    Every study shows longer 3 - 5 minute rest between sets builds more muscle that short rests.

    • @Exscihub
      @Exscihub 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry, Zeuso.1947, but I can't agree with that as I haven't come across such findings in every research I've reviewed. It's crucial to acknowledge that there isn't a single variable that dictates all results. It's essential to consider the interplay and effects one variable's manipulation has on the others, and the overall outcomes from the session. I'd urge caution with any research that makes broad claims like that

      @@Exscihub Here's an overview of 12 studies. Muscle mass and strength gains were superior for 1.5 - 3 minute rests vs 1 minute. Only with a significant increase in the number of sets for short rest times would short rest times get better results, like no shit, a big increase in volume builds more muscle. th-cam.com/video/lENxKKjaG6Q/w-d-xo.htmlsi=H5gV2t8nBvrD9JAg

    you can grow muscle even if sets/reps is not to failure, just progressive, even if rest is longer than 1 minute, even if the volume is only 7 sets(3 sets light/warmup weight) of 8 reps twice per week.

    • @Exscihub
      @Exscihub 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree with your statement @jamesortega8681! We need to shift away from the 'there is only one way to achieve results' mentality that's pervasive in our field. Your comment aligns with Dr. Brad Schoenfeld's research, which demonstrates that 1) Muscle growth can occur without reaching failure, as long as there's progressive tension. 2) Longer rests (beyond 1 minute) can still support hypertrophy. 3) Support for the notion of high volume - low intensity hypertrophy models Schoenfeld, B. J., Ogborn, D., & Krieger, J. W. (2016). Effects of resistance training frequency on measures of muscle hypertrophy: a systematic review and meta-analysis. Sports Medicine, 46(11), 1689-1697

    Great video, thanks for explaining this so clearly and in only 4 mins. I have a question, can the lactate that goes from muscles to the liver increase the growth of existing cancer cells in the liver in the case of a patient with liver metastasis? Thanks

    • @Exscihub
      @Exscihub 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the kind words on the video! That's a very good question, and one I don't feel equipped to properly answer as don't have specialization in cancer cells metabolism. Only a note here on the potential role of lactate in anaerobic "starvation" of cells to aid in its combat.

    Two things here: lactic acidosis is a common lethal endpoint for many disease processes. If the blood becomes acidic from too much lactic acid, then the cells and thus organs stop working.

      Yes, Matt the world of lactic acid production and consequences are fascinating and too vast for a short video! My goal is to focus on keeping them informative, complex made simple, in less than 5 min. Thank you for the added information!
