not someone really close later on. Taylor's husband from France coming to live to Newport is another example. Finally that the Cohen's get to re buy the same house they had lived in.

I really love The OC; the family dynamics and social class issues are interestingly developed. But some things really push my buttons, looking at it back. Julie did a lot harm to other people and some of her acts were downright illegal, yet she finished the series unpunished.
