A nice new commission to begin 2025 along with existing work and sadly a package of painted figures that seems to have got lost in shipping :( A short video and I apologise for the shadow at the start!

That's a lot of metal to paint! Have fun, and be well!
Thank you Sir :) Should keep me busy for a while!
Excellent update lee, sorry to hear about the lost figures
Many thanks, you never know, they may still arrive but I'm not holding my breath :) Cheers, Lee
Really sorry to hear about the lost figures. Thanks for the chance to get a glimpse of the resin Iron Brigade, they look nice and crisp.
Must say Norm I don't think I have EVER lost a package, had a couple go astray and then suddenly turn up but never lost so you never know. Absolutely no pressure from Noel he insist we wait and see but after a month I have given up on them. I'm pretty well practised on the Epic ACW so a repaint spread over a month or so is manageable. Because so many had been sent to Noel it was not fully insured, I covered the £16.00 shipping as a discount - my usual practice. That's Life. Cheers, Lee.
@@legrambo Lee, saw your blog update … very good news on the safe arrival of the figures.
Great vid, love seeing the way your providing a cheap entry to the hobby/period. Keep up the good work.
Another alternative is scrap cardboard and masking tape. I do a lot of stuff for my own projects with those two materials. I use the masking tape in torn strips, sort of like papier mache, over the cardboard structure and then glaze the object with wood glue afterward. It'll take paint, flock, texturing, whatever you want to overlay the surface with once it fully dries. For things like buildings, I'll glue together cut panels or thin strips and it's as solid as wood. I made the goals for my table football game set that way (with fine tulle mesh for the netting) and the scoreboard as well. And the best part of it is that most of the materials are scrap. Doesn't cost anything beyond what you bought the original items in the boxes for. And there's always more.
what rule system is this for?
Beautiful work! Love it!
Outstanding Content!
Looks really good!
Nice video! What did you use to make the cornfield? I still have the first edition of Brigade Fire and Fury as one of the few rule sets I have. Great set of rules and provides a fun game.
Thank you. A fun game is just what I enjoy :) Nice old set of rules. The cornfield was one of the more costly parts of the project, I think the kit cost around £13.00! Google BUSCH 1202 CORNFIELD PLASTIC KIT HO/OO GAUGE to see the product. Cheers, Lee.
@@legrambo Thank you kindly! The game is definitely fun. I first played it in 2007 and have had the rules since.
Love this. I've had a similar 'budget conscious' ACW project ongoing for years, using F&F with 1/72 plastics and quick and dirty paint jobs. The rules aren't fashionable these days, which is a shame as they're still the best ACW set around IMHO.
That's great to hear of a similar project and I agree 100% re Fire & Fury, I tried many sets back in the day before settling on them when they came out. Johnny Reb II ran them a close second for me but more demanding to play. Cheers, Lee
Nicely done.
Superb troops, buildings, and fields, I do like the corn field!
Many thanks Phil :) Cheers Lee
The smaller bases look great!
Thank you. It is fairly simple process to cut down the strips. Cheers Lee
Huzzah!
Stunning and inspiring models and terrain as always.
Much appreciated, Cheers Lee.
Love it! Keeping it simple but elegant... troops and terrain look terrific and I like what you did with the Epic.
Thank you. Cheers, Lee.
Looks great! Fire and fury uses a lot of status markers for disorganised, low on ammo, damaged battery, breakthru charge etc. have you decided what figs to use for this?
I'm thinking probably 12mm Kallistra for the markers as they do packs of casualties etc, they actually scale up quite well to Epics, Cheers, Lee
Nice job, the trees look good
Thanks, I had not expected them to be as good as they are at that price! Cheers Lee.
Where did you get the corn for the corn field! Looks great! I wish now that I had done all my Epics on the smaller stands/bases. I based them Warlord prescribed. Fantastic look to all! Continue the good work! be well.
Thank you for the comment :) The plastic corn/Maize is a model railway modelling product in HO/OO scale but works well I think. Cheers, Lee
Thats very pretty for Epic Scale and 'fast' brush work! Great Job!
Thank you very much. Cheers Lee
looks lovely!
Much appreciated :) Cheers, Lee.
Great stuff mate 👍👍
Thank you again :) Cheers Lee.
Thàt all looks so good mate
Cheers for that :) Lee.
Lovely job and really building quickly. The smaller bases are inspired. No warp road excellent.
Thank you once again Norm :) THis is something I had been thinking about doing for ages! Cheers, Lee
What scale are the figures?
They are cheap plastic Warlord Games 'Epic' figures at 13.5mm scale. Come in strips of 10 so I simply cut the strips down as I want them. A single sprue of 100 infantry for around £7.00 makes them perfect for a large project. Cheers, Lee.
@@legrambo They look great!!!!
The whole thing looks the nuts mate and I prefer the aesthetics of the smaller stands to standard epic look
Cheers mate :) The Epic strips are perfect for this and just snap down once the base is cut through. I think they remain the best of the Epics so far as they capture that advancing at right shoulder arms pose really well. Al coming together nicely. Lee.
The ACW for F&F is a great idea. Is there a lot of tidy up when splitting the sprues? I already split the Napoleonic strips in half. I’m tempted to give it a go and add Kallistra for commands etc.
Hi Grumbleminiatures and thank you for the comment. I'm almost 80 bases in now so I'll show them in the next video along with exactly how easy it is to split the strips into 3's with minimal damage which is disguised soon as you base coat them! I have also now split some of the Resin Iron Brigade strips which seems to work pretty well too, more of a 'snap' than a 'bend' though! Kallistra are a very good match, I have used Kallistra cavalry and Generals before with Epics. I will certainly be using them for the markers etc. Cheers, Lee.
What models are these belgians? Looks great! Can't seem to find the files/prints anywhere :)
Hi. The link is below for you, eBay store. These were purchased ready printed not as files so not sure of file origin. Perfect match for the 13.5mm Epics in both height and body shape and nice robust bayonets. Hope this helps :) Cheers, Lee www.ebay.co.uk/str/hopliteminiatures
Just found your channel! Love the way you are using the epic minis for Fire and Fury. The look great!
Thank you very much for the comment :) I hope you will enjoy watching the Fire & Fury project develop here, I'm going to start with 50 stands per side and then plan to double that up. The bases are 20mm frontage by 15mm deep for the 6 figures and I think/hope that they will have good mass effect for the rules. Cheers, Lee.
Isn’t Epic miniatures so cheap that it is not worth printing them yourself or how much do you really save on printing it?
Unfortunately Warlord do not produce Dutch/Belgian Napoleonics in 'Epic' scale! They formed a major part of Wellingtons Allies at Waterloo. Thus the 3D prints, my customer supplies them and I just paint them for him :) 3D prints fill in some of the gaps in the ranges. Cheers, Lee.
looks amazing ,good job👍👍
Those ACW look great. Simple but effective, particularly ‘en masse’. I use Adler ACW (supposedly 6mm, but really, more like 8mm) miniatures and put 8 figures on 30mm by 20mm sized bases.
Thank you :) I'm enjoying playing around with the Epic ACW's for this project and at 100 figures on a sprue for just £7.00 it would make an excellent way for a new gamer to get into the period. Adlers are great little figures too. Cheers, Lee.
Very interesting on the Epic. I like the 3D prints, but some higher relief would be more welcome from a painting point of view. For the back packs, would a swipe of dry brush across the backs to catch the straps, followed up by a black tidy up down the side if each strap work? or is the relief just too shallow? The ACW are looking grand, your painting speed on them is brilliant.
Hello Norm and many thanks for following along here :) The 3D prints are excellent, a perfect match scale wise for Epic in terms of both height and anatomy. They also seem quite sturdy in the bayonets, not a single broken one in the 7 packs of 80 figures. I WILL paint in those straps! It's finding the correct brush point and correct consistency of white paint that will flow nicely, that's all!! The Epic ACW's are great if you want to use shorter strips as they will break without any damage to the arms that can't be easily tidied up and to be honest just the primer will fill in and repair. All the best and a Happy New Year, Lee.
Nice work as always really like the acw idea and always look forward to a good mumble and ramble so keep doing what you do happy new year to you
Thank you very much for that :) Happy New Year to you too. Cheers Lee
Excellent update and ramble
Thank you very much :) Cheers Lee
lovely work! i like the 3d prints
The 3D prints are some of the best 'Epic' scale I have seen. Cheers Lee.
You did a great job with your terrain. Great battlefield. Never thought of magnetic paper. Hope the game matched the terrain. Like you, I started accumulating actual casualties for my games. Looks good as the action progresses.

1994 is the date for the Confederate soldiers as it shows on the paint suggestion card. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for that, I missed that :) Cheers, Lee.
Very nice set-up. I discovered DBN during the Covid lock-down when I came across Alex's site. As a solo wargamer with limited space and a small collection of figures (1500), I find them the best rules ever, I just love them. My board is 3'x3' and I usually have great fun for an hour or two with a 12 point game as my figures are 25mm Minifigs. Thanks for sharing this little video.
Thanks, this gave me a lot of pleasure. Because of my vintage and origin, I grew up doing mostly WW2 in 1/72. Later, I started getting into Napoleonics and I went to the same scale without really thinking about it. On balance, I think this was unfortunate because the more individual poses seem to proliferate in other scales - 18mm, for example. I know it is only 2mm but 18mm do not look right against 20 -25mm. Do you have any recommendations for 20mm white metal/resin Napoleonics that are in production and available in the UK or Oz? I like dioramas, vignettes as much as wargaming for my figures. I think you should open one of your videos with the scenes from Callan dealing with his wargaming!
Many thanks for the comment. I will ask Old John re the ranges of metal 20mm's out there today, I know there are a few at least. It is perhaps a less popular scale these days but still plenty of collectors. As you mention Callan - a brilliant series that probably got me into the hobby way back then! - I have been following a blog for around 15 years where the guy has been rebuilding the Hinton Hunt 20mm armies of his youth. Hinton Hunts can clearly be seen in many Callan episodes so you might enjoy browsing through it? All the best, Lee. hintonhunt.blogspot.com/
@@legrambo Many thanks for that - I am off to hunt for Hinton Hunt (and let us hope this is not Cockney rhyming slang).
@@sinclairwhitbourne2090 Haha, nice one :) I also note that Irregular Miniatures produce 20mm Napoleonics and are very well priced at 66p each for infantry! irregularminiatures.co.uk/indexes/20mmindex.htm Cheers, Lee.
Magnifique !!! J'adore.
Just finished watching your 3 videos on your ECW collection, it looks amazing, thanks for letting me know about these.
Glad you enjoyed them :) if you want a bit of an update on the ECW's you might enjoy seeing the link below! I decided to sell them shortly before I moved to Spain because I was concerned about how fragile they all were sadly. The new owner keeps me updated and he has done some amazing work on them since then - 6 years ago, he has brought them up to a whole new level! napoleonictherapy.blogspot.com/p/robs-hinchliffe-ecw-collection.html Cheers, Lee.
I love these old figures. As a child in 70s I used to look longingly at the Painted Hinchcliffe in the window of our local model shop. Now in my 60s I have bought and painted a unit of Hinchcliffe Polish Winged Hussars and two battalions of Hinchcliffe Russian Napoleonics.
Same generation Ian - I'm 66 - and I still love Hinchliffe figures! have you seen my '800 Hinchliffe ECW's' video from about 6 years ago? All the best, Lee.
@ I’m going to watch that I have about 15 Hinchcliffe ECW cavalry that I bought second hand to strip and paint
What splendid figures & painting as well, a real delight to wattch over a morning cuppa. Do keep the videos coming.
Thank you very much indeed and for the encouragement :) All the best, Lee.
